The bus was supposed to leave here in…

The bus was supposed to leave here in Southern France at 9 o’clock and it is now 926 and the bus has not even shown up yet. Worse, the feature track your bus does not work on their website, so you have no idea where it is and how much time you may or may not have

Alsa

I took Alsa buses a few times in the past and everything worked out alright. The ticket check was always kind of chaotic, some drivers had a scanner, some had a physical list to check the passangers.
However, I went from Malaga to Sevilla in June 2025. There were two buses for this particular connection. Neither of them had any kind of signage. We only found out we're on bus 2 instead of bus 1 after some other passanger started shouting this aloud. There was some email information regarding this prior to the trip, but it was all in Spanish which we do not understand. Why is the purchase confirmation in English and the follow-up info in Spanish only, I do not comprehend.
We managed to switch to the right bus just in time for departure, only to find our allocated seat occupied by someone who wasn't willing to move and hence had to occupy another people's seats. Turns out, only the tourists tried to take the seats they were assigned to, the locals didn't bother at all and just sat down anywhere they wanted. This caused a commotion, but the driver didn't do anything about this and just told everyone to sit down. I'm happy that we didn't pay extra to choose preferred seats as Alsa apparently doesn't care about this either.

-1 if I could

-1 if I could. Rude driver, shouting at customers like school children. Never felt so uncomfortable by a service before. Not a nice first impression of Costa Blanca. A little empathy doesn’t go a long way towards paying customers. Have an issue with tourists? Maybe find another job

Poor Service

Poor Service
Booked the bus from Perpignan to Barcelona Airport
1.40 minutes late,
2. despite paying for seats it seemed to be a free for all with people sitting anywhere.
3.despite being late they decided to wash the bus at the Barcelona bus station despite people needing to go to the airport to catch flights.

Recent very comfortable Madrid trip

Recent very comfortable trip from Madrid to San Sebastian. Seats perfectly comfortable even for a 6 hr journey with one 20 min bathroom stop. Relatively inexpensive and on time. However, our trip was marred by 4 guys who played noisy chat and comedy tv shows. They also talked far too loudly for the whole trip. They couldnt be ignored. The driver independently spoke to them twice. It seemed that the noise level even bothered him. On the second time he strongly reprimanded them and he achieved a temporary effect in stopping the noise level but only for about half an hour. I dont think the noise level would have been tolerated for 10 minutes on a flight. Hard to know what more the driver could have done other than throw them off.

I simply had to give a high rating

I simply had to give a high rating, as I had only seen low ratings online before travelling, whereas I LOVED this trip! Staff were great, seats were incredibly comfortable and the aircon was brilliant (a must in Spain!!). There were charging point under every seat, and plenty of leg room. The driving was absolutely fine whereby as a passenger you felt perfectly safe throughout. Even though it was a long, 9 hour bus trip, it was broken up with a few toilet/ coffee stops on the way which was great. The only issue to mention is the onboard toilets: while I had been told beforehand there was no charge for these, there was actually a charge of 50 cents, so that might be a warning for passengers in the future - to be ready with 50 cents and 1 euro coins just in case (I've heard some charge 1 euro per toilet visit). Apart from that - all good & I'd highly recommend travelling both locally and on longer routes with Alsa.

Bank fraud - again

I purchased 2 passes from the ALSA app. The 2nd succeeded and appears in my ALSA account; the 1st one "disappeared" - the money is gone from my bank account, but I received nothing. I tried to call ALSA (premium rate), but after waiting 15 minutes, my call was dropped. My bank tells me that if ALSA don't respond, I must wait 1 month for the money to be returned - but I need to travel tomorrow.

I had a similar experience with ALSA a couple of months ago. ALSA abuse their monopoly in Spain - there is no other way to travel to my destination. The Spanish government need to ensure meaningful competition by introducing other bus operators.

Some of the drivers were so rude

Some of the drivers were so rude. They don’t speak to you and act like you don’t even exist. My experience was so bad, I’ve never had such an experience anywhere before. Definitely will avoid this company in the future.

Avoid at all costs

Lost €42 thanks to Alsa. Bought my bus ticket weeks in advance. A week before my trip, they cancel my bus and put me on the next one. So I go to the station at the new time, I wait, the bus never comes. Called Asla, they had cancelled all buses to Porto that day, never informed me. No email, no update on the app. Couldn't even find information online, nothing. Wasted my time, my money. Will never use Asla again, will warn others to avoid them.

Different bus, different place

I booked a place in a double-decker bus from Barcelona to Madrid but in reality it was just an ordinary bus with one level. I was confused and almost lost my departure trying to figure out where my bus was. The staff couldn't help as my Spanish was poor.

The company should've properly notified its passengers about such changes, especially knowing that there'd be foreigners and that your staff wouldn't be able to explain it all on their own.

Moreover, the place I'd chosen in the original bus turned out to be exactly in the area which I wanted to avoid so much - right in front of the toilet (luckily, it wasn't smelly at all) and with little space for my legs. We're compelled to spend money to reserve a certain place and not to have it assigned randomly, but they happen to be positioned differently anyway due to distinct buses.

The things I liked:
* We had 3 stops on your way.
* The bus arrived at my stop only 10 minutes later than expected.
* A WC on board is a good option.

Had tickets and seats booked for bus…

Had tickets and seats booked for bus from Madrid to Toledo. We arrived an hour early to a huge queue. Staff there were unhelpful, dismissive and rude. Said the ticket was good for any bus that day and we hadn’t booked a specific bus and seat despite our tickets showing this. We missed booked tours in Toledo as a result. ALSA continues to sell tickets from their machine and to people buying tickets on the bus despite clearly being oversubscribed already. Scammers - take money knowing that won’t fulfil their obligation.

I would give this service zero stars if…

I would give this service zero stars if I could. The bus captain was terrible. They did not allow us to use the restroom at all, and personal items or water were prohibited on the bus. The expectation was for us to sit on the bus for six hours without any breaks for water or restroom access. They charged €1 to use the toilet on the bus, but there was no water available, and the toilet didn't even flush.

When I tried to take a bathroom break at a petrol station, the driver nearly left me behind and almost ran me over. This was a disastrous experience. I strongly recommend avoiding this bus service, as they clearly do not care about their customers.

Disgrace, avoid at all cost

Terrible services, poor signage/guidances. I booked a return trip Faro to Sevilla (Nov 2024), there were no signage showing bus stop/lane in both Faro and Sevilla. I managed to find the stop at Faro, but at Sevilla, there was a departure board but turn out it did not show my ALSA bus departure lane so I missed the bus. The ALSA ticket desk charged me an extra 12 euro for next bus, and blaming me not ask them for bus lane (come on, when you have a departure board showing the departure information, who will go to ticket desk to check for departure when you have a long queue buying tickets?!)

Very good experience

I read all these bad reviews and was scared to book it to be honest. But you have to keep in mind that mostly only people with bad experience who are mad are motivated to take the time to write a review.

That’s why I am writing this on the return trip. I did a day round trip from Barcelona to Andorra, Bus clean, punctual, with toilet, nice driver, everything worked perfectly. Best price by far.

So nothing negative here, thanks! Hope this review helps
