Don't share ideas or have them taken
Working with Matt started as one of the more nerve wracking decisions of my life considering the expense. I worked with him for years in pursuing professional development.
We generated great trust and I came to see Matt as a friend almost as much as a mentor. He offered to invest in business opportunities I worked on, although they never reached the collection stage.
Matt offered me 50% of company if I could help him build it because he had no idea where to even start. After spending several months working on the project for him in my off time, and giving him the roadmap for the business, he reduced the offer to 25% and added an additional person to the ownership structure. A few weeks later, he cut me out entirely. Now the money is rolling in with an identical blueprint. The company even bears the name I gave it.
