I can't believe how horrible this bank…

I can't believe how horrible this bank is. I recommend staying away from them. I thought how nice it would be to support a local bank instead of one of the big banks, but 1st Choice completely screwed left right and center.

I needed a personal bank account to start building my savings so I could work my way up to buying my first rental property. I needed something separate from my business bank account at TD, and my shared account between me and my wife that I have at Scotiabank.

I had set up my 2 daughters with their first bank account here about 6 months prior. Then started this personal account of my own.

I had extra money that was surplus in my business account at TD going to to fund my savings at this 1st Choice account so I could work my way up to a down payment for my first investment property.

They somehow decided I was "high risk" in my banking activity at one point and froze an e-transfer. Dawn called me up and gave me the 3rd degree interrogation like I was some kind of drug cartel laundering money.

I answered all of her idiotic questions and she unfroze the transfer. My activity was pretty dang basic. I don't know if they have never had someone with a little extra money that is starting to invest before???

Either way, that was a few months ago now. Now out of the blue I get a phone call saying basically the same crap again, and now they are closing my account down...

I have NEVER had any issues like this with TD or Scotiabank. I've never even been interrogated by TD or Scotiabank before, let alone closing an account down on me...

I guess I'll have to go back to giving all of my business to the big banks and avoid supporting local banks from now on.

I'm absolutely blown away by how difficult it has been to do some basic banking with this institution.

I had been banking at 1st Choice Credit…

I had been banking at 1st Choice Credit Union for ten years without any issues. The customer service was always prompt and efficient. I adjusted to their having only two locations, as I could use online banking and ATMs at Publix.

In March of 2020 they closed indefinitely. They also shut down their website leaving members with no access. One could email, but responses were incompetent. They could not provide me with a statement!!

I opened accounts with a linked credit union that was able to access my 1st Choice accounts activity history! Why couldn't 1st Choice access their own member accounts???!!

Today is May 30, 2021. The site is up, but there is no live assistance. I cannot contact them to close our accounts, and they continue to deplete our accounts charging service fees when we are receiving NO SERVICE!!!
I filed cases with NCUA and CFPB. To make the matter worse, neither agency has anyone working to resolve financial and banking issues. Georgia Department of Banking and Finance is a dead end also. No one there to answer phones or file complaints with.
There is a lesson here-locally, state, and federally. Very frustrating.
