Takes payment and doesn't deliver the services...beware!
We approached Argotour several months ahead of our Ukraine trip and ended up booking two tours with them. The first, the Metro station tour of Kyiv went smoothly. After this tour we paid for both tours.
The second tour was supposed to be a tailormade private tour in Odessa for 3 people covering Moldavanka, Privoz (including the market) and the old quarter across the road from Deribasovskaya Street. We specifically stressed that we were looking for off the beaten path, so other areas with old buildings, especially slightly dilapidated would also be of interest to us.
When our guide showed up she told us she was booked for a regular city tour walking by the hightlights of the central part of the city. She knew nothing of the places we desired to see. She tried for about ½ and hour and then we let her go, as she could not show us anything we had asked to see. On top of this we had extra expenses taking an uber plus a taxi to another area of town where she thought (but didn't know) there might be things of interest. The area looked interesting from the car, but she was reluctant to guide us there as she did not know the area.
So all in all: a waste of our precious short time in Odessa.
Upon returning home I contacted Argotour to let them know what happened. They told me they would write their our partner in Odessa and wait for their feedback. Nothing happened. I wait patiently and 25 days later I ask for them to get back to me. And the answer really takes the prize:
"Unfortunately we have not got any explanations from our partner.
In this case we apologise for the situation if some were wrong." followed by a "Unfortunately we don't refund the payment for the services".
Interesting considering we actually didn't receive the services we paid for - that was the whole point. Yet the fact that Argotour has engaged a partner to do the tour and this partner cannot fulfill the requirements somehow becomes our problem because we paid ahead.
Please be careful if thinking of using them - if things go wrong they obviously take no responsibility whatsoever. In our case we were left having paid for something we didn't receive and they clearly couldn't care less.
