I cannot fault the experience I had today! The location was beautiful (Brampton Mill) and although we didn't end up walking very far, there was more than enough for us to learn about within the ar... See more

Foraging course
We took part on one of Wild Food UK’s foraging courses at Drovers Rest in Herefordshire today and we couldn’t rave about it enough. Marlow the course instructor was very knowledgeable, engaging and incredibly interesting. We learnt a lot and have already signed up for another course later in the year.
The day consisted of a small talk to start with, where it was clear that Wild Food Uk are passionate about the subject but also about preserving the country side. We then wandered around some beautiful country side and learnt which plants we could eat, how to prepare them and also learnt about a few not to eat. We ate freshly prepared wild food which was delicious . Wild Food UK are very good in dealing with food allergies as well. For anyone who is interested in this sort of thing I would highly recommend Wild Food Uk.
Best foraging courses around!
I have done two courses with Wildfooduk and I cant be any happier! I now know how to safely identify a bunch of mushroom I can forage and eat myself and that's totally worth the time and money spent! First course was with Fabio, he's very knowledgeable and was able to teach lots of features to look for in different mushrooms genes although at points it felt a little like a lecture with not much interaction. The meal at the end was some kind of buckwheat porridge which wasn't very pleasant but that's a personal opinion. The second one was with Marlow and what can I say? He's the master! We were very excited to meet him after having watched so many of his videos for the last couple of years in YouTube. We had a couple of mushroom which we foraged the day before and he used them to teach us all how to identify them, what a pleasure and honour! He was informative, entertaining, professional and even signed us his book and cooked the yummiest wild mushroom pasta I have ever had. We had the best afternoon with him in Kent and will definitely be booking again soon. Thanks Marlow, it was a pleasure to meet you ♥️🍄
A lovely day out with experts in their field
I think it is a bit hit and miss with who you get to take you on the course. They can either be brilliant and there is a lot of seeing/touching and walking or there is far too much talking......and not much else.
The spring course is probably a better bet if you are undecided as there will be a lot more to see and pick and eat. All the instructors are experts, some are better at "teaching" than others. A friendly group, completely trustworthy and a nice afternoon out in the countryside.
Amazing afternoon with Dr Rob and others in Cardiff
Amazing afternoon with Dr Rob and some like minded fellow forager wannabes. I've wanted to do this for a while and finally had a booked slot as a gift. 4 hours in the fantastic surrounds of Bute Park, Cardiff on rugby International day no less. There was a wide and abundant selection available to learn about. Rob was very knowledge and pretty good chef. This event was well worth the cost for the course, its so much better than using just a book. looking forward to my next course booking, thanks Matt
Excellent foraging course for all
Today I went on my second course with this company. The first was with my daughters in May with Eric at Ross on Wye, one of the founders and it was so good, I booked a second with my partner who has a spinal injury. This one was more local at Elmdon and we were guided by Phil. By taking a camping chair to sit during the talks between walks, we were able to complete the course without difficulty. Informative, enjoyable and fun, these courses are for everyone. The food prepared with foraged food at the end is amazing. The prep and time by these dedicated, experienced, knowledgeable foragers that goes into creating an enjoyable day is phenomenal. I would highly recommend a day out in nature with these guys. And definately buy the book. Well laid out and excellent photos!
This is the second time I’ve been on…
This is the second time I’ve been on the Wild Food UK walk. Both times has been with the knowledgable and enthusiastic Kerry - who even runs a poisoning identification group for plant mishaps!
Both times I’ve been blown away by the fact they include a three course vegan meal from mostly foraged goods (food is usually vegetarian, but if someone is listed as vegan the whole meal
Is vegan - just say on the booking form). The course it self is so insightful, I’ve learnt something different each time and encourage everyone to have a go!
Cannot fault,worth every penny
Absolutely brilliant.
Eric was a fantastic host;he showed us what we can and cannot eat, gave brilliant descriptions of each plant and picked plants we could eat there and then. We had a elderberry champagne and soup while out on the walk. After we got back to a set up in the beer garden where we ate had starters and mushroom pasta.
Eric made the whole experience very interesting and it is clear that he is very knowledge about foraging.

I’ve just had a fantastic afternoon on the Craigengillan estate course. We saw absolutely loads, tried the bits we found along the way (the safe ones) and the food at the end and on the way round was fabulous. Jordan the instructor was fantastic and an absolute fountain of knowledge answering all questions and going over what we saw in detail.
I’m ready to go back again already!!
A wonderful way to spend the afternoon
A wonderful way to spend the afternoon. We went to Drovers rest near Hay on Wye for the experience and learnt so much. Eric was a fantastic guide.
Our delicious delights were, elderflower champagne, hogwort and wild garlic soup (this was amazing!), haw leathers, mixed leaf salad, St George mushrooms in cream sauce, hogwort, wild garlic and pine nut tart. We are looking forward to going again in the autumn.
A fab afternoon! Mind blown!
My husband and I went on a foraging course in the New Forest on 29 October 2022.
We had a fantastic afternoon finding out that you can find and eat mushrooms that you would never believe were edible. Mind blown!!
Fabio was excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable and a great cook. We drank sparkling elderflower wine, mushroom soup and the he cooked the mushrooms we found in a cream sauce with pasta. Yum!
A brilliant afternoon and I'd love to do another Wild Food UK course at a different time of year, to learn what else you can eat from the great British countryside.
The foraging book is a good investment too.
Thanks Wild Food UK and Fabio. Brilliant!
I had an amazing experience
I had an amazing experience!
The knowledge Phil had was fantastic and he took us on a great adventure.
Definitely plan to book another course, and would highly recommend it to friends and family.
Thank you to all involved in making the day so enjoyable.
Enjoyable and fascinating, great host.
I really enjoyed this afternoon walk and forage. I learned lots, chatted with the other attendees and thought our host/expert Fabio was passionate, fun and informative. The food along the way, showing off foraged ingredients in a recipe, was excellent. I also loved the meal at the end. Highly recommended if you have an interest.
Terrific experience
Terrific experience! Very interesting and informative, learned an awful lot about what you can and can't eat. Food and drink provided all added to to the 'forage experience'. Ceri our guide was fabulous, good people person who made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
My only criticism. Despite Wild Food's allowing children, please don't take them. The experience really isn't geared for kids and it's very evident that toddlers get bored very quickly and I could see that, that could impact on some attendees experience.
That to one side, go for it; you'll learn things you didn't know!
Really enjoyable foraging course with…
Really enjoyable foraging course with Fabio at Blenheim. He explained everything in detail making it interesting and informative. Lovely meal afterwards, cooked by Fabio. Extremely well organised.

Booked this for my partner's daughter who has recently got into mushrooms and foraging. Four of us went and had the best time! I was interested to learn but didn't have any particular interest in foraging before. However, Fabio was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable that you couldn't help but take a keen interest. The course is absolutely brilliant and so varied. We walk around a small common and woodland area and even though it was the beginning of the foraging season, Fabio found so much for us to learn about and see. Giving us some elderflower tea and hogweed soup inbetween foraging was a great touch....and absolutely delicious. Cooking a meal from our foraged goods at the end was so exciting to see and really made the day! Great people and excellent company. Could not recommend more!
A highlight of our year!
We've now done two courses with this amazing company - April foraging and Autumn mushrooms. Tghe knowledge and enthusiasm these people have is second to none - merely walking with them in the countryside would be fun enough, but to be shown so many varieties of Nature's free food was eye (and jaw!) opening! Oh and the grub at the end was just fantastic!
We will be with them again next year - and ha ve already recommended threm to family and friends. THE perfect Christmas present to young and old!
Fabulous foraging fun
Spent a wonderful afternoon with my wife on the Bridgnorth (Shropshire) foraging course led by Eric who 'brought the woods alive' with his knowledge of the wild plants and fungi around. Some clear do's and don't pointers provide us with the confidence for safer next steps into this free food world. Thank you Eric for an informative and fun afternoon with some tasty treats along the way.
Highly recommended and we'll be on another course soon!
