Very hard - possibly illegal - sell of insurance

I bought a cheap freezer, which arrived safely and I'm happy with it and the price. The day after ordering it I got a phonecall confirming delivery, etc. The nice man did a big talk about the great care I was going to get, with free repairs, free replacements, etc and I'd get the paperwork confirming it and I could cancel any time. I said I didn't want to sign up for that now but said I'd read the paperwork and see if I wanted to sign up or not. He then confirmed the payment details I'd used to order the freezer and I heard him brush over the phrase 'Direct Debit' and I had to stop him to very clearly say I didn't approve any Direct Debit payment. He was setting me up to pay £5 a month for a service I never asked for or approved, and I can imagine a lot of people would end up paying this without even realising. He sounded annoyed when I blocked it and hung up very quickly, saying my cheap freezer wouldn't be protected. Beware!

Hi Ed

I'm really glad that you're pleased with service we offer, and I trust you're happy with your new tumble dryer.

However, I'm sorry to read that you're unhappy with the calls you've received regarding the Protection Plan that we offer. The Plan offers additional peace of mind when buying an appliance and will protect you for more than a standard manufacturer warranty. I'll ensure your comments are passed on to our Quality Team as we're always looking to improve the service we offer.

I hope this experience won't stop you from choosing us again in the future.

Many thanks

Exceptional Service!!!

From the moment i placed my order for a Samsung Fridge-Freezer i was made to feel like they really cared about my custom. From the very 1st moment i was kept informed of the progress of my order. I'd arranged for a Tuesday delivery, and on Monday I got an automated phone call and a txt saying that i will receive a message at 7am the following morning. True to their word I got a txt saying that I will receive my order between 8am and 11am I then received an automated phonecall saying the same, and then I received a phone call off the driver telling that it will be between 8am and 9am. When they arrived they were very efficient and had no troube getting the Fridge through the door and into my kitchen. Overall I'm incredibly impressed With Appliance Deals and will definately be ordering from them again. Thankyou

Easy, fast and efficient service.

Ordered a cooker on a Sunday afternoon paying £9.99 to have it delivered the next day, although delivery is offered free if you can wait. I was kept informed of the estimated delivery time throughout the morning with it arriving before midday on the Monday. I also selected to have my old cooker taken away for £9.99 which saved a lot of hassle.

I haven't found the cooker cheaper anywhere else and the delivery men were charming. I will definitely use Appliance Deals again and recommend them.

Good price and great delivery service

I have bought a dryer from appliancedeals.co.uk. The price was good (40£ less than Curry's, for example) and the delivery service excellent: I had picked the first "free delivery" day in the calendar when checking out. Then I have received an sms and an automatic phone call the day before the delivery to confirm the 4 hours slot assigned to my delivery and finally a phone call from the driver a couple of hours before the delivery. All smooth.

After dealing with Currys this company was a breath of fresh air

I had a damaged fridge freezer delivered yesterday by Currys (KNOWHOW) & didn't get a whiff of an apology when I rang to arrange its return. I then had another delivered by Appliancedeals this morning. All went to plan. Delivery man rang an hour before to confirm time. They let me unpack the item to make sure I didn't have another duffer. Then the icing on the cake was that within 2 hours they rang me to get feedback on my experience with the delivery so they could feedback to their staff. 10 out of 10 for both customer & staff consideration.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I've been sat in my living room waiting for my delivery since 1000 this morning. At just gone 2pm (please note I was assured a delivery slot of 1000-1400), I received a call from Customer Services advising that the driver is refusing to make the delivery as there is nowhere 'suitable' for him to park. I pointed out that when placing the order, I stated that there were parking restrictions in the area but as I did not hear anything else from the company re. this assumed there was no problem (please also note I live in a town centre, directly next to a multi-storey car park). I ran straight out so I could speak to the driver face to face to find that he had already left the site. Customer service then called me again, apologising throughout, but stated that they could not persuade the driver to deliver the washing machine to my flat and the only thing they could offer me is that the driver would get the washing machine out of the van, and then I (may I just point out that I'm 24, petite, and live in a 6th floor flat) could somehow get the washing machine in to the flat, and bring the old washing machine down to him. Despite speaking with the supervisor at customer services, no alternative arrangements were offered.
So, an hour later, the only thing I have established is that the driver is miles away, still refusing to make any sort of delivery (despite my father leaving work early and offering to carry the machine into the flat) as he is running 3 hours late (surely refusing to deliver my order will have saved him 20 minutes?? He definitely wasn’t near my building for longer than 30 seconds) and the company have advised I can rebook delivery (with no guarantee that the next driver won't do the same thing) or cancel my order. I’ve opted for the latter option. I now have a 3 – 5 working day wait for the money to be returned to my account.
I would definitely not use this company again, and thoroughly recommend that if you are considering using them, Google them for complaints first - I am nowhere near the first person to have such issues. I'm absolutely disgusted with the 'service' that has been provided.

Absolutely terrible, unreliable delivery service

Ordered a cooker hood and paid extra for next day delivery between 7am and midday. Received a phone call at 7.15pm the night before and said they now couldnt deliver for another 4 days. I had booked an electrician to come to fit the item that afternoon which i now had to cancel. Demanded a refund and went elsewhere - will never use appliance deals again. Completely unreliable.

Great price and service

Ordered a new washing machine and these guys had the best price online. Speedy delivery and the only gripe is that if you pay for their collection service they don't disconnect your old machine for you (could be a pain for some).

Don't deliver to 99% of postcodes - they lie

They took order and I paid - They say they deliver to 99% of the postcodes in UK - they don't . They then cancelled saying they don't deliver to my postcode - mainland Scotland. Be aware they lie so I would be suspect about anything else they say.

Fantastic value and customer service

Used this site because it offered model of fridge freezer we wanted at the best price. Everything ran smoothly from purchase online through to speedy delivery and installation and we were kept up to date about delivery times so no hanging around.
All this would have been enough to encourage us to use the company again anyway but they really came into their own when our appliance broke down due to a manufacturing fault and, after unsuccessful free repairs, they delivered us a replacement, refunded the price difference as had a different model which was cheaper and even compensated us for food loss when the manufacturer (Hoover) refused to take responsibility. A well trained, UK based customer service team at the call centre all add to the appeal and we would definitely recommend this company!

A great experience

I ordered a fridge/freezer from appliancedeals.co.uk they were the cheapest for the product around with no delivery charge. A friendly member of staff rang the next day to confirm my order and delivery arrangements. The day before I received a reminder text and an automated phone call so that I knew which time slot I was allocated.

The people who delivered the cooker were friendly. They unpacked and disposed of the packaging, as well as allowing me to inspect the product before signing for it.

(NB. I ordered another product from applianceonline.co.uk, they can in the same lorry and provided exactly the same experience)

Overall a brilliant experience. I would definitely recommend appliancedeals.

Best customer service I've had in years

Not only did I receive a call & text the night before (and 10 mins before) delivery, when I had a problem with my new fridge, they sorted it out in the most professional manner I've seen in years.

Upon unpacking, I discovered that one of the freezer drawers had a crack in it. I called the helpline and the person who answered immediately called the manufacturer to order a replacement. In fact, he conference called the manufacturer so I could hear on the phone that the part had been ordered. The person from the manufacturer told me the delivery date for the replacement, so there was no question that the part was truly on its way. AMAZING!! I am American and I am used to getting fairly poor customer service in the UK compared to what I am used to. Appliance Deals has shown me that it is possible to get really great service here, too. If I could give 6 stars I would!

phone number on the site does not work!

Ordered a Siemens fridge/freezer and was informed about the order progress all the time via email and text. The delivery was running late - still on the same day though, but when I tried to contact the company the phone number on their website was not working, so I had to look up on the companies house website and found the correct contact info.
That's my only complaint about appliancedeals.co.uk, otherwise I'd rate it 5 stars!

The way on-line shopping should be.

Ordered a Bosch dishwasher from Appliance Deals on online on 29/6/09. Kept me fully updated by phone on expected delivery times and delivered on 2//7/09-as promised.
Delivery guys were polite, removed all packaging, checked the new appliance and disposed of the the old one. A very good and hassle free experience. I certainly recommend them and would use again.
