DON’T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME POSTING A QUESTION!! I posted my question and received 4 answers, all of them rude in one way or another. None of them answering the question. The only thing AVVO is good for is learning who NOT to hire because the lawyers are so rude in their responses.

I have posted reviews of lawyers on this website over the last few years. When I post a five-star review of a lawyer, it goes through somewhat automatically, I get an approval statement from the website usually the next day. On two occasions, I submitted negative reviews of lawyers who had not done a good job. The next day, in both cases, my reviews were rejected for violating "community guidelines." The community guidelines are overly broad and, more interestingly, the website does not tell you which guideline you have supposedly violated. This omission is noteworthy as lawyers are a profession devoted to detail. In one of the two cases, I gave a negative review to a lawyer in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This attorney actually claimed to Avvo that I had not seen him and Avvo came back to me to ask for proof of our meeting. This is a violation of confidentiality by a website. In any case, Avvo eventually posted the negative review of this man in Winston-Salem, after several days and several emails back and forth.
According to its website, Avvo claims to provide “more information” to help potential clients make “better decisions.” Yet, Avvo apparently makes little effort to screen positive reviews (which could possibly be provided by the personal friends of a lawyer). It is my understanding that the only way that Avvo actually verifies positive evaluations is to let the lawyers challenge such reviews. On the other hand, Avvo routinely intercedes with negative reviews (as well as allowing the lawyer to question such reviews, as happened to me with the Winston-Salem attorney). So, in the case of incompetent, unprofessional, or disreputable lawyers, Avvo does not really provide a platform for consumers to make “better decisions.”

I have had the worst experiences with the AVVO staff, they waste much of your time and give statements back that make no sense and not relative to the actual review,,

I hired Robert Ritacca him and his son Robert Jr out of Waukegan IL. For a bogus case a lady put on me in Jan of this yr. An within a few months he beat the case for me an got all charges dismissed. They even fought for me when I wasn't present. They are also getting my case expunged from my record. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND This law firm they are definitely my go to in ANY SITUATION. Safe to safe I am a Very Satisfied client.
Apparently police can do whatever they want to do. I was arrested for a "warrant" held four days and extradited. On the 4th day pulled from cell by jail captain and told sorry we made a mistake you should have never been arrested. No lawyers have contacted me. So I guess the police just have to say sorry and that's good enough. If I snatched someone from their car and held them for 5 minutes with good reason sorry wouldn't cut it. 4 days my family called the other county who was saying they didn't have a warrant out for me. But still they came and picked me up and took me to their jail. Treated me like I did something wrong. When it was them doing wrong. How is sorry suppose to be good enough. Where are the lawyers at.

Response to Avvo:
It is funny how you were so quick to censor my review, as well, and you didn't even do a great job defending your severe policies about removing any and all negative reviews while ignoring positive ones even if they mention bigoted terms. You are pathetic and you can keep making laughable responses, showing how your company is really just thin-skinned lawyers defending other thin-skinned lawyers, but I mean if you want to, keep responding as if trolling my review will win people over. Keep complaining about my review as well. I know that the rep from avvo I had mentioned earlier is the one responding to this but too scared to use his name after using other's names in his responses. I encourage every reader to look at their vague community standards that only apply to negative reviews. If you are so welcoming of negative reviews as much as you are with positive ones, then you wouldn't do such a pathetic job of justifying the removal of negative reviews. When you ask avvo about how saying a lawyer was rude or abandoned the case, expect them to simply ignore your question or tell you that it magically goes against their guidelines about racist statements and personal attacks on their precious attorneys. Good luck.
Avvo is probably the worst site when it comes to making reviews. They aggressively protect attorneys on there. Positive reviews are not scrutinized, negative reviews are judged based on grammar and for the negative ones, they demand exact details that the attorney was hired and about what happened, but they also don't allow many of those details in the reviews anyway. ****** ****** of Washington is responsible for rejecting your honest reviews of shady lawyers. Let him know how you feel about them suppressing anything that can hurt a lawyer's feelings.

I’m totally disgusted with the censorship at avvo.com in regards to an honest review of a Washington attorneys by the names of Robert Jensen and Rachel Loo at the law firm of Stewart MacNicholes Harmell.
Thanks to your censorship this law firm will shortly have their own website with numerous question about sexism and discrimination against men.
I’m thoroughly disgusted that Avvo would censor a review from a male victim of domestic abuse and violence and then falsely accused of a crime. This is discrimination based on gender. The reason men don’t report domestic abuse and violence is that they are usually blames for their own abuse.
It’s one thing to be abused and assaulted by a woman and her daughter—people who have viewed/heard the recordings I made have stated that they are everything from Borderline, Narcissistic to just outright crazy—but it’s another far more dangerous and scary thing to have “institutionalized violence” against men. Apparently if you’ve been abused and falsely accused by females the lawyers with this law firm will do the prosecutor's work from suppressing video/audio defense evidence to refusing the assistance of an expert attorney on U.S. visa fraud.
I had assistance from a domestic violence program, video/audio recordings, written records, lots of evidence yet this law firm told me it was "they say you say." Really?
What was really scary about this law firm is that knowing I was a victim of abuse at the hands of females, switched attorneys to Rachel Loo who gave me an “ultimatum” to take a domestic violence class as though I was the aggressor. I guess they thought I would put up with more ultimatums—I mean I had lived with ultimatums, threats, abuse and violence for almost two years so maybe they thought I would put up with more of it.
They were good for one thing and that was delaying things until I could put other things in place including: a unilateral protection order against my abusers, their family and the female 911 caller on the case who had an arrest record for assaulting none other that a man (it's true), a unilateral nullification of marriage as well as having all of these documents hand delivered by an attorney to federal authorities at USCIS along with the video/audio recordings. The names and state bar numbers of the attorneys as well supporting evidence were also reported since the motive involved was visa fraud. So good luck to the fraudsters on this one!
We are trying to get her overseas property for damages but it looks like the locals will get it first. Apparently one of my abusers used a Zell account to funnel money overseas to avoid connection with her name. It's also know as using a "money mule." Nothing surprises me about these people.
Fraudsters. I've seen it time and time again. They pass themselves off as little angels and then the videos and evidence comes to light to show what they really are.
If you are a male victim of domestic violence and false allegations steer clear of Stewart MacNicholes Harmell.
Just think, if the genders would have been switched what would this law firm have done? Ask a woman to attend a DV program or fight the false allegations?

Can't say enough about Pickett, Dummigan and Mc Call. Kimberly Weingart and Randy Pickett represented my husband in his personal injury case. They were honest and upfront about what to expect. They kept us well informed and up to date throughout the entire process. They are very professional and in my opinion are willing to go that extra mile for their clients.I would recommend them to anyone who needs a personal injury attorney. Can't go wrong with with Pickett, Dummigan and Mc Call!

I've asked about half a dozen questions over the past year, and not one of them has been answered. I searched, and didn't find the same question asked before. It's useless for my purposes, and if it's not confidential, then it's more harm than good.

I have asked a few questions on avvo. It has been a positive experience, up until today. One attorney that replied was extremely rude and unprofessional. I felt belittled by his responses. I contacted avvo about this, they said that it’s ok for the attorneys to be rude and unprofessional.
In response to avvo’s reply.:. When the attorney tells you to “take a long walk on a short pier”, that’s taking it way too far.

Avvo runs a scammed system to deceive the public.
Any lawyer who receives a negative review can dispute it, and it will be removed by Avvo. The lawyer does not have to tell Avvo any facts about what is being disputed.
If a new review is written it will be denied as duplicative even if all the facts are different.
So a lawyer can bury negative reviews with a single word "DISPUTE " and Avvo will assist. Then Avvo has the system "fixed" to reject subsequent negative reviews.

This company keeps sending unsolicited emails to my under age childs school account and it looks like message questions were posted as well, we are not even residents in the US and fall under European GDPR. For two weeks now I have emailed and even phoned this company to establish how they got the email, was an account set up and to confirm removal of same but their phone is always left unanswered and so are emails. I am now going to the European data protection commission. Totally unacceptable.
Your reviews are not anonymous. They will give the lawyer you reviewed your IP and email if they submit a subpoena. Do not use this site.
Please beware ! They wi always will go to the lawyer side . They have a conflict of interest What un honest and unprofessional company!! Stay away

Daniel T. Goodwin of The Law Offices of Daniel T. Goodwin 10901 W 120th Ave Ste 350, Broomfield, CO 80021 defended my former employers in a wage claim lawsuit I had filed seeking wages due upon termination of employment. Daniel T. Goodwin, as proven on the record of the Court, swore simultaneously before BOTH the Colorado Division of Labor, and the Weld County District Court, that NEITHER had jurisdiction over my wage claim, because the matter was before the other.
i was stripped of my Due Process right, and all evidence to prosecute my claim, the case was dismissed, and the employers were awarded attorney's fees in excess of $20,000.00. tey immediately encumbered my home with numerous liens, garnished my wages, and the Weld County, CO DA had my home raided, and I was arrested when I refused to give my tax returns, and the deed to my home to my former employers. Avvo concealed it all. The full horrible 8 year story will be published at hartmannconspiracy dot com September 2021 when the website is reinitiated.
Warning people
Avvo will discriminate you , They will not post reviews against lawyer corrupt and paying them , they invent ghee own policy this a conflict of interest!
Don’t post anything with them all is not honest
Avvo's customer service is a joke. I am a tenant in a 2 family home, and the other tenant family is neglecting their pets and damaging my property. They do not speak English, so I can't communicate with them; and my landlord seems to treat them with kid gloves. For this and other reasons, I believe they are illegal immigrants. Because they're certainly not awful people and I suspect that they may be illegal, I am reluctant to call the police on them which may get them into more trouble than is necessary. I'm sure that most people, lawyers included, after hearing my entire issue, would recommend that I first speak with them or call the police before getting legal assistance. In order to not waste answers from Avvo's lawyers with these recommendations and to stress that those two options are kind of out of the question, I made sure to include our inability to communicate and my reluctance to involve the police in the other facts in my question.
When I went to see my question and potential answers, I couldn't find it. Upon emailing customer service, I was informed by a very nasty "senior customer care representative" named Katherine who informed me that my question wasn't posted (which I'd have never known if I didn't contact them) because I included "unnecessary information" in it. Apparently, "their immigration status and inability to speak English" are irrelevant and discriminatory. I responded to reiterate that everyone suggests speaking with the neighbors first, and then if all else fails, calling my landlord or the police, as well as my reasons for not trying these options first. This "senior customer care representative" never responded to this or any subsequent emails from me.
So, even though I made it clear that I'd rather not get these people into trouble with immigration by involving the police, and cannot do this by speaking with them regarding the issues, one person at Avvo with insufficient reading comprehension skills decided that I must have an issue with illegal immigrants, and decided that I don't deserve legal advice. She also is apparently allowed to completely ignore customers despite being a "senior customer care representative."
Edit/reply: Ahhh, yes. "Community guidelines." Thorough explanation. The only way this would be against your guidelines is if I was just referencing immigration status and language barrier as insults. We both know that this is not the case. Your lovely "senior customer care representative" proved this when she decided to completely ignore that for the second time when I responded to her email. Because if there was a valid reason, a good customer service representative would explain. You can tell Katherine that the police are now involved and, as predicted, the matter is way larger than it needed to be.

The website is horrible. I posted 5 simple legitimate questions AND WAITING for reply whole day long for two continuous days during the difficult pandemic times. They took all down after it answered for no reason. I couldn't reach them for 2 days. It's insane when I need to file a motion on time that no one was responsive as if dead.

The Avvo Founders: Mark Britton, Sendi Widjaja, Paul Bloom should move to China or Russia where censorship is alive and well. This company is a public disgrace because they intentionally censor negative reviews of attorneys even those reviews that are factual and legitimate. The public has a right to know about errant attorneys. Avvo is preventing that type of disclosure. In my opinion, this company is an abomination. Moreover, I have previously written explaining why Avvo's rating system is biased and hugely flawed. Avvo has a terrible track record - Despicable censorship and a seriously flawed rating system. Solution: Avvo should move their headquarters to Beijing or Moscow. They'll be gladly welcomed! By the way, giving this company 1 Star is 1 Star too many. They deserve NO STARS!
