Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 55 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Travelers frequently complained about extremely poor customer service, excessively long phone hold times, and completely unhelpful staff members who offered no real solutions. Passengers also faced frustrating, unpredictable flight delays and unexpected, costly extra charges for necessary carry-on bags and prior seat selections. The minority of people were satisfied with friendly staff members who provided genuinely kind and helpful assistance throughout their travel journey. Some customers also deeply appreciated occasional complimentary seating upgrades, pleasant inflight encounters, or remarkably smooth experiences with specific employees at the terminal.

⭐☆☆☆☆ bad customer relations

⭐☆☆☆☆

Our experience with Allegiant was extremely disappointing. We arrived for Flight 353 at Dulles International Airport expecting to depart at 11:15. We boarded the aircraft, only to be removed after being told there was an issue and that another plane was being sought.

We spent the entire day at the airport with no clear timeline for when we would actually leave. After hours of waiting and uncertainty, the flight was ultimately cancelled.

The biggest frustration was not just the cancellation, but the lack of timely communication and the amount of time passengers were left waiting without a clear plan. Travelers deserve better updates and better support when major disruptions happen.

This was a very stressful and exhausting experience, and I hope Allegiant improves how it handles situations like this.

One of the worst airlines I’ve flown.

One of the worst airlines I’ve flown.

I chose this airline twice because it offers a direct flight from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Orlando, Florida. Unfortunately, both times my flight was delayed by 4–6 hours, which completely disrupted my travel plans.

I also don’t understand why this route only operates one flight per day and only two days a week. With such limited service, you would expect the flights to be more reliable.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend this airline unless you have plenty of extra time and don’t mind significant delays.

I was extremely disappointed with my…

I was extremely disappointed with my experience flying Allegiant out of Elmira, New York. From the moment we arrived at the gate until we were seated on the plane, the customer service was unnecessarily rude and confrontational.
I paid approximately $500 per ticket, paid for carry-on bags, and paid extra for exit-row seats with additional legroom. For what we spent, I expected to be treated with courtesy and respect.
When exit-row passengers were called to board, I approached the gate to scan my boarding pass. Before I could board, an employee loudly announced that my carry-on bag was too large. The only issue was that I hadn’t zipped the expansion section of the suitcase. Once I zipped it closed, it fit perfectly in the carry-on sizer and met the required dimensions.
Rather than handling the situation politely, I was pulled out of the boarding line, instructed to size my bag, and then told that my crossbody bag had to be placed inside my purse. I completely understand and respect Allegiant’s baggage policies, and I had no issue complying. What I found unacceptable was the way it was communicated. The employee was abrupt, rude, and spoke to me in a way that felt unnecessarily demeaning.
After complying with every instruction, I was then told I had to go to the back of the boarding line, even though I had already been at the front and was only delayed because the employee pulled me aside. By that point, there were dozens of people ahead of me, causing an unnecessary delay and inconvenience.
Unfortunately, the experience didn’t improve once I boarded. After I was seated in my assigned exit-row seat, another employee approached me in front of the other passengers and asked if my name was Danielle. When I answered no, she immediately responded, “Well, it appears you’re in the wrong seat.” The assumption and wording were accusatory rather than simply asking to verify my seat assignment. As it turned out, I was in the correct seat all along.
At no point did I refuse to follow any policy. I complied with every request. My frustration is not with Allegiant’s rules—it’s with the consistently rude, accusatory, and negative attitude displayed by multiple employees throughout the boarding process.
Customer service matters. Passengers who have paid hundreds of dollars for their tickets deserve to be treated with professionalism and respect. I hope Allegiant reviews the conduct of the staff working the Elmira departure, as this experience fell far below what any customer should expect.

TERRIBLE DISRESPECT

Flight # 3771 was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my life. We had a big group and we were trying to get all of our seats situated and my daughter was in the wrong seat. I did not get her name but the female minority attendant was the most disrespectful and unprofessional person I’ve ever come in contact with. The Latino gentleman and the middle aged Caucasian woman were amazing. The woman I’m speaking about will be easy to point out by them as the Latino gentleman did not charge other members of our group because of how disrespectful your employee was. She was loud and invasive, she reached out as if she was to grab my daughters arm, she was not asked to help but stepped in and escalated a situation to the point where everyone in our group was extremely upset including my 5 year old daughter. I don’t know who this woman was or why she has a job working with people but she is horrible. She looked to be in her 50s and like I said, the crew with her will know exactly who she was. This woman should be fired and should be banned from your airline. A simple mistake was turned into a major issue and something my daughter should never have to experience again. SHE ALMOST FORCED MY 5 YEAR OLD TO SIT WITH A STRANGER! To the middle aged Caucasian woman that came back later, thank you. To the Latino man that gave my friends their free drinks, thank you. To the woman who caused all of this, I hope you never work with people again.

Worst flying experience of my entire…

Worst flying experience of my entire life. 5pm flight ended up being delayed EIGHT hours with the worst and laziest communication I’ve ever seen from an airline. They kept telling us they were just “inspecting” the plane and that we were about to board for HOURS, only to have other flights keep being boarded in front of us on the same gangway, causing absolute chaos. Then demanding that everyone get out of the way. Then to later find out the plane they were trying to fly us on had gotten STRUCK BY LIGHTNING while inbound and the AC electrical was fried and they were trying to replace it and considering still flying us on it. We eventually got changed to the last inbound plane at midnight, but didn’t board until 12:40am and sat on the tarmac or almost an hour waiting for a new pilot, and didn’t land in our destination until 4am when it was originally supposed to be 6:45pm. Not to mention, we were never once offered a refund so they were giving us zero choice except to just not show up and lose our money. They only gave us free water bottles and sodas at 1am… it’s actually comical. And there were no flights to our destination except 2 days a week so we had zero options to change the flight. And if you tried to call customer service (which the gate agents told us to do rather than help us), it was an over 2 hour hold time. We had young children with us, and were left stranded without options for 8 hours in the middle of the night. Not to mention this airport is way understaffed and terrible customer service. I understand it’s a budget airline, but I genuinely don’t understand how it’s still operating.. absolute insanity. NEVER using Allegiant again.

They suck

They suck. Flight was delayed for nearly 24 hours, with zero compensation. Can’t get a hold of anyone who knows anything. I will never fly with them again. If you chose to, expect hours and hours of delays both ways.

My experience with Allegiant was…

My experience with Allegiant was extremely disappointing. I arrived early and waited in line well before my flight, only to be told at the last minute that boarding had already ended. The staff provided very little assistance and seemed unwilling to help find a solution. I was left scrambling and ended up having to spend hundreds of dollars on another flight because of the situation. To make matters worse, I was given confusing information regarding my refund and only received a partial refund when I was led to believe I would receive more. The customer service and overall communication throughout this experience were frustrating and stressful. I expected much better treatment and support as a customer.

Don't book with them!

Our experience with Allegiant was absolutely terrible due to the lack of communication, customer service, and transparency.

A group of us were traveling from Dallas back to Pittsburgh on what was supposed to be an 8:00 AM flight. The flight was initially delayed by 30 minutes, but throughout the day we were repeatedly given small delay updates and strung along for 16 hours before finally departing. Had we been given honest information from the beginning, many of us could have made alternative travel arrangements.

What made the situation even more frustrating was the conflicting information we received. The gate agents blamed weather, while representatives on the phone cited staffing issues. No one seemed to know what was actually happening, and the inconsistent explanations made it feel as though passengers were being misled rather than informed.

After spending approximately eight hours in the airport, Allegiant provided food vouchers. However, the restaurant we selected did not accept them, despite a desk agent assuring us they could be used anywhere. By that point we were exhausted, hungry, and had already eaten, leaving us no choice but to pay out of pocket.

We understand that delays happen and that circumstances can arise that are beyond an airline's control. However, clear communication, accurate information, and a reasonable plan for affected passengers go a long way. Instead, we were met with confusion, conflicting stories, and very little meaningful assistance.

Spending nearly a full day stranded in an airport with no clear answers is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Allegiant to anyone. The delay itself was frustrating, but the lack of honesty, accountability, and customer care made the situation far worse.

This airline is super sketchy

This airline is super sketchy. Oversold carry ons and then insisted people check their carryons, without any refund. Carryons cost more than checked. When no one volunteered, the gate agent threatened they would not board the flight until people “volunteered” to forfeit the carryon, and the money we paid for it.

We paid for the bundle to get assigned seats. We had those seats when we checked in online for boarding. The allegiant staff did not ask us to move seats. They made us. When I told them we paid for certain seats the flight attendant rudely said "enough is enough" and made us move. They are refusing to refund me the amount we paid for the bundle to get assigned seats.

What a terrible airline

What a terrible airline. Waiting 3 hours now for a form of paperwork from maintenance. Airplane is dirty. Staff is rude. DASANI WATER. If you are looking to fly cheap look elsewhere. Prior to this ordeal, I had my seat “moved” yet they never reassigned me a seat, after waiting on hold with customer service for 3 hours to get an actual seat (that mind you I already paid for) I spoke with them for 30 seconds to get placed on hold for 30 more minutes, to then finally having my seat given back to me. 70 dollars for a carry on bag! Dont think about putting your carry on in the overhead storage unless you paid for it! You would think they are running a military organization in charge of enforcing overhead storage with the way these nasty flight attendants speak.

Disgusting

Real simple - close friend, with her family - two daughters and mother - were flying home from Florida. Before she boarded her flight she inadvertantly bit her tongue causing her to bleed.

Allegient refused to allow her to boared and refused to give her, and her family, a refund of her return fares because she didn't have a damn medical report?? They could see what the problem was but completely disregarded the obvious in favor (apparently) of their self serving greedy policies. I reiterate - THEY refuse to allow her to board for her flight. It was thieur selfish apathetic decision, not my friends.

Because of allegeints apathetic attitude she had to book her eturn flight with Jet Blue who treated her and her family with respect and courtesy UNLIKE the other mob.

I would never fly with this mob ever and would never recommend them to anyone if they want reliable courtious and respectful service.

Good Airline

The Flight was good the Staff on the plane was nice, I would say this airline is a gas station airline. The reason I say that is they have things that you would find at the gas station. Like nerds, kit kits etc.. the only negatives I have is their is in IFE but that is expected with budget airlines and the tray table is smaller then my phone. But it is a great airline.

Only because I cant leave a zero

Only because I cant leave a zero. They canceled my return flight 3 hours before my flight. Fun facts: if there is only 1 flight such as the one I had in destin. You're screwed. 2, dont book your rental car through them along with your flight. When I received the cancel text, I tried to call customer service, only to be told its an approximate 2hr wait time to talk to someone. I tried to change my rental car return through the app, but the app wont let me change anything because my car and flight were booked together so I had to talk to someone in customer service. So I called alamo, just to talk to someone in India or wherever, to be told he cant change me car details and I had to call allegiant customer service. So I call allegiant again, yep...2 hr wait time. End result, I drove back to alomo, returned car and had to purchase a 1 way destination back home. $278 and a 12hr drive later. I made it home. I have 1 more flight scheduled with them. After that, never again. Customer service is flat out nonexistent
