Horrible experience with this company

Horrible experience with this company. I got a new roof done by 5 Stars Roofing of Charleston, SC in Jan 2025. In July my roof leaked causing catastrophic damages to my HVAC system. The way the system was installed there is no protection for the zoning board, it was essentially mounted on a post above the air handler. Well, the water leaked (I have video evidence of this) onto the zoning board and water travels! Long story short I had to get a new system. 5 Stars was contacted and upon their inspection they found the leak, and sent a crew out to repair it great! Or so I thought... I asked if they could please do a leak check in a few days to ensure the repair was good. I was denied this. Being told that it wasn't necessary and when I pushed for it was flat out denied saying they could not do it. Well! It's SC and we had triple digit heat. We needed AC. So with the blessing from the roofing manager at 5 Stars Roofing we started installing a new system. Well! We get some rain! And guess what?? IT LEAKED! Same situation. Only this time it was worse. The water got into my wiring in the walls and caused a fire.. smoke damage and water damage to my ducting. So not only did we have to replace yet another system but now our ducting. 5 Stars comes out, finds the leak and fixes it. This time doing it correctly. HOWEVER....they are refusing to honor their warranty. Which covers manufacturing defects and faulty installation. 5 Stars is trying to insist they are not to blame! They say it was a "bad AC unit" that had a freon leak. Nope not at all. The NEW unit hadn't even had a chance to run yet. Anyway they send an extremely rude man by the name of MARSHALL from AZ to "inspect." He ended up having a little hissy fit while discussing the problem with me and my HVAC tech. He stormed out of my home accusing us of being disrespectful and told me that I wouldn't get a single dime from them. Very out of left field as we were trying to calmly and rationally explain everything. I believe he felt backed in a corner because it was clear that the leak caused this damage. He then wrote up a report and lied about multiple issues. One of which that our HVAC tech was not state certified YET he showed him his certs. I even have a copy of his state cert so that was a bold face lie.

I believe this company is running a scam. I am not finished with them and will not stop fighting. Please do yourself a favor and AVOID like the plague!
