My nan, who is 95 years old throughly enjoyed and we couldn't fault the care and admiration every member of the team gave to hold an impactful afternoon to all involved. The experience provided for an afternoon was amazing!
The compassion and sense of humour, and love for eachother was shown throughout.
We can't wait for the next one, and can see the impact first hand that this has on everyone invited and involved in making this happen.

Amy visited my Dad Anthony Maurer on Sunday 15 Feb 2026- she went above and beyond for my dad and he felt really looked after and couldn’t thank her enough, she was realised one of my dads medication was missing following a discharge from hospital and she organised this asap.
Thank you Amy, my dad thinks your a diamond.

My father received care from May 2024 - January 2026.
Overall not a very good experience with Abbots Care St Albans. The positives being that my 95 year old father was always treated kindly and respectfully and there were a few carers who were very good. The negatives: lots and lots of different carers with varying degrees of skills and experience, many instances of tasks not being completed properly or not at all e.g. not cleaning the toilet and commode, forgetting to change the bed, leaving obstacles in the way of the toilet, leaving shower area wet, forgetting to put my fathers alarm back on after showering/dressing not putting soiled incontinence pads in the bin, not following clear instructions e.g. switching off my fathers night light when told not to, leaving food or drinks out of reach so my father could not get to them, taking out the wrong meals to defrost and lack of basic culinary skills. In addition the administration support and organising of medication leave a lot to be desired. My sister and I had to make umpteen phone calls and send lots of emails to complain about issues and did not always receive responses. The experience was exhausting and frustrating for us. We felt we did more of the actual work ourselves than the carers. All this and rated outstanding by the CQC - something not quite right here? At the end of the day all this points to the ineffectiveness of senior management as the buck stops with them. Camille Leavoid the MD needs to take action to sort out the many weaknesses. The CQC also need to be notified so that the next inspection can focus on all the issues raised by the families of their loved ones as they deserve better.
Once again just to reiterate there were some very lovely
good carers and no one was abusive to my father.

It might be the worse company, please protect your loved ones , dont let Abbots near them . Carers lire about time, saying they stayed 30 minutes, but only stayed 10 minutes, lazy only doing minimum. Management even worse , no one speaks any English. Some of the cares are more interested in the Landlord why he is not in , than doing their work looking after my daughter. Why is her Landlord need it to make her cup of tea ? No comment!

Absolute shambles. Shame on Herts County Council in allocating these muppets. 'Carers' struggle to speak English, steal food, verbally abused a 90 year old Dementia client. Sent men, when female only were requested. Most days they turned up hours late. We had 2 months of absolute hell with this company. They treat their staff so bad, most told me they sleep in their cars inbetween shifts as they are so tired! Abotts have such a bad reputation not only with clients, with professional bodies too. If only I had known this before I even agreed for HCC to use them. If you care about your loved one, AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They should be closed down!!! Complaints went as far as MPs and top of Herts CC before we could be free of the nightmare this company put us through. They deserve 0 STARS!
PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO CONTACT YOU TO LOOK INTO THIS, YOU ARE ALREADY BEING INVESTIGATED! Thank you.

Such a wonderful company. I’ve seen firsthand the time, care, and dedication that goes into everything behind the scenes, and it’s clear that everyone who works there truly cares about what they do. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

My honest review was REMOVED so this is a tamed down version!
Avoid avoid avoid. Awful administration and awful service.
Raw food not microwave. Missed medication. No talking at all during visit. Unreliable visits all over the place no continuity. No uniforms. New people weekly all from miles away 40 miles.

JUST DON'T USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR LOVED ONES!
An absolute shambles of a company. Shocking lack of care.
Here's a list of everything that went wrong over a 4 week period:
Arriving late, sometimes by over 2 hours.
Leaving early despite duties not completed.
Theft from client. Neglect.
Sending MEN to exceptionally vulnerable elderly clients despite the care plan stating NO MEN!
Failure to administer medication.
Refusing to leave when asked causing alarm, fear & distress.
Failure to provide food & drink.
Failure to provide personal care. Verbally abusive staff.
All reported to them & ACS. I will be filing a full report to CQC. DO NOT USE FOR YOUR LOVED ONES!!

All the staff I have met and who care for my sister are great .. my sister is in a wheelchair and needs a fair bit of assistance on a regular basis . She has a good laugh with them and really appreciates what they do for her

After writing bad review for Abbots Care I was told to email them for resolution, which I did, and it went unanswered. My mother is 78 years old and is totally immobile. Abbots Care was recommended by her social worker and everything was set up. She requested NO men and a single carer twice a fay at 9:30 AM (to get up) and9:30 PM, to be put to bed. I have just moved back to the UK to help with her care. In the 5 weeks I have been here she has been out through absolute turmoil. The Carers themselves a wonderful for the most part, BUT for 3 weeks they kept sending men, and 2 carers which was a total waste, as my mother would not allow them in the house. We called every day for weeks and weeks with a simple request. One female carer in the morning nd one in the evening. They were turning up a 6:00 PM to put her to bed, who goes to bed at 6? I hadn't even given her her dinner at that time. More calls, every day, and they kept sending men and at the wrong time, so we just sent them away telling them that were not authorized or wanted at that time, or it was a male and we sent them away also. Now she is receiving final notice letters, distressing her even more, trying to charge us for these many visits, at the wrong time or with a male carer. My mother is very sick and keeps getting the run around and these threatening letters are making it worse. Every person we speaks to tells us to speak to someone else, as its not their responsibility. Its absolutely outrageous that they can operate like this. I myself have called multiple times with very simple and very specific instructions. One Female Carer and 9:30 am and the same at 9:30 PM, then we have people waling into her home at 6PM, 6:30 PM, men walking in. They have finally got it down this week, but are trying to get her to pay for all the wrong appointments they made and its 17 pounds each. My number is 07340 738146 If someone with some sort of authority could please call me and sort this out.

Why would a company who is supposed to be caring when 'helping' those in great need of support continue to pick one client ( or perhaps not just one!) who has followed their rules and been supplied with a carer who did nothing to help her recover from a bad breakdown, no housework and coerced her to give her items in her house not be reimbursed £6346.28 wrongly taken and threatened with debt collectors be a target with absolutely no conciliatory help from them as their CEO has put her endorsement in writing!!! Does she have any idea what her staff are doing?
My mum had 3 x per day.carers when she first came out of hospital. The carers were usually very good and made a big difference, but of course it is hard having several people.each day and the times are not quite regular due to the nature of how the carers work.
So we asked about a Live In carer and had one in place the following day. Well done Abbotscare.
The first carer worked really hard and cleaned and organised everything really well. When i reported that the personalities didnt match well, Abbotscare managed the situation well and I was able to give positive feedback to the carer concerned.
The 2nd Carer has been like an angel. Mum has made loads of progress and is almost back to being independant in many ways.
We have also had 2 live in carers to cover when the main carer went on her regular week's leave. These 2 have also been great. It is noted that Abbotscare try really hard to send people that have been before, whenever there is leave to be covered, so that it is getting easier every time for mum to feel settled and adjust to the changes.
The one thing that would be good is to have a few contact names, job titles and email addresses on a piece of paper, in order to make contact about any specific things. Sometimes i ve been waiting to contact the manager and not realising that i could ask for the Team or another worker.
Also, a clear summary sent out with usual breaktime timings and leave arrangements for carers so that we are
more able to refer to it ... would help in both directions as I wouldnt have to ring or email so much.

Since my very first day at abbots care- I have felt nothing but welcomed and appreciated. It is such an excellent company to work for and seeing all the wonderful care and hard work that goes in by all members of the team from the CEO to the Coordinators to the Carers everyone has the same look and that is to make Clients have the best possible care they can.
Seeing how much abbots cares for it clients really does bring a sense of joy around the office- making a positive impact is so important and Abbots defiantly does that.
Great team, Great People, Great Carers.

“Dear manager, my name is…and I was selected to do the training and after to start work at Abbots Care.
From the first and second day of training that I’ve took part, I’ve noticed a total lack of flexibility ,being asked to be always on cam and told to ask permission to go to bathroom or get the charger or even a glass of water and the trainer was not all the time reading the chat to give us the permission straight away.I find a little to excessive ,considering that we were to do the assessments at the end of the training and pass them at 100%. I could agree to not get the job after the assessments but not disrespected and mistreated during a training period ,considering that the trainning was for a job that I’ve been doing for more than 8 years.
I've noticed a total lack of respect and professionalism of the stuff towards the new employers to be, people shouting at me and didn’t give me the chance to talk or interrupted me all the time. I was expelled from the training at the beginning of the second day because i was preparing my kid breakfast with my cam on.i also have been accused to hide something because i couldn't provide the physical form of my DBS but provided my personal data to check it on line on the government official web site , which is up to date and can't be forged and also I felt offended when they asked me why I don’t want to provide my DBS on paper, “do you have something to hide, it’s something there”?!!! I noticed a total lack of communication between the stuff of different departments because I kept receiving mails from different person regarding the documents that I had to bring along in the third day of trainning although I was expelled from the training and when I called to ask info, I was told in a rude way to ignore the mail. I’ve been called at impossible hours like 22:00 from an your office number, that I don't answer but when I called back, they couldn’t give me any explanations ,and other call from different persons who supposed to be my team leader that required my opinion about the trainning ,asked about my disposability for working schedules and the documents I need to provide for the employing form ,considering that I was expelled from the trainning the second and have been told that I would start a new session of trainning the next week(29/04) for what I never got any notification afterwards.
Never in my life have that kind of feelings and I am very disappointed about that experience with Abbots care. When I checked online for reviews I didn’t want to believe what I read but now I tend to believe all those allegations and complaints are more ore less accurate.
In a future maybe a better communication between departments will help and people will be happy to work with you.
Hope to have a reply from you.”
Nobody replied back to me and I sent this email twice … avoid them if you can.

Most of the carers are very nice; but do as little as possible. Some, out of the many (which I hastened to add are female leave asap). I had, quite frankly (female) did NOTHING this evening, she couldn’t even find the macrowave!!!! Dreadful.
