50 min delay, completely the wrong sort of car! …

Re 132RZX No car was available for about 50 minutes - at Mérignac airport! Eventually forced to take a 4x4 hybrid automatic - I'd booked a small, manual, petrol - and it was, by then, really pouring with rain. So, in an big, unfamiliar car, on the "circulaire" around Bordeaux at 5pm, in terrible weather... a truly rotten experience.
And 2 months' later I have still not received the €30 compensation they promised.

windhsield crack without evidence.

We rented a car from this company and returned it during opening hours as agreed. After the return, we received an email with photos claiming there was a crack in the windshield. During our rental period, we did not notice any damage or crack at all.
The rental company is now demanding a damage payment, but they are unable to provide any proof that the crack was not already present before our rental started. There is no evidence showing the condition of the windshield prior to our rental.
Despite the lack of proof, they are insisting that we are responsible for the damage. We find it unreasonable to be charged for damage without clear evidence that it occurred during our rental period.
This experience has been very disappointing and has left us feeling unfairly treated.

What a Racket- Beware

I prepaid with my Visa card on November 7 and even paid my visa in advance. So the reservation was paid. I went to get my rental agreement at the counter and was told I had to have the Visa with me. Unfortunately, I left it at home, and I was told they would not honor the reservation and could not cancel it either, that I'd get a refund in a few days or to contact customer service. I had to book a separate reservation because they couldn't use a different credit card for that reservation. I booked it and after that time I spent weeks trying to get the refund through customer service. This gave a partial refund but refused to give me a full refund. This company is a scam. The people who worked at the BWI airport counter rental were rude, and the fact that they can't cancel and make another reservation at the same time is ridiculous. It's not as though I had no credit card at all to pay, plus it was already paid for. What a scam. I wish I'd seen all the bad reviews before booking with them. Expensive little lesson. Do not book with Alamo. If there is any little hiccup they will not help you with the problem. And they will make you call countless times before telling you, "Oh, I'm sorry, but we will not give you your money back."

DO NOT RENT - FIND ANOTHER!!!

I rented a car from them... when I got there, they demanded I have utility bills (which was impossible as I am not from Spain) - they used that as an excuse to keep the booking going but refuse the car. This was not stated on the "What you need to bring voucher" A total shambles. Just a side note also. It was not even the car that I ordered, what they brought for me to rent also had I had of been able to collect it. Just rude, misleading and sales driven. Find an alternative. - This booking was made originally through booking.com

Absolute biggest scammers that I have…

Absolute biggest scammers that I have ever encountered in my life. They had 3 damages that was made by the previous ownswe that they tried to put on my only because I did not take the premium insurance but only took the basic one. I had pictures of the two damages which clearly proved that it was not done by me and insisted that just as well as the two other damages they were trying to put on me was proven to be not be by me then so was the third one. They tried to gaslight me by saying that they removed the other two only because they could conclude that it was a wear and tear, when it was because I clearly had pictures proving them wrong. Then they ended up charging triple for the price for a scratch in the back off the mirror which was the third damage and took the money out of my account while I was still having a case open with their customer service. Stay away from this company. They absolutely do not care about anything else besides ripping you off. If zero stars was an option then I would give them that.

Alamo Rent a Car committed fraud

Alamo Rent a Car committed fraud and they are not responding to our support calls/emails.

I booked a rent car with Alamo for a mini van for 5 days. The min van broke down the 2nd day of the 5 day rental and they gave us a small SUV instead. They never gave us a refund for getting the small car that didn't fit our family. Not to mention that I had to pay for us to get an Uber back to the rental agency and that we had to wait 1.5 hours to get a replacement car. I was on my way to visit my sick dad in the hospital, but couldn't make it. They told me that we would get a refund, but it was never sent. They also charged us an additional $200 for another car that we didn't rent. No one has responded after multiple emails. AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Great service! fast and hassle free! We rented a car in Honolulu and read the mixed reviews. This location was awesome! Skip the line, right to the car of our choice and off we went! Kudos to the HNL Location!

Most awful rental company I’ve ever tried

Don’t do this mistake and rent from them!!!!

The car I got had a serious software issue (not because of me), because of them awful customer service and giving me a bad car, I needed to wait almost for 2 hours until they fixed it. Therefore, I missed my flight and needed to pay 1,000 euros - now they don’t pay me back!!

This is what they write: “In our General Rental Conditions, it is also stated that Enterprise is not liable for indirect or consequential losses—such as missed flights, hotel nights, or other travel expenses—resulting from unforeseen incidents like mechanical breakdowns”.

Completely unacceptable. Worst company ever!!!!

Worst company ever, no service

Worst company ever. We Booked with insurance and safety. After an incident. The towtruck never came. It was promised 3 times in a 4 hour timeframe. No tow truck, no service from them. After this time we asked if we could leave the car because it was not allowed to stay there anymore by the Police. It was at the docks.

They said yes and we got it recorded, at the service they said we didnt get another car. No car, no sleeping spot, nothing. Worst carservice ever. No uber. They didnt give another car even after the video's we showed that they promised it themselve.

Do not trust them, Do not hire a car, its not worth it!!!

Avoid due to hidden costs! Advisor told me insurance was €35 euros and when asked if that’s total or per day was told total. As only hired for 2 days. Upon receiving the invoice on drop it was €75 euros and they charge €40 for you to return the car! Agreed booking price online was €108 and was charged €235. Avoid

Exceptional Late-Night Servic

Even though we arrived well past midnight—exhausted and worried our rental might be an issue—our rental agent,Sebastian, was an absolute lifesaver! Despite the ungodly hour, he greeted us with a warm smile, genuine patience, and offered us water with remarkable professionalism.

He walked us through the entire rental agreement clearly and efficiently, answered all our questions without a hint of frustration, and even took the time to point out key features of the vehicle to ensure we felt comfortable driving off into the night. His attention to detail and courteous demeanor turned what could have been a stressful late-night experience into a smooth and reassuring one.

PROTECT YOURSELF

Always record a full video walk-around before leaving with your rental. I pointed out damage on my vehicle to the Enterprise/Alamo employee at pickup, but they didn’t mark it down in their system. When I returned the car, they tried to hold me responsible for the exact same damage I had shown them earlier.

Thankfully, I had a time-stamped video that proved the damage was already there. Without that, I would’ve been charged for something I didn’t do.

This experience was extremely frustrating, and it shows the company needs a more reliable and transparent check-in/check-out process—one that protects the customer, not just the branch. Renters shouldn’t have to rely on their own evidence to avoid false claims.

It felt like the burden of proof was on me instead of on their inspection system.

If you rent from here, document everything. It can save you from a headache.

Deposit not returned 4 weeks after the car was returned with no explanation provided.

I rented a car at Prague Airport a month ago from Alamo. On the rental agreement, I was advised that the deposit will be refunded within maximum 2 weeks of returning the car.

Although I returned the car with no issues (as confirmed in the document issued by Alamo on the day the car was returned) I am yet to receive the deposit.

I have emailed Alamo with no response provided. I have also had to call them internationally in the Czech Republic. Twice I was told it was being sorted out, but the money has still not been refunded nor have I been offered an explanation for the delay.

Scammers

We were extremely disappointed with our experience at Alamo/Locauto at the Florence Airport. Despite having already booked the maximum insurance coverage via Rentalcars, the staff deliberately pressured and confused us into purchasing an additional insurance on the spot — which cost over €300.
Only after insisting and double-checking did we realise we were already fully covered. At that point, the employees suddenly claimed that issuing a refund to our credit card would be “very difficult”, even though we had paid just seconds earlier.
The entire situation felt manipulative and dishonest. We left feeling misled and taken advantage of.
Never again. We are now considering a formal complaint, as this behaviour amounts to fraud.

Stay away take another company!!

I’ve rented cars all over the world and never had any issues — until this experience with Alamo in Zürich. Before I even drove off the rental lot, I took a video of the car to document its condition (of course they didn't except it as proof since they didn't like the quality of the video).

I’m confident I didn’t cause any damage. Still, they claimed there were small damages that are nearly impossible to detect — probably not even visible in a photo unless taken under perfect lighting, which is not the case at the rental location.

What’s worse, my rental contract included a damage liability limit of 1,500 CHF. However, Alamo claimed the car had multiple damages, allowing them to charge beyond that limit (I had to pay 1,900 CHF, for the damages you can see at the pictures). It feels like they’re exploiting a technicality.

I strongly recommend renting from another company. This experience was frustrating and disappointing.

We booked our car with Alamo one week…

We booked our car with Alamo one week in advance and paid for it in full. But when we arrived exactly on time to pick up the car, they told us we had to wait anywhere from 1 to 5 hours!
This is completely unacceptable. If a reservation is confirmed and paid for, the car should be ready on time — not after hours of waiting.
Very disappointing experience. I do not recommend Alamo at all!!!!

Booked a car via Sunny at Alamo in Alicanta. As soon as we landed we picked up the car... O no we didn't. No car, probably overbooked, no decent explanation, no help. Thats in short what Alamo is.

Try to avoid it alike sneezing people in winter.

Zero customer service, they dont answer you nowhere. Only promises.
The car broke down in the middle of nowhere. They literally left us there, there was no signal no hostels no taxys… and they just dont care. After that we somehow got to our next hotel by our own costs(extra 200€ just to get to next alamo). I called them 400times and no solutsion came from it. Ofcourse after that i told them what i think about their company, and their answer to this was to send me an 1500€ for “broken windshield”. I asked them to send me proof of broken windshield and they didnt send it to me. Now they dont answer me anywhere and just holding onto my deposit. SCAMMERS SCAMMERS SCAMMERS

I have never rented a car before and I can say we had the best experience with Alamo! I read loads of reviews before booking about all different car rentals and I was very nervous before booking but I can honestly say we had the perfect experience with Alamo. The pick up was very fast and so was the drop off. No extra fees or any complications. We will definitely book again.
