My son is taking Chinese lessons 2 times a week and has completed 3 classes so far (including 1 trial class) The classes run for 30 minutes and the teachers have been great. They are super friendly, engaging and patient. The class structure and Wukong App is very interactive with built in games as well as interactive homework that are fun to do. My son have been eager to do the homework right after class each time. He's also on the shy side and the teachers used different methods to help him relax and break the ice.
Areas of improvement would be the sales and onboarding processes. Prior to us deciding to move forward with purchasing a package, we were constantly called around the clock putting a bit of sales pressure which made me very uncomfortable and extra sceptical. All the different package tiers, bonus credits based on package and the ability to share and earn more credits made trying to understand what I am buying confusing causing more hesitation. In addition, there were 2 separate sales agents contacting me, one for math and one for Chinese with their own pricing packages which became too much and overwhelming. I would suggest one point of contact and simplification of combo packages and pricing. Like a salad bar where I can build my child's learning programs and I'd get a customised combo promotion price. The pricing itself was shockingly expensive because they require high up front payments for the full package if you want the best valued packages. With the current cost of living crisis and now petrol prices going up, it is hard to pay $2k+ upfront, but it is also hard to buy in on the smaller tier packages since the cost per class is extremely high so there was just no point to the cheaper packages either especially when my goal was for my son to take the classes long term. These were all the reasons why we hesitated until finally there was a promotion for 13 Chinese class credits (13 classes) and 4 maths credits (2 classes) for $289 AUD. Now I have to decide on a renewal package that offers a lower cost per class if I lock in within the next 2-3 weeks but this will be $1600+ for the package with a fair cost per class which gives us enough credits to carry us for the rest of the year, possibly into early next year. Just high upfront cost again that is weighing heavy to whether we proceed or not. Wukong must understand that this is not the only activity parents are playing for. Most families have their kids in sports, swimming and music all of which are generally pay as you go or a term by term basis. I strongly recommend the ability to pay as you go. It will make it easier for people to sign up for the programs. Not a lot of people have this kind of disposable income and it is hard to budget for. I did ask if tuition prices are stable for future renewals but it seems like the prices fluctuate and this also became another sales tactic used to get you to lock in on a bigger renewal package since there is "a risk" of prices going up. I really don't like this kind of sales tactic. Any traditional school you attend always have a standard and stable tuition pricing structure. I understand that Wukong probably wants to collect as much as possible upfront but this also goes against premium customer experience they aim to provide. Having both pay as you go and stable pricing would provide financial planning and stability for families without the pressure and worry of potentially putting ourselves in financial hardship, especially when Wukong touts their refund process anyways. The current pricing practice is very off putting and takes away from the premium customer experience. It also feels like its a scam even if its not one.
As for onboarding, everyone is super nice and I was contacted immediately via WeChat. It was a bit confusing at the beginning and I didn't realise there were coordinators vs the actual teachers. There are multiple chat groups created and it was confusing at first. If there is a way to streamline even more then that would be amazing. The Chinese class team is super nice and responsive and I'm happy with their service so far. Scheduling the math classes soon. We did a trial math class and was a bit surprised that the class sizes can go up to 12 or more kids. Luckily the trial class only had 6 kids and I think that is the perfect size.
My child also does not have much computer typing experience. It would be great if there is an orientation online activities for students to use to help them familiarise with WuKong's platform and also give them some keyboard skills. This would be an amazing bonus. :)

While I appreciate the enthusiasm and positive attitude of both the consultant and the homeroom teacher, I encountered significant confusion regarding course selection.
The main issue was inconsistent information. I was told by the consultant that I could enroll in AC8, but was later informed by the homeroom teacher that this was not possible for my child's level. This was frustrating.
Additionally, when discussing class changes and comparing the curriculum with others, the explanations felt unclear and confusing.

I found an excellent Chinese teacher for my son who has a strong passion for teaching the Chinese language. The syllabus is based on China’s curriculum, which may differ from that of other countries.

This was my son's first session & there was a substitute teacher. Overall, it was a positive experience & I was satisfied. If I were to give 4 star rating, it would simply be because my son has not yet had a class with the main teacher. What stood out most was that he did not feel the time passing at all 90min class was engaging & not boring for him. Thanks!

Great teachers! The teachers are very nice and patient. We live in the US, so it's hard to practice his Chinese on a day to day basis. My son mainly speaks English outside of Chinese class. His teachers have been very patient and always make an effort to explain things in different ways to help him understand.

I do not like the packages offered. It's too expensive and always in large packages, forcing customers to pay thousands. You are expensive!
Customers would rather pay < $300 for 1hr face to face lessons at a Chinese school (teachers also from China).
Wu Kong is more expensive than other competitors in the market. Not to mention it is only 30mins class. Competitor offer 45mins - 1hr for the slightly cheaper rate. WuKong to get 1 hr means you have to combine two 30 mins class.
Teachers are OK and depends on who you are assigned to. But overall, I felt when it comes to renewal, they try to lure you to commit to large packages, the larger it is the cheaper but it's very, very expensive! Money oriented obviously.
If the price is adjusted, it “may be” worth it.
