Clean'ish, outdated & Lifts do not take you to the level the rooms are on!

I stayed here for 2 nights last week whilst on a course just outside of Bristol. The room I was allocated was dated & scruffy:
* chipped bath
* only one tap worked on the sink
* pathetic electric shower
* bath end panel was damaged (water)
* paintwork was scuffed & chipped off
One of my bedroom windows looked directly onto a skip in the grounds where old mattresses etc were disposed of (ugh).
My room was on the 1st floor, I took the lift to 1 & then because of the higgldy piggldy layout of the building I had to go down a half flight of stairs then back up 2 half flights of stairs to reach my room. Madness!
I had to move the bed so I could reach a socket to charge my phone and that is when I realised the cleaning was superficial only!
Fortunately, the sheets were clean which is the ONLY reason I stayed.
I did not eat anything in the hotel so can't comment on the food. The receptionist was cordial but not friendly, no smile. No other staff member spoke to me even though I passed several of them whilst going to/from my room.
Car Parking was £3.50 extra per day.
It's location Is good BUT Crest need to invest some serious money in this hotel & it's people if it is to survive.
I wish I'd been quicker & booked the Premier Inn South before it sold out!
I would NOT recommend this hotel.

The photos on their website do not match!

We had to change rooms as the first room:
- The bed sheets had not been cleaned, there was blood on the sheets
- Dead insects in the light fittings

The second room:
- Uneven floor with holes in it in the toilet
- damaged bedframe and door frame
- Shower had no markings as to what was hot/cold or how to use it, inconsistent usage.
- The room heated up alot temperate wise which required the window to be opened (I got a chill and cold due to this)

Breakfast:
- Eggs were not cooked correctly
- Hash browns over cooked

Other issues:
- The decour is inconsistent clearly showing the only attention to detail is done in the front reception and the photos on the website do not match either of the two rooms, I felt I had been conned as the photos online were quite luxurious but in reality they were not even close.
- In the grounds in front of the hotel are broken and damage light fittings and signs.

The rooms are priced the same as other rooms by other hotels but should be half the price at most due to the fact the rooms do not look like their advertised photos which i feel i was mis sold the hotel rooms.

Very poor quality and I would avoid the hotel at all costs in the future.

Here’s a rewritten version of your complaint in a more formal and structured tone:

---

**Formal Complaint Regarding Recent Stay**

Dear Hotel Manager/Customer Services,

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my recent stay at your hotel, which fell significantly below the standards advertised and expected.

Upon arrival, I was allocated a room that was wholly unacceptable:

* The bed sheets were not clean and had visible blood stains.
* Dead insects were present inside the light fittings.
* Stains on the chair on the room from who knows what, no attempt to clean this, the chair was just left for us to use!

Due to these issues, I was moved to a second room, which unfortunately also presented several problems:

* The toilet floor was uneven and had holes in it.
* The bedframe and door frame were both damaged.
* The shower had no markings to indicate hot or cold water, and its operation was inconsistent.
* The room became excessively hot, requiring me to keep the window open, which resulted in me becoming unwell with a chill.
* The fan has never been cleaned.
* The radiators were not cleaned and this is on top of the radiator which was visible
* Above the curtains there was dust and dirt.
* The bath mat contained mould on it which was easily wiped off so this is an easy bit of cleaning which was never done.
* The bowel containing out tea and coffee had tea stains from the previous occupant of the room, again not cleaned or checked.
* Damage to the door and walls which was never repaired
* Damage to the bathroom with very sloopy repair work done.

The breakfast service was also unsatisfactory:

* Eggs were undercooked.
* Hash browns were overcooked.

In addition, the overall presentation of the hotel was disappointing:

* The décor was inconsistent, and it was clear that only the reception area had been maintained to the standard shown online.
* The photos on your website depicted a far more luxurious environment than what I actually experienced. I feel misled by this, as the rooms bore little resemblance to the advertised images.
* The grounds outside the hotel were poorly maintained, with broken and damaged light fittings and signage.

Considering the above, I strongly believe that the rooms are priced unfairly. The rates are comparable to other hotels that genuinely provide the quality advertised, whereas your rooms should be priced at no more than half of the current rate, given their actual condition.

Overall, this was a very poor experience, and I would not consider staying at your hotel again. I request an appropriate resolution to this matter, which I believe should include a refund or substantial compensation for the misleading advertising and substandard accommodation provided.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Yours sincerely,
David

Do you want me to make this **more assertive and demanding** (stronger legal/consumer rights tone), or **slightly softer** to encourage a goodwill refund?

Yours sincerely,
