Cancel the course.

Cancel the course without warning, saying there was technical issues, made false promises and then blamed another company. wasted a month for my time. not very good at getting back to you by email, and doesn't answer the phone most of the time! frankly, a waste of space.

How does anyone ever enrol with Bath College?

They never pick up the phone, instead they say leave a voicemail or send an email. Which I have done, repeatedly, and still they don’t answer. I have given all sorts of confidential personal information online, apparently successfully applying for a course and still I hear nothing.

Cancelled Courses without warning.

Cancelled Counselling Courses, but didn't tell students anything until too late in the summer. Several visits and phone calls result only in confused staff and management unaware of who is sending emails to whom and about what. Some staff assure you there is a course, others give you hints. It is absolutely ridiculous and disrespectful way to treat students this way. They are messing with our precious time, careers, commitments and financial ability. All other courses are full by now, others are too expensive. This college has gone downhill. It seems they have no idea what century this is, and what a contract is, what an agreement is. The value of education to them is trash. There are lovely great teachers at this college, but they are treated badly. Shame the college blames its lovely teachers for their shocking admin tragedies. This year has been wasted for many of us.

No information about courses available

No information about autumn adults skills courses in July. Now still no info as we go into mid august. It would seem reasonable that a well organised organisation would have this info? I notice poor reviews and Ofsted report. Perhaps management changes needed?

Counselling levels 2 & 3 scrapped at…

Counselling levels 2 & 3 scrapped at the last minute. Countless students emailed them for months to find out timetables (to arrange work, childcare)- either zero responses or dismissive ones. They don't answer the phone, or give any explanation as to their decision. Timetables supposed to be out in June, and they announce this end of July, leaving people high and dry. They seem highly unprofessional.

Music Course scrapped in 2024

To put students through an audition process for a music course and then e-mail them in July to tell them there is no music course and to ask them apply for something else for a year as they might have the course running next year but no guarantees. Is this for the money or the welfare of the students? Completely lost my faith and trust in your college!!

Absolutely awful educational…

Absolutely awful educational institution; the worst I have ever been a part of!

If you can - go somewhere else!

Lecturers lack basic respect and the college itself has poor facilities and policies - nowhere to seriously study and staff members are out of touch with the realities, resulting in a significantly reduced chance of success here.

Celta English department at Bath College

Got in touch with the Celta English department because I was interested in a course. No reply to my email. When I called the person answering told me straight away in a grumpy way that she wouldn’t know anything and that no one was available to speak with me or give any information. Dismissive attitude.

Don't waste your money enrolling on this Love to Learn Beginners Art Course

Both my husband and I enrolled on the Love to Learn Beginners Art Course, at a cost of over £400 for both of us. Not a small amount of money. The course started on 12 January and was promising. We decided not to come back after half-term because it simply was not meeting the stated curriculum and the tutor planned for the session after half-term to be printing. On the first session we were told to copy our fist. As hands are the hardest things to draw, it hardly felt appropriate, but we carried on. There have been some helpful sessions but sometimes the tutor is sitting and working on her computer for most of the session. We were shown pieces of art from other students so we could copy the techniques. We are not the only ones who are dissatisfied, but some people are unable to say.

The curriculum on the website states:
“Art for Beginners (22/23) Course Overview It will help you to refine your garment construction skills taking them to the next level. WHAT GARMENT?

What topics are covered? Drawing from observation; Mark making & materials ? graphite, charcoal & inks; Proportion, perspective and techniques of looking; Colour theory; Tonal painting techniques in acrylic; Painting applications ? watercolour, impasto and mark making; Looking at key artists relating to your projects; Mixed media and texture; Developing preparatory studies for final works.”

The following was not covered:

Proportion and perspective (fundamental I would say)
Colour Theory - not covered, again fundamental
Tonal painting techniques in acrylic – we asked and were told it “might” be covered
Painting applications – none, we haven’t used any paints
Watercolour and impasto – we were told watercolour painting would not be covered when we got to the course
Mixed media and texture – covered in the sense of doing some lino printing, but that’s about all

We didn’t expect to spend ages on drawing from crushed costa paper cups, used toothpaste tubes, and other limited objects from the art room.

The course content was not as stated. The tutor is very nice but there were no lesson plans, and no handouts which could have been put on Moodle for us to download.

We know this is not the usual standard from Bath College, because we are also on another course, which is well-organised, inspiring, and covers everything that was promised and more.

We requested a 50% refund but to date 27.03.23, have not even received a reply, despite an email to the college manager/principle.

¡FANTASTIC! UAL Art Foundation on offer here

I did my UAL Art Foundation here back in 2012-2013 and it gave me the best possible range of artistic skills I could ask for!

It was the perfect preparation for University and the teachers were great! You get to specialise into your desired area of art (Textiles, 3D, 2D -Graphic Design, Illustration etc.) after a few weeks and they often found people coming in for one and out with another so it is a really useful course to explore what exactly you wish to do.

Cannot sing their praises enough - the course they provide acts as an amazing bridge from FE to HE.
