international buyers BEWARE

I had a truly awful experience with this company. I have never encountered an international retailer that sells goods without clearly disclosing that customers will be charged import duty taxes at checkout. As an overseas buyer, you should be aware that you may end up paying 25–40% more than the listed price due to duty taxes — and this company does not cover those costs.

When I brought this issue to their attention, the way it was handled was outrageous. They acknowledged there was a problem and even changed their own Terms and Conditions after the fact once I raised concerns about the duty charges. Despite that, they refused to refund me fully and instead claimed they needed additional “official documentation,” even though I provided clear proof of payment that matched the charges exactly.

Rather than resolving a straightforward issue, they made the process unnecessarily difficult and adversarial. This isn’t about the products themselves — it’s about how the company handles mistakes and treats customers when something goes wrong.

I am sharing this review mostly because I feel a responsibility to pay it forward so that other international buyers don’t encounter the same problem. If you’re ordering from outside their country, go in knowing you will pay far more than expected and should not expect transparency or fair resolution if there’s an issue.

Dear Katie,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. As mentioned in our previous communication, import duties and taxes are set by local authorities and are the responsibility of the customer when ordering internationally. That said, we always strive for transparency and have clarified this further in our terms to avoid any confusion going forward 😊

Please know that your situation has been carefully reviewed and handled in line with our policies, and we appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. While we’re sorry the outcome did not meet your expectations, your feedback is important to us.

Wishing you all the best,
Team woods_

This company has responsive customer…

This company has responsive customer care. They have some good products and some not-so-worth-it products. I have tried quite a few since I liked some of the things previously ordered enough to go back. I would say though ( The reason I took off 2 stars) is that I have had a hit or miss experience with a few items. For example I ordered a lip repair tube and it was clearly a quality issue with it, So I reached out questioning why it has little balls/lumps in the balm and was told to simply return it, which was a hassle for me. I didn't like the lack of explanation or empathy.... A month later I get an email saying they are made aware of a quality issue with the product and offered a "discount code" which can only be used with purchase.... So basically instead of issuing a refund as most companies would do in a case like this they are forcing customers into buying more products in order to get compensated ( a free replacement) for the faulty item they send out. Not a cool business practice but at least they offer a solution.

UPDATE: To respond to the person below, in short the proper thing would have been to refund everyone who purchased this poorly mixed / faulty skincare product. No coupons, deals or nonsense offers. OR considering you were made aware of the issue, the company should have sent out a free return label (since that's what your mentioning) without people having to waste time reaching out asking for one! Woods knew they messed up a product that was shipped out to customers and should have done a clear-to-the-point damage control.

Hi dear

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent experience.
I'm truly sorry to hear about your recent experience with our product and service. We take your feedback to heart and deeply regret the inconvenience you've faced.

Firstly, we want to address the quality issue you encountered with Lip Repair. We sincerely apologize for the presence of "little balls/lumps" in the balm’s texture. We want to assure you that we have taken immediate steps to rectify this problem, and it appears that this issue occurred due to the product not being blended properly during the manufacturing process or due to inaccurate temperature regulations upon the mixing of the formula. As a result, the balm did not appear homogenous in texture, which of course isn’t the level of quality we strive for.

In terms of our return policy, we offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and are more than happy to provide a free return label upon request if a customer is unsatisfied with a product. For items that display quality issues, we also offer a full refund once we receive the returned product. These returns are essential for us to conduct thorough tests and make necessary improvements for future batches.

We understand that our initial offer of a discount code for a replacement may not have been ideal, and we sincerely apologize if it seemed like we were pressuring you to make another purchase. We want to make it clear that we do offer a full refund as an alternative to a replacement, and we apologize if this information was not clearly communicated in our initial email.
Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us, and we acknowledge that we did not meet your expectations in this instance. We genuinely appreciate your feedback as it helps us learn and improve our products and services.

We would like to continue the conversation through email to find a suitable solution that will leave you pleased and satisfied. Please reach out to us at info@woodscopenhagen.com, where we will be happy to assist you.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Warm regards,

Sofie
