The wifi was terrible and the unit…

The wifi was terrible and the unit requires a non-standard charger which they don't provide, and I couldn't find at the convenience stores or home centers in the area where I was staying. Horrible experience!! And three weeks after returning the unit I still have no refund. Stay away from this company.

Comparable to a scam

If i could give this company 0 stars i would do that instead. The wifibox performance is spotty. Sometimes it works, most times it doesnt. I had to have the front desk of the hotel call wifibox constantly reset the wifibox. I emailed wifibox myself, but they "couldnt find my account, so could no longer assist in my case". Funny, because on the day of return they immediately sent an email that they would be charging a late fee because the device should have been returned a DAY BEFORE I WAS TO RETURN DEVICE. dont use this company, there are better services out there.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service.

I communicated my situation which is catch-22 and asked if they can do anything that they will not charge for the extended fee but they are unbelievably INFLEXIBLE.

also the WiFi is not even fast, it was very slow. Sometimes it took over 10 seconds to open one page.

Hello Kaori,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We deeply regret to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.
Regarding your concern about the extended fee, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
As the WiFi device is a rental item, the period during which it cannot be lent to the next customer results in a loss for us.
To ensure fairness, we apply the same policy to all our customers and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.

Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will use it to enhance our services and policies. If you have any additional concerns or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware. I foolishly chose the 500mb option and booked the unit for 2 weeks. In the very first day, after just 2-4 hours of walking around Tokyo using maps, bam. Service throttled. There is no upgrade or refund option. 2 weeks paid for and wasted. Day 2 I had downloaded offline maps in my hotel and only turned on the unit on when absolutely necessary. 3 or 4 hours later, bam, service throttled. I am absolutely stuck. Cannot use for train tickets or maps or payment! Do not use this service if you need to rely on your wifi.

Hello Matt!
We would like to thank you for trusting us as your communication provider during your time in Japan, and for your input regarding the option to refund or upgrade during usage. We have forwarded this to the department in charge for future improvement.

Regarding your throttled service, we apologize for the inconvenience.

We have thoroughly investigated your case, and we found out that during those two days you mentioned, you used more than 500 MB, which made the carrier place a limit on your data service.

You used around 700 MB during your first day and around 600 MB for the other day that your internet was throttled.

Even when offline maps are downloaded, there is this possibility that app updates are turned on in the background, which could use up your data.

We hope you will trust us again as your network partner for your next trip to Japan.
Have a good day, Matt!

Probably good but couldn't find out

Probably a great product but really difficult to order and we accidentally got the UK plan for our time in Japan and wasted £75. No way to change plan or return/cancel and we only found out of our error after we collected. No help from customer service who just told me to be careful not to make the same mistake.

Hello Chris! We talked as well on Instagram and we have confirmed that our customer support agreed to refund you half of the money.

Usually, in this case, we cannot give you any refund, but travel preparation could be troublesome and we understand your feelings, so we proceeded with the above action.

But you can actually cancel your order and get fully refunded when you make a mistake! You can go to "my page" and cancel from there as long as you haven't picked up your Wi-Fi unit.

We hope you have an amazing holiday in Japan. Cherry blossoms will start flowering in a few days in Tokyo and we hope you'll still be here to enjoy that!

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Took so long to get a hold of support and the chat AI bot took my around in circles. The form submission was very lengthy and was very difficult to submit. Once I got a hold of a customer representative they informed me that despite me returning a faulty wifi box that I was not entitled to rent another for merely 2 days of the booked time I paid for, even though I already lost a full day of wifi due to the wifi being faulty. The box I had was not retaining battery power and dropped out all the time. My partner had another that was working fine. This company needs to change their policies so that faulty wifi boxes can be exchange because I wasted money and heaps of my time trying to contact support from them.

Hi Kirra,
First of all, we would like to say thank you for using our service, and for taking the time to express your voice on this platform.

We want to express our deepest apologies for your inconvenience.

We have thoroughly cross-checked your matter with our support team and analyzed your Wi-Fi device usage on our system, and we would like to inform you of the following.

1. Regarding Our AI Chatbot
We thank you for giving feedback on our chatbot.
Actually, after you choose "device failure" and enter your name, email, and order number, you will be directed to a human operator. There is this possibility that you entered anything other than asked by the form, making you return to the first bot question.
Our support team will put a measure to prevent you from returning back to the bot, so you can stay online and get connected to our agents.
Again, we apologize for this.

2. Regarding the Battery and Wi-Fi Connection
You started your rental period on November 20, and during that, we received a message from you saying that there was a problem with charging and that the Wi-Fi connection was slow.

Regarding the connection, you were renting a 500-MB plan/day, and on November 21 and 22, you used up all your data cap, so the connection slowed down.

As for the battery, we have checked your device's battery usage data on our system.
There was not any issue with the battery consumption; however, the device might have shown a different battery display than it actually has (the battery LED showed 50% while it actually still had 70-80% capacity left).
We will conduct a full check and maintenance of our Wi-Fi units for this.

Again, we are sorry for your inconvenience, and we hope we can regain your trust someday in the future.
We hope you have a nice day, and a great holiday season, Kirra.
