After our vehicle wasn't available in Kittilä due to a misunderstanding, a quick phone call was all it took, and a very friendly colleague brought the car from Rovaniemi just two hours later, completely hassle-free. Pick-up and drop-off were totally straightforward. The local colleague was incredibly friendly and helpful with all our questions. We even received tips and information about the vehicle and nearby attractions via email. You just don't get that kind of service from the so-called big companies. This is how car rental should be done. We wish you continued success, especially to the entire team.

Great company, always book with them when i come to the faroes. Clean, modern cars, efficient check in and check out. Highly recommended!

Will absolutely give 0 rating (if it was possible). Booked a car in March 2025 and paid the deposit. Visited Faroe in July 2025 and got an uncharged wifi module with the car.
Got a replacement that still wasn't charged. Was asked to purchase a charger. Why?
Moving on, it's November 2025, we still haven't gotten our deposit refunded (after several repeated emails).
Waiting for a Christmas miracle!

Easy booking, fair prices, and automatic return of deposit after deduction of tunnel fees.
The cars however are not new, and the was not cleaned from the previous user(s).

4 days before scheduled arrival in Thorshavn we booked a rental car. Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip the next day. Due to the company's cancellation policy, which is a minimum of 72 hours notice before the rental starts, we lost our full payment (620 Euro)

We have rented the car over web page of Arctic rental cars and everything was excellent. No hidden costs or any problems during our 6 day trip. We have paid deposit before coming to Faroe Islands and the difference was paid back 2 days after we come home, exactly the amount it should be.

Apart from some minor issues concerning the deposit refund, this company was very attentive twice and their cars and service properly work. Just pay attention to the charges for tunnels involvement as in general they are confusing.

Highly recommended for anyone.
A+++++ service, car was brilliant and much better than expected.

I used Vágar Airport.
Since the pick-up and return of the car key are automated, there is no need to go to the counter.
My itinerary involved arriving at night and departing early in the morning, so this was very convenient and helpful.
There was also a very minor issue, but it was handled promptly and courteously.
I will definitely use this service again when I visit the Faroe Islands next time.

I previously left a negative review as my deposit had not been returned and my emails went unanswered. I’m pleased to say that Arctic Car Hire have now resolved this fully – my deposit was refunded and I was also compensated with free tolls.

Although the lack of communication at first was very frustrating, I do appreciate that they ultimately made things right. The car itself was reliable and the return process was straightforward.

Thank you to Arctic Car Hire for correcting the situation. I hope they can improve their customer communication so others don’t go through the same initial stress.

Avoid Arctic Car Hire Faroe Islands – Dishonest and Unresponsive

I would strongly advise against renting from Arctic Car Hire in the Faroe Islands. I returned the car in perfect condition with a full tank, yet my deposit has been withheld with no explanation. Despite sending multiple polite emails asking for this to be resolved, Magni at Arctic Car Hire has completely ignored me.

This is unprofessional, dishonest, and feels like outright theft. If you value your money and peace of mind, do not rent from these people. There are plenty of other reputable car hire companies in the Faroes – avoid this one at all costs.

I had a great experience with Arctic Car Rental on the Faroe Islands. The car was in excellent condition – clean, reliable, and perfect for exploring the islands.

The service was efficient and impressively automated – from booking to document handling, everything was smooth and clear. I especially appreciated the self-service key pickup, which was incredibly convenient and easy to use.

The team was also very flexible and accommodating when I needed some help – they really went out of their way to assist me, and communication was always quick and friendly.

It may not be the cheapest option on the islands, but it’s definitely a high-quality, trustworthy service – and one I would happily use again. Highly recommended!

Extremely Disappointing Post-Rental Experience – Not Recommended

I rented a car from Arctic in May 2025 and while the rental process itself was fine, the post-rental experience has been extremely disappointing.

After returning the car, it took about five weeks to receive my deposit back. Shortly after that, I was sent a final invoice to be paid online. The invoice included a clear error – it incorrectly listed the safety deposit again as part of the charges. After several emails and phone calls, they acknowledged the mistake and corrected the amount. I paid the outstanding balance on a Friday.

However, the following Monday, my card was charged again for the same amount – a clear double charge. It took multiple emails and phone calls to get the company to acknowledge the mistake. Once they did, they issued a refund, but the amount refunded was €35 less than what was double-charged.

Despite numerous emails requesting they refund the missing €35 – which I believe should be their responsibility given the error was entirely on their side – they refused. I also made four separate requests to obtain a refund receipt or any official confirmation of how much they have actually refunded, which were all ignored.

This experience reflects extremely poor customer service and a frustrating lack of accountability. I cannot recommend renting from Arctic and would strongly suggest looking at other rental companies with better customer support and billing practices.

UPD 28.07.2025 (original review posted on 23.07.2025): after posting this review on google maps and trustpilot, the agency messaged and called me immediately - apologising, asking to delete the poor review and promising they will refund the missing money. I have now received the remaining refund in my bank account.

Rented a car from Arctic for our holiday in Faroe Islands. It is very expensive to rent cars in the high season and Arctic had a good price for week long period. C class medium car (booked a Golf VI and got a Renault Captur which is similar) which was provided by Sixt at the airport. Everything worked smoothly and super nice car which was almost brand new.

Easy booking, pick up and delivery. Showed great flexibility in allowing late delivery due to delayed flight.

Excellent service

Great option to be able to charge tunnel via car rental. HOWEVER be aware that only two tunnel fees are covered when choosing this option with the rental - and that these are charged PER DAY.
If you only need to arrive at the Airport and not go to Vagar until you fly out - it's probably cheaper to per per passage, rather than to choose this option with the rental.
