Astutium web hosting

I make it clear that I do not work for Astutium and my only connection with them is that they host my websites.
I have tried finding out who the previous reviewer Web Comic are and have only been able to find a company in the USA.
The evidence seems to be that the review is a hoax.
I have used Astutium for over 17 years and have never had any problems with any aspect of domains.
Purchasing a domain name is easy and a good price.
Hosting is brilliant and you do not have to start at the top level. I have started with a normal level which is then automatically upgraded to the next level. This means that you don't start out paying for data you don't use.
There has never been any issues with hosting. When they have upgraded servers they send out an email in advance and do the upgrading in the early mornings when activity is low online in the UK.
Astutium work with me by charging me for actual usage and upgrade as usage goes up. Which for me is the right way to go they get more when you get more.
Speed is brilliant.
They give a good choice of website design software.
At the moment I have the following domains hosted by them. CADIC, Luv2Win, Rolosa, Rolosp, ACCIVA and TAPG

Sorry to see you appear unhappy with our services. Unfortunately I cannot find any record of you having ever been one of our clients, or any details/reports of any issues with the performance of any of our servers/services. All systems are and continue to be fully operation,. with no "slowness" of any kind with any of control panels or the hosting.

They have hosted my website for a few years

They have hosted my websites for a few years now, ever since they took over Simply Be Hosted when the guy there retired. They have been fine and I have been able to get answers to my questions when needed. My websites have hardly ever been "down" so pretty reliable. A bit expensive but I haven't found anywhere cheaper !! overall a reasonable service thanks all.

Perfectly functional - but hidden costs for administering dns

Site is functional and they are easy to deal with, reasonably priced domains. However unlike other providers (e.g. namecheap, heart internet). They charge for dns services (10 GBP per year per domain, 30 GBP per year for 10 domains). (My first domain I registered without them

You'll pretty much have to put up with this for while - since changing registrar is fiddly and only makes sense when you are nearing the end of your registration. Just set an alarm for when your registration next expires and move them elsewhere. In the meantime there are free DNS providers that you can use (go to manage your domains and change ns settings). Cloudflare is a notable contender here. It's a bit of a thorny question how reasonable this is. It's somehow become an accepted norm that DNS services come bundled with domain registrars... but they are separate services.

Cloudflare also provide an API for dns updates so you don't have to fiddle with an annoying website and their website is quite easy to use (and pretty looking - if you care about this sort of). So maybe you might like to use cloudflare even if your registrar provides you something for free.

Let's see how long it is before someone tries to take this review down (not a comment on astutium - but my general experience with posting things on trustpilot)

Hi Tom

The Self-Service DNS for domains registered with us is completely free, always has been and there have never been any plans to change that - you simply add it to your domain in the client portal.

We do charge for our DNS Management Service for those who do not want to handle dns entries/zones/etc themselves - at the costs you describe - as it can and does take up a lot of staff time - but that's always been entirely optional, unnecessary if you have hosting with us, and separate to the DIY option.

They took over MiniVPS with a serious attitude problem and continue to break the law.

First off, if I could leave them 0 stars I would.

I requested in writing to them by email to cancel a service I had with MiniVPS which was more than 3x cheaper than what these clowns wanted to charge me.

They proceeded to tell me that they only accepted cancellations by their website - which I couldn't access and no password reset was working, I told them again I wanted to cancel but they just wasn't bothered.

Anyway, they terminated my service early on the 30th of December 2015, even though it was supposed to run until 17th of January 2016, I thought oh well, they finally got the hint. Incorrect. Today I receive and invoice overdue email - shocking since in writing I clearly told them twice way way way before any invoice was due I'd like to cancel the service.

Anyway the password reset function actually worked this time, and here we go, I write a cancellation request, submit it, only to be told there are no cancellations whilst an outstanding invoice is pending.

This has made me have to email them again, I've outlined in detail to them that there was a written request to cancel, I had in no way signed or agreed to their new terms and conditions, and they had broken any contract that may have been crossed over from MiniVPS by cancelling my service early.

I would highly suggest that people keep away from this company. If you were looking to buy, do it elsewhere and save yourself some hassle.
