The communication was great and the information given was easy to understand
Over the years I've been unfortunate to have both an investment portfolio and a pension with Aegon. Investments were made via a financial adviser and my pension via a work scheme so didn't really have much to say when these were set up.
On the plus side things ticked along OK as money was flowing in. A bit of a faff to change the simplest of details, e.g. an email address, but that was managable.
After taking control of my own investments however it became a real bind to make any changes. To sell / buy investments took weeks of paperwork, forms and illustrations before the change was made. Something that you can literally do with a few clicks, and in a matter of minutes on any other paltform. Needless to say I eventually grew tired of this and moved my money elsewhere.
On the pension side of things again alll was well and I was actually able to pick my own funds and move things about to a certain degree via the website. Then came the "improvements" in security which meant your account was safe, very safe, as even with the account open in front of me I often failed the secuirty questions. I was beyond frustrated with this.
The App was an even bigger joke. When it worked it was fine for basic functions however there was a period when the only way to access it was to re-register every time you wanted to log in. That was the actual advice from Aegon !!!
Decided to transfer my pension to another provider. A requested was duly made via the receiving company only to be told by Aegon that they couldn't do this electronically !!!! They couldn't use the industry standard electronic process as the pension was already in draw down. So more forms for me to request and complete before Aegon could release my pension.
Forms requested to be sent via email which I was told could take up to 10 working days to be sent.... guess what, they did take 10 working days to send me an email, BUT they sent the wrong forms !!!
Another request to send me the forms, via email. Another 10 working days for these to arrive.
You get the picture.
The folks on the phone do try but how Aegon survives in the modern world is beyond me.
Emailed aegon on 11th March and received an automated reply to say they would respond within 7 working days. 9 working days later I still haven’t had a response.
Both representatives were helpful and polite understood my query. Talked through my options with me and went over points that I was not sure on. They were patient with me and understanding. They are an asset to the company.

After an initial email failed to remedy my problem, by speaking to an actual adviser , he was very helpful and persevered with the issue, and sorted it for me .

I was acting on behalf of my severely disabled friend after his brother (my partner) died, to gain a payout of my partner’s savings to his brother.
Not even an acknowledgment was received from them until around three months later, when they said they would look into my request. All documentation was provided to them, including a death certificate, etc.
Since then, without counting up my emails, which I still have, I would not like to guess how many times I have had to contact them to ask what was going on.
A year after my partner’s death, his brother died. I was then told they could not possibly make the payment to his estate. Of course, I made a formal complaint about their procrastination. They eventually asked for my friend’s death certificate, which I sent them several weeks ago. They have neither taken any action or returned the death certificate.
I wrote to them to ask why they had not returned the certificate, asked yet again what was going on, and made another complaint. This morning, one year and four months on from my partner’s death, they replied, saying they would look into my complaint! There was no mention of either the current status of their action, or of the death certificate.
These people are a disgrace, and I would heartily recommend avoiding them at all costs.

Awful company to deal with, everything is a massive effort! Requested to change the bank account my pension contributions came out of took 27 days! Rang 14 days ago to increase my pension contributions, still not been actioned! Rang again today to enquire about " cashing in " some of my pension to be told somebody will call me next Wednesday ( 6 days from now ) then it could take a further 15 days for the money to hit my account! Speed up Aegon the above 3 requests should not take the length of time they have!

My Aegon pension fund contributions record have disappearded since October 2025.
Several complaint not answered. I was told to go to the Ombudsmsn as they were unable to solve the issue.
The fund value showed as 290K on 16 March and ZERO on 19 March. They wiped it off.
