Excellent Fishing Excursions

Twice a group of 4 have travelled with Richard to Guinea and once to Florida with my family. All occasions were eventful for all the right reasons. On one occasion we had problems with a boat (it was Africa) and were fully compensated. I would have no hesitation in recommending World sport Fishing and am currently in the process of organising another trip.

Guinea Bissau Fishing

A group of 4 of us have travelled to Guinea Bissau on two separate occasions with Richard before lockdown. Both times excellent trips, well organised, good food and tidy digs. One small problems with being collected from the airport and Richard fully compensated us for a hotel for the night.
Would recommend and we're all looking forward to Costa Rica in November booked with Richard.

Senegal wildfowling and pig shooting…

Senegal wildfowling and pig shooting 10th Feb. 2023.

I can’t speak highly enough of the care, humour and excellent sport enjoyed during my recent Senegal trip with my son.
Having recently damaged my legs , I was expecting to spend most of my visit sitting around the pool at the ranch- Not on your life- Richard and his staff rose to the challenge and managed to arrange a full schedule for me.
The food was varied and to a high standard at both the locations I visited , as was the accommodation.
The staff were happy and very efficient as were the shooting guides.
Despite the proximity to the wetlands (one camp was actually over a pool) mosquitoes were minimal- which was a considerable relief!
You need to have a sense of humour when dealing with Customs anywhere- and Africa in particular - World Sport Fishing provided a negotiator to assist the clearance of guns which was enormously helpful.
In summary I have no hesitation in recommending this trip to anyone who enjoys shooting both in terms of value for money , comfort and quality of sport ( those birds don’t hang around!) .

FIVE STAR FAMILY FISHING

Our family of five, including three young children, visited the Island of Orango, Ginea Bissau in February and it was a holiday of a life time. With a 12, 11 and eight-year-old in tow, Richard tailor-made a wonderful trip for us which incorporated superb fishing with excursions which included mesmerising boat trips around the archipelago, trips to neighbouring islands of outstanding natural beauty and a visit to see GB’s famous salt water hippos, something we will never forget. Richard, the lovely Marianne and PePe our private guide looked after our party superbly, with real thoughtfulness and attentiveness to the younger members of our party - eating the abundance of fish we had caught each evening, was a heavenly way to end each action-packed day. Huge thanks for everything, we can’t thank you enough and look forward to returning.

Argentina in 2022

We book a trip to Argentina in 2020 but we could go when Covid struck. Richard was more than helpful in rearranging the trip (being cancelled on 2 more times)
When we did get there it was everything we was told, I can't recommend world sports fishing enough,
Just booked up for Africa next year at Ranch De Bango and can't wait!!

I have booked a few fishing experiences…

I have booked a few fishing experiences through Richard at Worldsport Fishing and have never been let down at all, they are very professional and informative, Gary and Paul have had the best time away and all very well organised. They have been to Florida now twice, Norway, Africa and are now booked to go to Panama in October. Would not book a fishing trip with anyone else. In my opinion the best around. Thanks for everything to Richard and his team. Nicola and Gary

Fishing in Cuba with World Sportfishing

Absolute fantastic fishing trip out in Cuba booked through Richard Sheard from Worldwide Sportfishing. Caught plenty of Bonefish, Barracuda, Tarpon and was lucky enough to get my first Permit. Everything ran like clockwork from start to finish....Highly recommended!

Fantastic world sport fishing. Hunting globally.

Having used world sport fishing for some years. In fact looking back. My first trip to Senegal was almost 15 years ago. I can honestly say that the organisation/ cost and friendliness of Richard and his team are second to none. I have been lucky enough to hunt shoot and fish around the world. And always returned to world sport fishing. This year instead of Argentina. I went again to Senegal and was not disappointed. The wing bird shooting in world class. And the ground game very entertaining. Richard and his wife personally made sure we were looked after and entertained all the time day and night. I took a friend with me this time because of my recommendation and stories I’ve told in the past. Thank you Richard and your teammates. Your organisation and leadership meant the world. I very much look forward to joining you again in the future.

Guinea Bissau fishing with World…

Guinea Bissau fishing with World Sportfishing and Richard Sheard has again not failed to deliver on another great trip. This was my fourth time visiting and again this place did not fail to deliver and not only did we catch many many fish but again i managed to break the 100lb barrier this time with a 140lb nurse shark so thats four visits and every time i have broke the ton up WOW this place pound for pound has got to be one of the best places to catch such a variety of fish and even better they have now built some new huts on the beach which in my opinion are well worth the extra few pounds to make the trip even better.
We had a longer stay than the standard trip and boy did it pay off and as for our day at the chimneys a well known mark about 2 hours away from the island we had a real RED LETTER DAY catching so many fish and different species we were buzzing it was a day i will never forget
We had jacks, snappers, cobia, barracuda, stingrays, lear fish the action was non stop and we were still talking about it on the plane coming home a day i will never forget
The camp itself is fine with good food a a reasonably well stocked bar to help you relax after your exploits battling with fish in the sun what more could you ask for
Gripes not really any i suppose if i was really picky we were meant to have hot showers which at best were temperamental but T.I.A This is Africa not Palm beach and for me just a minor blip
I had two new P.BS as i said a 140lb nurse shark and a 85lb barracuda so again a very happy chap
Thanks to Richard and all at World Sportfishing for yet another great angling adventure and see you all soon
John

Guinea Bissau Shambles with World Sport Fishing

I was in Guinea Bissau with World Sport Fishing in 2010 and again in 2012. These trips were excellent. Fishing was great. Boats and tackle were excellent. I booked a trip for a 9 of us for October 2022. It was a total shambles. The island of Orango where we were to stay was badly hit by a storm and the local hotel/bar destroyed. We had to stay on Bubaque Island. The accommodation in Les Dauphins Hotel was fine. Most rods that were to be supplied were still on Orango Island. Fortunately, we had brought some rods ourselves but we still hadn't enough for 9 anglers. There were 3 boats for the 9 of us. One which Richard Sheard, owner of World Sport Fishing, had hired from a local guide was excellent . The other 2 were seriously poor. In previous trips the WSF boats had 2 engines on each in good condition. Now there was only 1 engine on each and they were in very poor condition. On the first day the main WSF boat broke down and the 3 anglers on board were stuck in the sea, for 4 hours in blazing sunshine, before another boat came out to rescue them. The main engine of that boat also broke down. This also meant that the anglers did not have a full days fishing. A repeat performance occurred 2 days later with another boat. When the missing rods were finally delivered from Orange many were unusable. We were not brought to many of the good fishing spots as they were too far away from Bubaque. Fishing was way below the standard of the previous 2 trips. Only one group had a days beach fishing. I have fished in many locations around the world and I would classify this as the worst trip. Richard Sheard was in no way apologetic and gave no compensations for fishing days lost. In his last email to me he stated that this was his last season running the business but it looks like he is still operating. I would seriously advise anglers to avoid using World Sport Fishing. There are other operators in Guinea Bissau that are better.

Fishing Guinea-Bissau with World Sport fishing

I will start with the fact that my solo trip to Guinea-Bissau at the end of September was cancelled due to the Moroccan government's decision to suspend flights from the Uk due to the Covid outbreak. I got an offer for another trip at a future date from WSF Transfer travel but decided to get a refund. I was hoping to get my money back from Lloyd’s bank travel insurance, but it was very difficult.... After a few months of waiting, I got a negative answer from the bank insurance. I then contacted WSF and asked if they had the possibility to reschedule the fishing trip. After a few months I got good news from the WSF ... I'm going fishing in Guinea Bissau on May 18. They found me a fishing mate from Austria ... I can't say how I thankful I was to WSF, what a great company ...!!!!!

Now About Traveling

The whole journey from start to the end went perfectly without any interruption. Hotel at the Orango Island was excellent, cottages on the shore overlooking the sea. Breakfast was OK, dinner supper, lunch served on the board or on the shore OK. The boats were good, fast and although they don't have enough Rod gimbals. We each had 5 rods in this part lying on the deck. It would be good to have 8 rod holdalls on the roof. Skippers were very professional and knew their job... how to find the fish ...

Fishing

This is a real fishing paradise. We were fishing using a lot of fishing techniques, spinning, jigging, bottom fishing, trolling, balloon fishing, beach fishing spinning, beach fishing-surf fishing, anchor trolling, and all time with success. We caught a big number of different species of fish.

Would I go WITH THE WSF AGAIN?

Definitely yes. This is a well organized fishing adventure to angler’s haven…. Well done Richard!!!! Well done World Sea Fishing.

Thank you .... and see you next year ....

Fishing Orango with WSF, Guinea Bissau

Well organised trip to paradise with a fantastic hotel on Orango.....World Sport Fishing were superb with their organisation they provided a well managed and thoroughly enjoyable trip in this fourth world african country.

The fishing....based on my brief trip to the delta, i fear that the netters have significantly impacted the population of Jack Trevalle and this is no longer the mecca it may once have been. My opinion is a snapshot based on 7 days fishing and several hundred KMs of boat travel around the area but i think is fair reflection of the situation.

My only observation/criticism of the management of the operation concerns the maintenance (or complete lack of) of the fish boats.... There is no maintenance! The boats are only repaired when they stop working (which impacts your fishing particularly if you are only there for 7 days). I lost effectively a day and a half of my 7 days of fishing due to boat problems. These breakdowns are really predictable so WSF may wish to consider investing in having a spare boat or two ready to go on site, or alternatively agree to refund fisherman who are impacted with the cost of the days lost.

Would i go again...Yes, if someone else was paying. It is paradise and the bush hotel is special.

Hi Paul

Thanks for your review . I accept that after 2yrs of Covid meaning that the boats have been neglected due to the inability of any of our mechanics to travel and as such the normal annual full overhaul which they would have receive in Dakar was impossible , I am sure that someone with your vast experience of Africa will understand that maintenance in a country where the nearest source of spare parts is 450kms away can be difficult without covid , let alone within a pandemic . I am sure that once everything settles down normality will return.
As far as new boats are concerned , as you may be aware the travel industry has been pretty much slaughtered by covid , most companies are just struggling to survive and we have prioritised our investment in order that our clients have not lost their holidays , as you will no doubt have gathered from the other groups on the trip with you , who have both had trips rescheduled by World Sport Fishing Ltd at no extra cost , I would rather do this than spend money on a boat which stands idle all the time .
Noone has asked me or even contacted me about lost fishing days , and you will of course recall that the Beach fishing day that you booked was actually supplemented free of charge into a half days boat fishing .
As to the Jack Crevalle issue , you did not catch jacks because you were there on a windy week with poor water clarity { i assume the back end of the massive storm that hit the UK , this is unseasonal for Guinea Bissau } , popper and lure fishing does not work as well when the water is cloudly , we catch Jacks sometimes and we dont catch them at other times and it tends to come down to water clarity , I am not really sure that you can condemn a fishery on the basis of one rather windy week.

Great shooting trip in Toubakuta…

Great shooting trip in Toubakuta Senegal apart from nearly being shot by my friend :). Good job there was a sturdy termite mound to absorb the lead. Shot countless doves, a snipe a sand grouse and some pheasanty things. Pierre was a great host and very fun and eccentric character. Would definately go back again.

What a complete shambles...

What a complete shambles...
Stuck at the airport in Guinea-Bissau at 1am, nobody arrived to collect us.
We eventually found our hotel detailed in my invoice after being ripped off by local taxis, it was boarded up and padlocked!
We had to pay out and ripped off again for another hotel.
WSF telephone numbers where unanswered and switched off all weekend!! No way of contacting WSF whilst stuck in Guinea-Bissau
Finally we arrived on Orango under our own steam.
The rented tackle was very bad, the local skippers had no leads, hooks or spares. No lights on the boats.
They only fished hours during the day, not based on tides and currents.
One of our group got extremely bad food poisoning, he couldn't fish all week and no help available.
Don't book WSF.

G-Bissau a fishing adventure of a lifetime.

I have been to G-Bissau with WSF many times and it is a reliable fishing destination. Our last trip in 2019 was no different. During our 8 days of boat fishing we caught a great variety of high quality fish and broke many personnel bests [PB] which is what all anglers aspire to. The whole package is a fabulous adventure, i love the fishing and the camp on Orango Island and the WSF skippers and mates. Top destination, highly recommended by satisfied customer of WSF.
