Do not buy from this company .. read the reviews first

i wish i had read the reviews! ordered and paid for my wool , after 2 weeks it didnt arrive contacted the owner who said it was being posted the next day, i was sent a dispatch note and told it would arrive in 2 days , there was no tracking number on the dispatch note , after another week it still hadnt arrived so i contacted the owner again who said shed look into it and get back to me ... she didnt !! she then stopped replying to me .... i reported to Paypal and recieved a full refund immediately ... id advise anyone else to do this who have been treated as i was ...... do not buy from here!!

I won't be using them again !

I placed a small order with Benridge as a test run before committing to a larger purchase of several fleeces. Unfortunately, the whole experience was extremely disappointing.

I waited months for my order to arrive. I had to chase repeatedly, and communication was slow and unhelpful throughout. When the parcel was finally sent, Royal Mail emailed me saying additional postage was required — something Benridge then paid, but only after yet another delay.

I did eventually receive the fleece, but the overall experience was far too stressful and disappointing. Based on this, I won’t be ordering from Benridge again.

This is the 2nd order I had placed…

This is the 2nd order I had placed (Lincoln longwool on sale) The order was processed, I received an email to say it had been shipped. It was a while before it arrived but the quality was good, and the quantity for the price is very good, also very little VM. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 stars is the time it took to arrive and the shipping email didn't include the tracking number so I couldn't check on its progress. Overall a good purchase.

Slow delivery, dirty fleece

While Lucinda was very responsive to emails, the actual service was a let down. I asked about a breed study box, specifically referencing certain ancient breeds and was assured they were all in the UK selection. I ordered and it took ages for a shipping notice email, and then nothing arrived. After I queried, I caught her in a lie as she indeed hadn’t shipped it. It did however arrive the next day as she shipped it 24hr.

Unfortunately the “box” (shipped in a bag to save postage) contains completely raw fleece samples, some with a substantial amount of VM. Meaning I now have extra work to do. To be fair, there was zero description so I shouldn’t have just assumed. But still, a description would have been nice! Oh and some of the ancient breeds I requested (e.g. Soay) aren’t in the selection.

I shan’t be ordering again, which is a shame as I want to support the UK wool industry.

I have read all the reviews below and I feel I needed to write
Everyone below please get in touch with Lucinda and re sort your orders if not already
I had the same issues as all below believe me I was annoyed however Lucinda I feel was working around the clock and got pulled under by Royal Mail making her sending parcels extremely difficult and frustrating !
She has come up with a method that works and I received my packages today and believe me the quality of her wool is fantastic! Please work things out with her and she will deliver
I am definitely going to re order her system works
Her business isn’t anything bad she just was trying to get out orders and being pulled down by the mailing system
It must of been difficult for her especially when she’s also looking after flocks and running a farm
Email her and work though your orders
I am glad I did 🙂

I ordered and paid for fleece from…

I ordered and paid for fleece from Lucinda bird at benridge. Got nothing. Complained and got a tall story. Asked again and was promised delivery. Nothing!
I was lucky enough to be refunded by PayPal.
Please don’t deal with this dishonest person or their company.

No wool and no refund. Avoid.

Partner ordered some wool in January. It never arrived. Lots of messages to them asking where it is. Responses blaming the weather and how busy they are. It's now April. Asked for her money back. She's now advised Benridge they'll be taken to small claims court in order to recover her money. She still hasn't heard anything but will be proceeding with a small claims court action (I'd advise every single customer who hasn't had their order or their money back to do the same). I can't work out if this business is willfully ripping people off or they are just totally incompetent? Either way, there are far far better wool suppliers out there. Avoid this company like the plague.

I ordered wool 6 weeks ago and still…

I ordered wool 6 weeks ago and still haven't received it. It seems the excuses offered by Lucinda are the same as those given to lots of people, stating problems with packing, etc., then no replies. This is a scam company and its sad so much money is being extorted from people with good heart who love wool.

Don’t waste your money or time, it’s a con.

29 Jan- order placed and confirmed

6 Feb- I received an email to say the order had shipped with no tracking number

14 Feb- Lucinda told me that it was an error and that 'in my to label up list right now. If it's not today and receive tomorrow you will receive on Tuesday'

18 Feb- I contacted to request a refund.

1 March- I contacted because I hadn't received the order or a refund.

3 March- Lucinda responded to say 'we had a backlog of orders due to such bad weather but we have pushed through the backlog and brought down lead times'

16 March (today)- I have not received the order or a refund.

I paid for this order on 29 January

Do not use this company - dishonest

Do not use this company. I ordered in December and got an email saying it had been shipped. It hadn't. I followed up to get tracking, and got multiple emails from them saying it was shipped, just about to be shipped, had to be redone etc. after much email chasing i finally got my order in early Feb. Not fully trusting the company now, i weighed the order - they had only sent me 1.5 kg of the 2 kg. So dishonest. I've spent the 5 weeks trying to get the rest of the order or a refund, and been met with emails saying it's shipped (it hasn't), about to be shipped, no tracking provided, and now they are ignoring my emails. Avoid this company.

Undelivered order

I have been chasing an order since December. Lucinda keeps saying it will be shipped next and saying there will be a tracking number provided but after months of back and forth nothing has materialised. I have started the chargeback process with my bank.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Only fulfilled half of my order, ignored messages, pleas for completion and alternative options offered to try and make up for the loss of my money. A refund request of £100 has been ignored. All my comments trying to continue communication on their facebook get deleted. Because they have delayed shipments, Paypal refuse refunds. Really bad customer services, avoid this company if you want to keep your sanity!

AVOID THIS SELLER – NEVER SENT ME THE FLEECE – GHOSTED ME

I placed the order on November 9th 2025. I thought it would be on time for my Christmas proyect of processing wool, from raw fleece to finished yarn.
As time passed by and my order didn’t arrive I contacted the seller by e-mail. I didn’t get any answer. I wrote several more e-mails. Any answer.
Meanwhile her social media activity was very active, with several posts a day. So I try commenting on it asking for my order. My comments were deleted.

Then on January 2th 2026 07:27:24 CET, Lucinda Bird replayed saying she has been busy buying stock, then on holiday, but all the prep work was completed before Christmas. She’ll be posting my tracking number very soon on the PayPal transaction as it’s very easy to fill in 

She never posted my tracking number.

On January 27th 2026 I opened a claim on PayPal to have my money back. They informed me that that practice could take up to 3 months to get resolved. As first step they contacted Lucinda Bird from Benridgewoolworks asking for the tracking details. She had 7 days to answer. After 7 days PayPal closed the claim to my favor reimborsing me the whole amount I have paid. She even didn’t care to answer the PayPal claim.

Red flags:
- Only contact by email. NO TELEFONE NUMBER, NO ADDRESS
- Not answering emais while having an active social media presence
- On the web page it is not listed the amount of products available
- No information on their website about dispatch times, shipping methods, terms & conditions
- her facebook page erases periodically the comments to her numerous posts where claims appear from customers

AVOID!

I ordered two raw fleeces from Benridge Woolworks almost a month ago, and the experience has been extremely disappointing.

Delivery was delayed, and I was initially told that Royal Mail had attempted delivery on 25 February. This was not true. I later received a letter directly from Royal Mail informing me that the parcel could not be delivered because the sender had not paid the full postage. I was then required to pay an additional fee myself in order to receive my order.

As a customer, I should not be put in a position where I have to cover postage costs due to the sender’s error. After waiting nearly a month, to then be asked to pay extra just to receive what I had already purchased is unacceptable.

I would strongly suggest the company reviews its shipping processes and communication with customers. This experience has been frustrating and has significantly impacted my trust in ordering from them again.

Bumpy start that was more than solved

Initial order with benridge had a bump in the road, when I ordered Google told me that delivery was in 2 days but after calling Lucinda and a good chat it seems that was an error
The carded fleece was gorgeous and spun up by hand beautifully, I was initially really cautious after some of these reviews and panicked when my order was delayed but thankfully it was sorted really quickly
I can’t wait for this shawl to be crocheted up so I can play around with my next order as there’s a few breeds in the spinners pack that I’ve been eyeing up!

I ordered from Benridge Woolworks…

I ordered from Benridge Woolworks having been charmed by their huge online presence. What an error. I never received my goods. I tried emailing Lucinda on around 5 occasions but had either no reply or a vague excuse and no apology. At one point, she promised to send the goods with 24 hour delivery and weeks have passed since then. Still no fleece. I have had to open a PayPal dispute to try to get my money back. I feel like such a fool for not checking the reviews first before ordering but this company has been recommended online and even in books I have read recently - for example in The Lost Flock by Jane Cooper. I will never order from this company again and I still am out of pocket with no hope of a conclusion from PayPal until mid February. Do not make the same mistake as me - avoid this company. They cannot deliver what they promise on their social media.

Over 4 weeks in and My Messages are ignored and if I asked about delivery on their social media platform posts they simply deleted it...that's how important their customers are to them.
My advice is do not use this awful company, they're running before they can walk and spend more time on socials talking the talk! Cut this middle man company out and speak to farmers in your county to source your wool and support them directly and not this god awful company.
I will be doing exactly this from now on.
