More like WOE air

Would give them zero if I could. They have the worst customer services ever. Flight was overbooked by 12 people so I was told I didn't have a seat and would be put on a flight 24 hours later. I spent 10 hours at the airport including waiting to get my suitcase back which had been checked in, this was a tiring and painful experience. Not how someone wants to spend their birthday!! I was eventually told my suitcase went to London on the original flight without me (which was a nightmare trying to sort out and had to ring numerous numbers to get somewhere) so I was told to buy some essentials to tide me over. When I tried to claim back for the essentials I was told that the most expensive thing on the receipt, an adapter, was an electronic device and should have been packed in my hand luggage not my checked luggage! I tried to argue the case for months and months but gave up as was getting nowhere, they clearly don't know what an electronic device is so I didn't get reimbursed for it! They don't care at all about all the inconvenience they cause passengers. They need to not overbook seats and have an amazing customer services then people might actually want to fly with them! Thank heavens I got my suitcase back once I got to London! I was given free return flight vouchers to use because of the overbooked flight fiasco but they have since cut a lot of routes and it looks like they are about to go in to admin any day now so am very reluctant to use them and get stuck abroad! If I ever do get to use them I won't be taking checked luggage!

WOW Air- A totally irresponsible airline-MUST BE AVOIDED

It is not just about my claim processing anymore. It is also about the worst possible service one can expect from any airlines. It took six weeks WOW airlines to acknowledge the claim properly. Then another six weeks to say that 'you can get a voucher or refund' then another eight weeks to ask for bank details in a format (e.g. asking for BIC no.) that is not even appropriate (I believe WOW did this intentionally to kill time) for paying the claimant, then further ten weeks or more (who knows when this ends) to keep process the claim..this is a never-ending process.
While enquired, WOW airlines always give a standard answer like the one you also said here. for example, it might take some time (???) to process claim, we process the claim in the same order we receive it, it can take longer during a busy period to answer to process claim etc. These excuses are now a 'standard non-sense' to customers. C'mon eight months to keep processing compensation? A totally irresponsible airlines-MUST BE AVOIDED

Extremely bad and tricky changes policy

Extremely bad and tricky cancellation/change policy. When you change your flight on the website, it is not at all clearly what you pay. Afterwards when you receive an email with the changes made, you realize that the bill is wayyy higher, than if you just bought a new ticket, and did not make changes to a existing ticket. When you call costumer service, they tell you, that it is too bad, no refund. No wonder WOW air is going down.

worst experience ever

WOW airlines is the worst, employing some of the most ignorant and unprofessional staff ever. Do NOT make the mistake of choosing them to save some money, not worth it.

This is regarding an experience I had while traveling with WOW airlines in June 2018.

I was going for a conference, and was supposed to take a WOW airlines flight during the first 2 legs of my journey (from New York to Reykjavik and Reykjavik to London), and then Eurowings from London to Vienna, which was my destination. When I went to check in for the WOW airlines flight at JFK, they told me they could not let me check-in since I did not have a transit visa for UK (my transit at UK was only 2-3 hours and I wouldn't be leaving the airport).

As per the UK government rules-- https://www(dot)gov(dot)uk/check-uk-visa/y/india/transit/somewhere_else/no

one does not need a transit visa if one has a valid US green card, so long as one isn't leaving the airport.

I showed them this link and told them that I had flown through UK before and I was sure I did not need a transit visa (for London STN airport). I showed them my valid US Green Card as well as valid Indian passport. I also showed them my valid Schengen visa and flight ticket to Vienna on the same day as I would be transiting through the London airport.

However, it was impossible to convince the WOW authorities who kept insisting I needed a UK transit visa and their software wouldn't let me in.

The lady at the counter as well as her superior she called had no idea what they were talking about. They said idiotic things like,

"You might have a US Green card, but you do not have a US visa.", "Maybe the UK government website is not updated, but our software updates every 24 hours, and it is not letting you in", "You need a UK "Schengen" visa because you are flying there from Iceland".

As a last resort, I ended up buying a new last-minute ticket $421 from Reykjavik to Vienna through Berlin (no UK transit). I tried contacting WOW airlines multiple times but as expected, they did not take responsibility.

This was a horrible experience. Avoid this airlines at all costs.

They lost my luggage

They lost my luggage. Then lied about the arrival time and location of the delayed delivery. Then refused to accept my claim until I brought in an airline lawyer. Then they accepted the claim but did not pay the money. 5 months later and the fight continues.
What an unprofessional airline, I will never, ever fly with them again.

I called Wowair to ensure I could…misinformation

I called Wowair to ensure I could travel with a surfboard. My board was within the size allowed and I was ensured that my board could be included within my 20kg allowance. When I flew I was charged $123 Aud as a standard fee for a surfboard. Wowair was simply dishonest.

I would highly suggest NEVER to fly…

I would highly suggest NEVER to fly with WOW Air. I made the mistake of booking a second time with them and I deeply regret it...

My first flight was in March 2017 from Copenhagen to Reykjavik. I made a mistake on the booking, called 1 minute later and even though I wanted to change to another WOW Air flight, I was told that I had to repurchase another ticket.

I unfortunately booked my second trip with them on the 20th of December 2018 from Los Angeles to Copenhagen via Reykjavik. I receive a text from them 3 days before my flight telling me that due to unforeseen circumstances I am now flying 17 hours before my initial departure so I depart on the 19th of December. My layover is now 19 hours instead of 2 hours. They tell me I can cancel or change my flight but note that this is during Christmas season so I am left with the following options:

If I cancel my flight, the ticket I will repurchase will be 2x more expensive so I decide to try to change it. All options that are offered to me include a 19 hour layover. So now I am left with the option of paying twice as much for a new ticket with another company or waiting 19 hours, all of this because they made a mistake. So as far as I can see, I am technically paying for their messup?

I have never ever dealt with such inflexible and bad customer service before. Oh and if you think that I was offered compensation for the inconvenience, I got $0. Actually I technically have to pay for this because I'm missing an extra day of work... I asked for a hotel room, for money or for some type of compensation but they kept on repeating my options: change your flight or cancel it.

If WOW air is reading this, I hope that you will soon realise that you can't make your customers pay for your mistakes. This is a business model that is doomed to fail and to be quite honest I hope that you go bankrupt very soon so that no one else will have to experience such infuriating lack responsibility. Own up to your mistakes...

I will do my best to make as much noise as possible and not recommend your airline to anyone. This is truly a disgrace of a company.

I recommend them to everybody

Flight with them 3 times to Iceland and back to Berlin. Never had any complaints. The Ladies in the Cabin are super friendly and professional.
For me it was more then enough leg space (1,67m). My boyfriend (1.,92m) fit in as well but I had to remind the passenger in front of him to stop changing the seat position. So if you are able to ask people (or to press your knee against their seat to stop them) you fit in there even if you are tall.
If you forgot to get something to drink an Egils for 3€ is a nice option but you can only pay with credit card.
Check in and luggage drop off works perfectly and fast. We also got our luggage back very quick on all flights.
I love to fly with Wow Air :)

TERRIBLE.

TERRIBLE. They lost my bag on a DIRECT FLIGHT. So I called customer service which gave me a number for Pittsburgh's baggage desk for Wow air, who NEVER ANSWERS THEIR PHONE even during their weird business hours (3pm - 8pm -- who does that?!). So I called back, and was given an email address to contact. That email address immediately bounced back and wasn't even a real address. Then I found the right email address on the website (why on earth did your own customer service not know the correct email?!?!) which was answered by the same customer service that got me lost in the first place. Then i finally found the number for their baggage customer service (why wasn't I given this number in the first place) who told me it would be AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE MY BAG GOT TO ME!?!?! WHAT?! And then she said I can go pick it up at the airport if I wanted but there's no way of knowing when that will actually get there until the same desk that I've been trying to call in Pittsburgh who doesn't answer the phone creates the file to get my bag back to me. WHAT A SCREWED UP CONVOLUTED SYSTEM. I WANT MY BAG BACK. I WAS GONE FOR A MONTH. LITERALLY ALL MY STUFF IS IN THERE. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE.

Paid for Premium Seat, received Basic

Hard to believe that they placed us in Row 35 (Basic) when it was supposed to be Row 1 (Premium) for the 6 hour flight KEF-BWI. And more unbelievable is that they have not returned any $ for their incompetence after 15 days. And when I first notified them about it THEY said I sat in Row 1, even when the flight attendants sent them their report. They asked me for our boarding passes which I provided. Perhaps they hoped I lost them so that they would deny it?

It is useless to complain, their Customer Service just wear you out until you give up

We have sent an official complaint to the Icelandic Transportation Board, as well to WOW Air about the treatment my partner and I received and the fees we were illegally, I repeat, ILLEGALLY, charged at the gate of our flight WW447 AMS-KEF, on the date of September 3 at AMS (Schippol) airport. We have tried to address this issue with WOW AIR customer service, but they refuse to honor our complaint.

We are not complaining of the lack of free meals or in-flight entertainment. We know how so-called low cost airlines operate and have never had a problem with any of them until we tried to fly WOW for the first (and last) time on Sept 3. Our complaint is much more serious.

We booked our WOW air flights months in advance (and not cheap by any standard!), checking and measuring the baggage allowance very carefully prior to purchasing our tickets. We sent our photographs to prove that our bags fit the WOW measurements and fit comfortably into the INCLUDED measurement frames placed at all WOW gates. The photographs were taken on the day of our flights, yet nobody at WOW cares about hard evidence and keeps repeating that gate staff "certainly" acted professionally, without any proof whatsoever!

Namely, at the gate of our flight from AMS to KEF were stopped impolitely by an individual from WOW ground personnel, who, without even measuring our bags, started insisting that our little bags were „carry-ons“ just because they had wheels (they both have only 2 back side wheels, not 4), and that we had to pay in order to get them on the plane. She would not even look at the original ticket, where the definition of „included luggage“ only showed dimensions and had in no way specified that included luggage could not have wheels. This individual further refused to provide her name and also prohibited me from taking a photo of her ID for evidence, repeating multiple times that „it is not allowed.“ Every question I tried to ask she dismissed with „It is not allowed“, to the point that I felt I was talking to a robot. I tried to show her the original ticket on my phone, but she absolutely refused to have any human communication or reasoning with me, and kept repeating „it is not allowed.“ When I asked to see a supervisor, she replied, „it is not allowed to have a supervisor,“ after which she moved us to the side and said we were not getting on the flight at all. We had to wait until the entire plane was boarded, when she sent a colleague of hers, who likewise insisted that our small bags were „trolleys“ and were not allowed on the flight for free due to „safety.“ I again tried to explain that my original ticket showed no such prohibition whatsoever, but she insisted we had to pay or we could not fly. We absolutely felt blackmailed, humiliated and ended up profoundly disturbed after this experience, to the point that we are considering legal action against this crew and the entire company.

They charged us 160 Euro for our two bags, and only then were we allowed to board the flight. Once we paid we were told that we could place our bags wherever we chose, and when I said that the entire affair was not about safety but about paying, they had no response, because this is what it was all about – extorting money.

This episode borders blackmail and extortion, because we were effectively prevented from boarding our flight unless we cashed out 160 Euro, and as such makes ample material for a legal action.

If the company wants to prohibit the use of wheeled luggage, it must define the „included“ luggage as such excluding wheels. Given that my ticket has no such restrictive definition of „included luggage“ whatsoever, I am free to interpret the shape or pattern of the luggage freely, as long as it complies with the size measurements – and in this case the size of our luggage was fully compliant with the allowed measurements. This means that the charge we were forced to pay in order to even board the flight was illegal. The problem is not with the ground crew alone, however, because they were certainly instructed by the company to extort money from fully compliant passengers, even if it meant acting in such unprofessional and unacceptable manner.

Abandoned in Iceland. worst customer service!

Never fly with this airline. We were abandoned in Iceland even though we were in the airport 3hrs before departure and 1hour at departure gate. Our parents managed to get on the bus to the plane but due to the many lines for different planes all happening at the same time. (so very disorganised) They left us behind! No call outs on the tannoy, no attempt to grab us out of the line, we were only a few metres from the desk! We just assumed everyone in front of us was still getting on the plane and there would be another bus coming for us all. We weren't the only ones that didn't get on either.
We filed a complaint straight away and waited 19months for a reply! Which basically said tough luck. Wow air clearly didn't even read our complaint as all they replyed was....it's our fault because we were not there on time. But we were! Our parents were in front of us and they got on the flight! I was emailing them regularly to remind them to reply to our complaint but was always ignored.
Not only did they abandon us they then had zero staff left at the airport to help us and was completely stranded! The airport then closed for the night and we had no where to go. We had to organised new flights with Norwegian Air, who were by far the best airline in Iceland. And had to find a hotel for the night. Not to mention the lose of wages missed for getting back to work a day late. My travel insurance won't cover the cost as they believe the airline is at fault. I should taken them to court for the stress they have caused!

WOW - How miserable!

WOW - How miserable! This company charged us $160 for supposedly not paying luggage. Usually when you book extra luggage it includes both directions . Not with this company though. They charge for each item you bring for each flight back and forth separately and because the customer doesn't know that they charge twice the amount directly at the airport. So you basically end up paying the amount of an extra ticket for your luggage. Don't get lured up by their low prices. This company is a fraud and a scam. And we will take juridical actin. The same happened to three other people next to us while we were trying to check in. Please be alerted when you fly with them that they will suck up every dollar in your pockets.
The worst: for all the buzz at the check in, you don't even get water on the plane. Never ever again. WOW - How bad! 👎
