Assault at Aldi Nord Flensburg
Last Saturday, my husband and I stopped by an Aldi in Flensburg to grab a bag of potato chips. We got what we needed and headed to the cashier to pay. It was just a quick stop, nothing out of the ordinary. But as soon as we paid and were about to leave, things took a bizarre turn.
Out of nowhere, a security guard approached us and told us to stand by the wall. No explanation, no clarification—just a harsh order. We were completely confused but did as he said, not wanting to make a scene. The guard didn’t say what we had supposedly done wrong, only that we needed to stay put. It was a pretty tense moment, and I felt humiliated standing there without any idea why.
He then called over a female employee to search my bag. She went through everything and, of course, found nothing wrong. We had simply bought a bag of chips, and everything was in order. The whole time, the security guard stood there, watching, without offering a single word of explanation or apology.
Even after it was clear that we had done nothing wrong, the guard was rude and dismissive. He didn’t apologize or acknowledge the mistake. Instead, he insisted that we leave, almost implying that we were still at fault for something that never happened.
To make things even worse, the manager of the store is not willing to communicate in English, even after knowing about this assault. This is first hand discrimination.
I can’t shake off the feeling of being singled out for no apparent reason, and it left me feeling both frustrated and upset. I’ve shopped at Aldi many times before without any problems, but this incident really made me question the way they treat customers.
