AUCTION SCAM (buyers & sellers)

We have been bidding for one of the properties in March 2023. Our system showed us as being the highest bidder until the end and we haven’t been informed (received an email at least) in the 2 min time to the end that we have been outbid.

They couldn't even give us a good explanation to what happened.

They gave the property to someone else who bid same amount as us, 2 min before the end and they haven't updated their system, which was enough time.

Their system failed a day before the auction as we had to make a bank transfer payment for holding deposit, it couldn't be done online as the website didn't work properly.

Not only they have failed in their duties to us as purchases, but they have also failed in their duties to obtain the best price for the seller.

We will not recommend Allsop or be part of the auction again, this experience is the worst we had and we do participate in many auctions and deal with other auction houses.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience, would give zero star if possible.
Took over the property we had lived in for six years then immediately upped the rent by £300 which was non negotiable, tried to call to discuss but no one answers the phones .
We were given 4 weeks to move out 2 months before Christmas , then they withheld all of my £800 deposit saying anything from lightbulbs needed replacing and carpets needed cleaning. This was all done before we left !
If you read every review they all say the same , stay clear of this letting agent unless you are so desperate you have no other choice .

Withheld deposit

After being a good tenant for over 6 years it took them over 3 weeks to pay back my deposit, something for which a landlord can take only a maximum of 10 days. Very poor management, lack of customer service or any respect for people's financial circumstances.

Money grabbing and irresponsible

Absolutely horrific what this company is doing to residents. I am a tenant and they have tried to increase my rent by £300 - they refuse to help, refuse to negotiate, refuse to offer any kind of empathy. There are disabled people being made homeless, single mothers and kids being made homeless, elderly being made homeless, they do not care. Money grabbing and greedy in a climate where this is deemed acceptable because of a corrupt Tory government. The landlord themselves are based in jersey so are clearly dodging taxes already as well. They also set up their business on the exact same name on two occasions from the same address - not dodgy at all is it?? I hope councillors look into this landlord’s dealings because there is 100% something going on, and then I hope allsop lose their biggest landlord and have to close as a result. Imagine not even trying to help people from becoming homeless. If you are a corporate landlord who buys thousands of houses to rent to people at a profit there should be a responsibility to those people - especially vulnerable tenants. Allsop should be ASHAMED.

Article about it in The Echo and national newspaper The Daily Mail.

Ignoring me for a week

I do not recommend Allsop agency, very unprofessional. Tried to rent an apartment and they were ghosting me for over a week. It's good they started ignoring to me just before paying the holding deposit, because I'd be scared to pay them any amount of money now. Stay away from them, they look like scammers.

If I can give this company 0 I would

If I can give this company 0 I would. Property i live in has been managed by 2 previous Property management and no issue. This horrible management decided to increase my rent by £350 with no room for negotiation and had to accept because we all know how difficult it is to find house this days. First maintenance issues asked to do in the house was epic failure. The wooden floor at the house moving and needed fixing, wasn't save for kids which took me nearly 2 months for them to send a contractor down after numerous calls and treats to withheld my rent. The incompetent contractor they sent in decided to remove my whole floor with no aim to fit another one anytime soon. They also removed my downstairs toilet so you can imagine how smelly, dusty and freezing the house would be. They finally got a date for contractor to fit the new floor who then proposed a whole week. I tried to get them to pay for a place for us to stay for the week and this was rejected. Unfair my 2 and 5 Yr had to go through that. Asked to speak to their manager and each time I call, the managers are in a meeting. I CAN NOT WAIT TO BE OUT OF THIS RIDICULOUS CONTRACT.

Placed into the auction 2 properties…

Placed into the auction 2 properties paid the fees. Not one bid! Was recommended by them to re-enter and pay the fees again and place at a lower reserve. Of course ill keep paying and reducing until its half price!! Ridiculous people. No one hears about these auctions. I am in property, they deal with me. Have i had 1 marketing email. Not a chance. Awful waste of time and money!

Online bidding Allows "Shill Bidding" Fraud

They have moved all bidding online. This allows them to make fraudulent bids on the properties they are selling, because you have to tell Allsop in advance which property/ies you intend to bid for.

So they know in advance if only one person is planning to bid for a property and they can add their own employee as an online bidder in order to force up the bids of the single bidder. This is called "Shill Bidding."

The beauty of online bidding also allows Allsop to cancel bids online with no explanation, so if their employee accidentally wins the property, they can cancel his bid and allow the second highest bidder to win the auction.

Total cowboys

Total cowboys. Just received a mail the night before an auction saying guide price is up by 50%. Spent 2 days of time over the last few weeks reviewing costs, potential etc of a rennovation. Just set the guide price correctly in the first place.

Wish I had read reviews on Allsop beforehand as they are pretty damning.

Leave them alone...

Avoid this company

Poor company. They do not deal with ongoing issues at properties for auction well. They specialise at telling you what you want to hear and doing the opposite. When you escalate issues they get found out and pass the buck onto others. Best to avoid.

avoid them - NO BREAK CLAUSE AND RUDE AGENTS

Our property manager (C.) was extremely rude, felt entitled all throughout our tenancy since she joined the company and was trying to over charge us with the expenses. On our check out, she expected us to pay £60 for garden cleaning which was already a mess when we moved in and was recorded on the check in documents + she over charged us claiming there was a bleach stain on the carpet (it’s just some white dry paint fell from the walls easily coming off with some hoovering)
How not to mention that there’s no break clause in the contract? We had lived in the flat for nearly 3 years and when we decided to move, we had to pay for another 4 months because you honestly don’t have a choice when you have to sign a contract every year. Rude people and dodgy services. Avoid them.
