Quoted a life insurance policy amount of $580.., Offered return of premium at the end of a 15 year term.

Canceled my insurance in place to change to them to save $200 a month and get return of premium option. Told later it was not available. Then the rate changed to 1800 per month. More than my mortgage.

I am in excellent health. Retired from the army. They switch the rate at the last minute to $1,800 per month.

Bad Business, Bait and switch.

I have my health printout I am green in every area but one cholesterol that is slightly in the red.

I went back to Transamerica.

Dont Trust Assurity. Dishonest business practices. Their Word is NO GOOD.

Dont be like me and waste your time with them.

Filed a claim with supporting letters…

Filed a claim with supporting letters from two healthcare providers, Assurity denied claim due to their unsupported opinion of when injury happened even though diagnostic tests and provider's opinions stated it was during time of active policy. Their agents repeatedly made contradictions with statements and misleading information that always resulted in denials. Very poor communication skills and understanding of their own policy details. Very unsatisfied and would not recommend to friends or family.

Waiting to make a payment.

I've been with this company for about 20 years now.
I have my life insurance through them
I use to be able to go in on my phone and make a payment. For some reason they've stopped that unless your on a computer.
Right this minute I have been on hold for 1 hour trying to make a payment.
This happens every month. I'm sick of this shit.
They let you leave a call back number but the ringer on my phone doesn't work so I have no choice but to wait.
This is totally ridiculous. If you say anything to them they get defensive with you like it isn't their fault you had your wait.
I've read alot of reviews on here that say they don't pay out on death benefits but they frigging better pay my boys if something happens to me.
I'm going to leave a note in my will that says if they don't want to pay it or give them the run-around I want them to sue them for the money.
And believe me my boys are ruthless and they will definitely do this.
Hopefully this won't happen though.

Hi Patty, first thank you for your 20 years of loyalty with Assurity! We're very sorry if you happened to experience long hold times. While HTML web browsers are what we primarily support, accessing the site on your phone should also work - please let us know if that issue persists as we'll want to look into that. Regarding the hold time, since your ringer doesn't work, I may suggest using the vibrate option on your mobile phone, as the callback feature is the best option. Sorry if this became an inconvenience to you, however. We aim to answer all our calls under 60 seconds, but sometimes that can fluctuate depending on the day. Please feel free to email our customer support team directly at clientservices@assurity.com. Someone will be happy to help you! Thanks.

Turn 62, get screwed by Assurity

My husband purchased a life insurance policy about 11 years ago with Assurity. At the time it was only $23 a month because he was 51, fast forward to January of this year, 2025, my husband turned 62 and when I looked at our bank statement just about a week ago I noticed an amount of $188 had been debited to Assurity. My husband called to find out what was going on and they told him when you turn 62 that's how much your premium goes up to.. from $23 to $188! Now, the problem really is trying to get that canceled and that payment reimbursed. That is a joke, they emailed the two papers I needed to get printed out, filled out, signed and emailed back, which I did the very same day and now all I get are emails saying that they cannot open the attachments which are the paperwork they need to cancel the insurance and reimburse the money to our account. I have sent it to them five times. Today I'm going to try to fax it, but I'm sure they will have an excuse why they didn't receive that also.. in the meantime, there's no doubt in my mind that every day that goes by that we can't get this canceled they are going to prorate it and we will never see that $188, it will probably be about $10 before this is all over with and then we probably won't see that either.. very very bad insurance company! Do not use them for any reason whatsoever! You've been warned

Burn your money instead

Agree with those who say it's a scam and they give you the run around. You want to lose money burn it instead. I opted for tuition coverage in the event of the death of me or my spouse. Sadly my husband passed away October '24 When attempting to have ASSurity pay out on the claim, they said I was not the policy holder so could not be the beneficiary. They said my daughter was, so it would be her husband that had to die. They had NOTHING to prove my daughter was the coverage holder, except her unsigned name on a piece of paper, while i had signatures proving who was paying the tuition and signed up for the coverage to begin with. After going back and forth with them several times, while grieving the death of my best friend, I finally decided they were typical insurance fraudsters who take your money, but won't pay out. I was grateful I only lost out $25. Don't do business with this company. It's sad they would prey on a new widow.

My Disability policy purchased since 1997, my claim field in 2024 was denied.

My Disability policy was purchased since 1997, when i was in my early 30ths, and i have kept it active all these years. I submitted a separately new claim, for a totally different illness last year 2024, after returning to work for a mount of time after my previous illness. My claim was baslessly denied by Assurity Life Insurance Company.
I asked for an original copy of my policy, since i had missed place my policy, they gave me all the running around, and ended up sending me a put together paperwork without the application that i field out when i purchased the policy, calling it my policy.

TOTAL SCAM

THe language inthe policy is extremely misleading, and what THEY HAVE IN THEIR POLICY does NOT MATCH what they mail you in yours. Example: policy states that as long as you are treated by a physician within 60 days of an accident, its covered. HOWEVER what the policy doesnt say is that any and all follow up treatment (MRI, XRAY, etc) must ALSO be done within that SAME 60 day period. Anyone of sound mind knows that all doctors (outside of an ER visit) look you over, prescribe the lease invasive treatment and tell you to come back in a month if it still hurts.t They then proceed in this same fashion. But with Assurity you can wait to go to the doctor, but you better make sure you get an XRAY, MRI, and referral to a specialist all on the same day, then make sure you get in to see the specialist all in the same week, because you have to have the surgery (if you end up needing it) within 180 days of the accident. Think about that: Have a fall, 3 weeks later, still hurts Go to a doctor (now you are close to 30 days), they look at it, maybe give you a shot, tell you to come back 3-4 weeks (now you are at 50 days minimum) go back to the doctor, he refers you to a specialist, you immediately call the specialist, who has an opening in 2 weeks (now you are past your 60 days, at about 80 days). You go see the specialist who orders an MRI (sorry that MRI not covered because you didnt have it done within 60 days of your fall), MRI results are back 2 weeks later, and you get a follow up appointment the next day (now you are at 100 days) specialist recommends surgery, but doesnt have an available day to perform the surgery until 45 days later- now you are outside the 180 day treatment window and they wont pay for the surgery, or any of the subsequent "policy allowances" as all of that (physical therapy, etc) has to happen within 180 days (6 months) of the date of your fall. The only way this would EVER happen is if you went to the doctor the day you fell and DEMANDED he get an MRI XRAY, refer you to a specialist all in the same week so you can make sure to have the surgery, and the PT all within a 6 month time period. Your doctors professional advice is disregarded completely. TOTAL RIP OFF. If you get accident insurance, plan to get paid $200 for a doctors visit, and thats it, unless you are transported to the ER and have emergency surgery.

Assurity's Reply Was Pointless

I left a review here to help others not waste their money with Assurity. I did eventually receive a reply saying to contact Jon at 800-869-0355 ext. 4400, but he doesn't answer his phone. I tried a few times. He eventually left me a message that said to contact customer connections at ext. 4279 and anyone there should be able to help me. I wasn't asking for help. I leave reviews to help others. This company denied my son's life insurance claim. I just hope others don't fall for Assurity's false sense of security.

DO NOT TAKE OUT REDUNDANCY COVER

I was made redundant in August after paying into this policy for numerous years they wanted everything even going back to my mortgage when I took the policy out in 2014. Luckily I still had a bit of paperwork and managed to get some statements from the building society. Every month it’s a hard to get the payment and then I found a job after 2 months and they told me I owed them money for another month's premium. Save your money this policy is not worth it.

Great customer service

I have had a great experience with Assurity. Hands down the most reasonable pricing for an individual short term disability policy. Online portal is very user friendly. Customer service has been top notch. Always very prompt responses. I had one disability claim and payout was quick and the whole process was seamless. My new employer offers disability benefits. Otherwise, would certainly continue with Assurity. Highly recommend!

Customer service is not very good. If you like waiting on the phone this is the company. Would not recommend. I wonder if Dave Ramsey still endorses them. If so he should read the reviews. He would change his mine if he had to deal with the customer service.

Terrible company I applied for short…

Terrible company I applied for short term disability and the people interviewing me on the other line took three weeks to make a call they did not explain the rationale for asking me about genital diseases???Additionally they did not have the professionalism to contact me themselves to let me know of the denial.

RUN, fast

RUN. Seriously shady and dishonest practices. Put your money into a bank account instead of trusting in a company that posts pictures playing golf while dragging out processing your claim way past legal timeliness. Do not EVER take out a critical illness policy because when they can't deny your claim, they will try and cancel your policy based on narratives they create from your medical records.
