Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 62 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently struggled with unresponsive customer service teams, experiencing frustratingly long phone wait times, completely ignored emails, and entirely unhelpful communication regarding their urgent claims. Many people also reported unexpected policy claim denials, difficult bureaucratic hurdles, and severe, unacceptable delays in finally receiving their financial payouts. Some reviewers were happy with the assistance provided, specifically noting prompt, professional, and highly efficient support during unexpected vehicle breakdowns or travel issues. A few consumers were also delighted when their policy claims were handled successfully and fully reimbursed without encountering unnecessary pushbacks.

Disgraceful way I have been treated

Disgraceful way I have been treated. I had to rush back home from Canada to thankfully see my father before he died in hospital. I had 2 non refundable hotels booked in Iceland for the princely sum of £300. They are claiming I knew he was dying (which is true) although little did I know he would pass so quick from bowel cancer. I did manage to postpone the 3 day trip with the travel company in Iceland (£1900) which I obviously haven’t claimed for. Absolute scumbags in my period of grieving. NatWest should be ashamed of having their name associated with this disreputable company.

Absolutely disgusted!!

Absolutely disgusted!!
Booked tickets for a concert however have had to change plans as a result of me being diagnosed with cancer and having to go through chemotherapy for 3 months.

My wife requested a refund as per the insurance we took out and was declined saying that my cancer is classed as a pre existing condition as a result of my first cancer diagnosis in 2022.

WTF????
Are these people for real?
I am absolutely flabbergasted and would NEVER use this company again and urge anyone to NOT take out their cover!!
Disgraceful!!!

SCAM! "Manager Mark Ronald"

SCAM!
I bought missed event insurance from Allianz through ticketmaster. Allianz never respond to any emails to claim, they are a scam and Ticketmaster don't help! Save your money and don't use Allianz!
Update: I left a review on their Facebook page and a man called "MANAGER MARK RONALD" tried to ask me for personal information on a facebook message. Don't give these scammers your personal details, this is a fake profile

Go elsewhere for your travel insurance

When booking a trip to Paris on the Eurostar, I took out travel insurance with their insurance partner, Allianz Assistance. Unfortunately, when I turned up at St Pancras on 7th March 2025, all Eurostar services to Paris were cancelled due to the discovery of a suspected WWII bomb near the Gare du Nord station. Eurostar gave me an immediate full refund. Allianz Assistance, however, refused my claim for reasonable trip cancellation costs citing an 'act of war' exclusion in their policy. They didn't even offer to reimburse my insurance premium despite the fact that the abrupt trip cancellation seemingly placed them under no risk whatsoever. I would recommend that you go elsewhere for your travel insurance.

not satisfied with the claims department

When I had my accident, the immediate response team was pretty good and followed up. What I didn't like then was that they mostly would just talk to you on the phone and I didn't have much in writing which could bite you back when they 'allow' you to do something but later might still charge you for it. The claims department -apart from my initial contact lady - was terrible. Slow moving, holding things up, not accepting that Ryanair had wrongly emailed me but they wouldn't even accept my bank statement nor the screenshots from my app instead. Anyway, overall not all that great sadly. And I wasn't even claiming much money...

Disappointing Experience – Insurance Refused to Cover, Ticketmaster and Event Organizers to Blame

I purchased tickets through Ticketmaster with insurance, fully expecting to be covered in case of any issues. However, despite having insurance, my claim was rejected when I was unable to attend the event. The reason I couldn’t attend was not due to event cancellation, but because the event organizers (along with Allianz and Ticketmaster) decided to overbook and subsequently refused to let more people in.

It’s extremely frustrating and disappointing that I’m being caught in a blame game between Allianz, Ticketmaster, and the Mayor of London, none of whom have taken responsibility for the situation. The insurance I paid for turned out to be useless, and I was left without any recourse or support.

This entire experience has been a total disgrace. The lack of accountability and transparency from all parties involved is appalling. I would highly recommend caution when booking through these companies, especially if you're relying on insurance for peace of mind. I will definitely be thinking twice before using their services again.

You won't get your money back

We booked tickets to see a concert. We took out insurance to cover if something occurred to prevent us from attending. We have a genuine claim. When we contact them to make a claim they will not even take any details - they automatically told us to contact the ticket agent TICKET MASTER. When you contact the TICKET MASTER. They too will not help and tell you contact the ALLIANZ ASSISTANCE. I can see no refund coming.

Allianz Assistance - Travel Insurance

This review is for Allianz Assistance - Travel Insurance.
All I want is a certificate of my travel insurance so that I can apply for a tourist visa. Several emails and calls later, nobody is reachable at the insurance company....
Their automatic reply when calling: We are closed today due to a public holiday.
--> There is NO public holiday in Bavaria on 24/01. Unless they are still on their Christmas holidays?!

Honestly, stay away from this company and hopefully I will NOT need to make any claims during my travels...

Poor customer service during the claims…

Poor customer service during the claims process, difficulties reaching representatives, long wait times, confusing communication, and challenges getting claims approved, complicated and unclear coverage, basically they don't cover anything.

Allianz Travel Insurance = Worthless

Your travel insurance (which is obviously supplied to banks for their package bank accounts) at very low rates, is not worth the paper it is written on. As others have commented, thank goodness when I made a claim last week It wasn't for an emergency or illness. You are the breed of insurance company that does everything it can to not pay a penny unless you are absolutely forced to

Agree with everyone else on here

Agree with everyone else on here. Took out their home emergency cover - it's simply not fit for purpose. They send people round, but they aren't allowed to touch/move anything, which is pretty pointless when you have a major water leak from pipes coming out of the boiler that go behind kitchen units! Every time I suggested anything, there was a block put in the way or a reason why they couldn't actually do anything. Complete con. I will wait the min 8 weeks before taking this to the Financial Ombudsman. (As it sounds like I won't get a reply from them) How can such a relatively well known brand be allowed to operate like this?

I join nearly all the other reviewers…

I join nearly all the other reviewers in awarding the minimum possible rating to this company. They seem to have the objective of making the task of submitting a totally legitimate claim as difficult as possible, insisting on hard-to-obtain documents, when valid unambiguous alternatives have already been supplied to them. I will be making a formal complaint to them. AVOID.

Appalling claims service

Appalling claims service - extremely slow, never acknowledge emails and customer service next to non existent! By looking at the number of bad reviews doesn’t look like they can do much about it!!

Never ever buy insurance from this company

We decided to book a cruise with hays travel around the British isles they recommend Allianz insurance to us and in particular there gold cover because my partner only has one lung after having lung cancer many year ago.we took out the cover with allianz hoping never to make a claim unfortunately five days into our trip we both had covid and we’re very unwell.
At this point the ship was docked in Greenock Scotland and then going onto the Orkney isles then France.
We saw the medical staff on board and told them of our situation and said it was dangerous to carry on further because Kath having only one lung .
We only saw the nurse no doctor was available to see us at the time therefore we decided to disembark the ship and make our way home.
We contacted Allianz claims department and filled the necessary forms for the curtailment of our trip.
Two months later they phoned us to say they were not paying out because we left the ship of our own accord.
We told them it was dangerous to carry on because of kath only having one lung and in danger of being seriously I’ll we complained but it made no difference they were heartless and dismissive of our circumstances we advise anyone never use this company from reading all the bad reviews I have wrote a letter to the ombudsman over this company and the way they treat clients .
