Keep a tool kit for doing auto repairs in the car at all times. Your car came with equipment to change a tire, and you will need to purchase a lug wrench and a jack if you do not have them. You should probably get a Phillips and flat head screwdriver and several types of wrenches.

Try looking for someone who works from their own garage. If they possess sufficient experience, you can get the same work done at a much cheaper price. You may save tons of money by going down this route.

Ask about labor rates or prices before giving the keys to a mechanic. Some repair shops have details about their rates posted on the walls, so you need to carefully read and ask any questions you have if something doesn't make sense. You must be able to tell how and why you are being billed for your car repairs. Some shops provide repair times that manufacturers establish. Some "Minor" repairs can take all day job by some manufacturers.

You don't necessarily have to visit a car dealer in order to get your car fixed. There are good mechanics all over that can fix your house. Find a mechanic who you are comfortable with and reliable.

Take pictures of your entire vehicle prior to bringing it into any shop. Some shops may strip vehicles and resell them. You should document what the vehicle looks like in case your mechanic fails to fix them or makes things worse.

Even if your problem seems minor to you, it pays to get it looked at just the same. A seemingly small problem can become a major one if don't pay attention to it.

Ask any of your friends or family if they know a good mechanic to you. This is a great way to locate a person you know. This is a much preferable option to using an unknown mechanic.

AVOID! IT'#s A SCAM

AVOID!! Its a scam. Purchased a manual through Stellantis Workshop domain. Several emails received from several different domain names and business names. The instructions state that the product will only work if you download (and pay for) several 3rd party software downloads onto your device. I tried 3 times to contact them for clarity but no response. This business seems to have several fronts which all look convincing but there is nothing real about it. Be careful what you download from this business.

Support helped me through a tricky installation

I purchased a manual that required a Virtual Machine to run. I'm not very tech-savvy, but I emailed their support and 'David' got back to me within a few hours. He walked me through the setup and now I have full dealer-level software on my laptop. Exceptional service for the price.

Exactly what I needed for a full engine rebuild

I was skeptical about downloading a 15GB file for my BMW, but it was the genuine factory service manual. It included the full timing chain procedure and all the specific torque sequences that aren't in the generic store-bought books. It took a while to download, but it saved me thousands in potential mistakes

Essential for BMW owners

I know my way around cars, but BMWs can be incredibly tricky with their specialized sensors. This manual covered every diagnostic code and calibration procedure in detail. It’s the same info the pros use. For the price of a couple of quarts of oil, you get a lifetime of technical data. Don't hesitate to buy if you're a serious DIYer.

Fixed my Passat's window regulator myself

I was a bit nervous to take the door panel off my VW, but the step-by-step instructions in this manual were so encouraging. It showed exactly where every hidden clip was located so I didn't break anything. The manual paid for itself in the first 20 minutes of work. If you're scared to start a repair, just get the manual—it makes a world of difference.

Perfect for my Ram 1500 eTorque!

I was really struggling to understand the hybrid system on my new Ram until I got this manual. The eTorque system is confusing, but the diagrams here made everything click. It’s clearly the official factory data. The checkout was seamless and the download was available within seconds. Great resource for modern trucks

John Haynes reputation is trashed

What is the point of this company anymore. At one time they were the gold standard in DIY manuals, now they are poor to say the least. They may as well put 'our advice is take it to the nearest garage' in every section. Now they have done a system upgrade (oh the irony) and locked people including me out of their accounts and thus their digital manuals. Will I get it back or approach Trading Standards? Time will tell

The Purchase and download were very good and quick. But the advert said Citroen C4 Picasso manual covers vehicles 2007 - 2017. My car is 2016 Mk 2 model and this manual only covers to 2013.
I have contacted by email and online contact. Over the last couple months and all I have had is a link for Mercedes and today a link which was the original sent which is NO GOOD for my car.

I just wanted a simple workshop manual…

I just wanted a simple workshop manual in a basic PDF format but what I got was RAR files that need to be extracted and then those need to be viewed on a virtual desktop which required more loading of software. The instructions that came with the files was inaccurate for getting to open and view these files. I had to go on line to figure out how to do it correctly. When I finally got it all done, I was left viewing one page of something that appeared to be from an application utilized by an auto repair shop to log a customer's car for their records. No manual. Attempted to contact customer service via their email contact form and get a spinning timer that never stops spinning so it isn't being sent. Looks like they got my money and I got nothing.
