It was overall great

It was overall great. I genuinely enjoyed my school experience here. It is a competency-based education model, and I could take the work at my own pace. I appreciated the check-ins with my mentor and course instructors, groups, cohorts offered, tutorials, and course material. I found it user-friendly. I understand their prices reflect inflation, but I really wish the price I initially paid per semester would have remained the same for me instead of the quick increase. I found it kind of expensive after that. Graduation was a great experience overall, too! It's worth the travel.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. My wife was trying to go to wgu for the past 3 months. Their admission and financial aid departments are rude and gave us a different excuse as to why she couldn’t start (none made sense). A bunch of amateurs are operating this business. Get your crap together. We are taking our business elsewhere.

Btw: if my wife is on speaker phone with me because we are trying to figure out what the issue is, don’t tell her to take me off speaker phone- very rude. No problem signing the confidentiality but have some manners. We are out $400 for international transcripts that we were required to send. Also, your copy and paste response means nothing. Terrible!

Great experience

Great experience. As an educator with 24 years of experience, including 11 years as a classroom teacher, 5 years as a district resource teacher, and 8 years as an assistant principal at both high school and elementary levels, this program perfectly honors the knowledge we bring. I earned my MS in Curriculum and Instruction in less than one term and am about to start my second Master's Degree with WGU. I couldn't have asked for a more professional mentor. Every interaction with the staff was top-notch. Whenever I encountered issues, they were resolved quickly. Even when multiple rewrites were necessary, the professors were always available and provided actionable feedback.

Terrible Communication and cant seem to…

Terrible Communication and cant seem to properly do their job. Been trying to get started since December but they wont communicate with me.

May 2024 - While finishing up an AAS at my local CC, I applied to see what classes would transfer. I get my transcript eval back and i do not do anything else.

Dec 16th 2024 - 3 days after graduating with the AAS, I sent an email to Student Services saying that I graduated and would like to get my transcript evaluated again, and asked who i needed to talk to about that.

Dec 17th 2024 - I receive an email from Cicily, saying that my request is being transferred to the proper person and i should hear from them soon.

Dec 18th-Dec 30th - Nothing

December 30th - I reply back to the email i received stating that it had almost 2 weeks and i have not heard from anybody. I also replied from one of those automated emails from an "enrollment counselor" named James, stating that I have been waiting on an email reply to my issue from 2 weeks ago about my transcript and asked if he could help me. I also resent my transcript since noone ever answered me.

Jan 30th to Jan 4th - Still no contact

Jan 4th - I send an email to my supposed enrollment counselor Sage stating asking if my transcripts have been received as Ive been trying to get it reevaluated since Dec 15th.

Jan 9th - I finally receive an actual email from my EC, but all it stated was We didnt get your transcripts in time so your start date is being pushed to March. That pissed me off because A) I resent them a week before hand, B) I am now having to wait an extra month to start.

Jan 13th - Finally receive my updated transcript evaluation and lo and behold, they screwed it up again and did not count my certifications that I sent in for the SECOND TIME. Based of the transcript, I am having to take 15 courses instead of the 10 that i should only have to take.

Feb 3rd - I scheduled the required call with my EC Sage to get all my enrollment stuff done and they didnt not call. I waited over an hour and not a single email, text, or phone call from them, so I sent an email to the Enrollment Services saying that My EC did not show up for the scheduled call and has not made contact with me, and that I have questions that needed to be answer. I asked them the Financial Question i had and if they could unlock orientation as that was what my EC was supposed to do.

Feb 4th - Feb 25th - Never got a reply from Enrollment Services and never head from my EC. In the mean time my Financial Aid finally stop pending and was approved so that answered by first question, and only the 15th or 16th, my orientation finally opened so i got that done. I was also finally assigned my Program Mentor. So i schedule a call for February 26th at 530pm with her so i can get my schedule approved for Term 1.

Feb 26th - 530pm rolls around and i hear nothing. I wait around for the 30 mins that our appointment was supposed to last for and still heard nothing. It is current 648pm and still no contact. Ironically 30mins before the scheduled call, I received an email from her stating that people who have not scheduled a call with her need to do so immediately so that we can start on the 1st.

I am about to send her an email so i get my schedule approved as I am tired of waiting to start.

Its a terrible look for an online only school when 3 departments will not answer emails or show up for the calls that they require us to have. I only have 10 courses i need to complete, If It was higher and they werent fully covering it like they are now, I would have just quit trying to come here.

Garbage admissions department. Was lied to about admission times and submission dates. Had delays due to them lying to me and when I had everything in and completed, they didn't submit my information correctly and delayed me even longer thanks to their repeat mistakes wasting 3 months of my time in total. Thought that WGU was a better fit…

Thought that WGU was a better fit because it is supposed to be "accelerated", turns out that is a wrong assumption! Will spam someone's email to "apply" for "scholarships" that apparently do not exist, which is fraud, these so-called "scholarships" are supposed to be for those who are in ACTUALLY financial need??? Then how is it that those who ACTUALLY need them NEVER get them???? Someone HIGH up needs to contact me and to do so immediately! I have done my part WEEKS ago!!!!

EDIT: Typical canned, cut and paste BS "answer" from a third rate "school" that doesn't address the problem.

Jenni,

It depends on the specific criteria for the scholarship fund. In general, we award scholarships based on meeting the basic eligibility requirements, the quality of your scholarship application responses, financial need and some scholarships are also based upon evaluations of prior college transcripts and other academic history.

WGU evaluates scholarship applications on a continual basis because we start new students in their programs every month. Often, we are able to make an award decision within 6-8 weeks of receiving your application. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Scholarships Department at scholarships@wgu.edu.

WGU can be for you.

The course instructors all do an amazing job of making tools and resources needed for success easily available. The courses are formatted well with information presented in a logical way that aids in easy understanding. Success mentors are truly invested in you and are eager to help you succeed. Mentors offer as much or as little support as you need and celebrate every milestone with you. The self paced course life isn't for everyone but WGU does an amazing job of helping each student stay motivated and driven to achieve their degree.

WGU was an exceptional learning experience! In choosing WGU, it was important to me that the instructors were well versed in their disciplines. I am a UC graduate who valued the level of my educator's expertise which greatly enhanced my knowledge. My program mentor had a huge impact on my success because he would not allow me to compromise my educational journey because of personal and career conflicts in the process. An Amazing Self-Paced Educational Experience

I received my undergraduate degree from an online university, which provided the convenience of attaining a high-level education without commuting to a classroom. The downside was that the classes had a weekly schedule to follow. For years, I avoided starting a graduate program because I didn't have the time to attend a time-bound program. That is where WGU came in.

Last year, my wife learned about WGU from other educators, so she enrolled to complete her teaching degree. Since she enrolled, I decided to research their graduate programs and was intrigued by the self-paced aspect of the program.

You will be successful if you maintain the correct amount of competency units (CU) per six-month term (12 for undergraduate and 8 for graduate). WGU recommends students spend around 20 hours per week. I stuck to that recommendation and was able to complete my MBA in IT Management in 11 months.

This program also allowed me to take time off when I needed to. I could take a vacation without needing to worry about school. I would go hard when I could to take time off when needed or wanted.

The support was amazing as well. I almost always could make an appointment with my mentor or instructor and talk to them within 24 hours. Their mission is to ensure student success.

Each course has live webinars that you can attend. If you do not have time to attend, the instructors provide recent recordings for you to review as part of the course resource page.

With all this being said, I am the type of student who thrives on just putting my head down and getting my work done. If you are more successful and/or enjoy a more collaborative learning environment, WGU may not be for you. It is truly self-paced, without much student-to-student interaction. But the faculty is always a phone call away.

I enjoyed my experience so much that I only took a month off before diving back in to start the M.S., Management and Leadership. I highly recommend WGU to anyone who is looking to add a degree to their portfolio.

Kristi,

It’s regrettable to hear how you’ve been impacted by the change to the Meazure Learning platform. I can confidently assure you that our Assessment Services leaders take this very seriously and are working closely with Meazure Learning every day to get a resolution to the root cause(s). It is expected that service levels meet a high-quality standard of care for all WGU students. There are constant efforts being made by our Assessment team to balance student safety from privacy attacks while also ensuring academic quality within the student experience.

This feedback is incredibly important to us as we work through these concerns, and we appreciate you letting us know how we are doing.

In the meantime, it is asked that you continue to work closely with the Assessment Services team and your Program Mentor as they are working with each student on a case-by-case basis to identify who cannot move forward.

We hope to have a resolution for you soon.

Extreme PTSD from over a year of abuses; misconduct, stonewalling, irresponsible and uncaring. Facade of Support. Screamed at by staff over phone. Suspended Degree Plan to push blame onto student.

Extreme stress and PTSD acquired from my time at WGU. My money and years of my life wasted.

I'm a 4.0 Honors Student of 2 previous Colleges, Clark and Drury U, both. I've worked a long time in Education, highly successfully with multiple letters of recommendation and I started WGU years ago now to advance my degree.

I completed all of my Masters Coursework, even without help being given to me and with teachers refusing contact for sometimes weeks at a time.

I've had staff verbally abuse me, simply asking for differentiated support. I never retaliated or was rude back, but WGU blamed me and made me go through processes to surreptitiously accept blame. They harassed me for weeks with surveys and my Mentor lied to me to trick me into doing them after telling me to 'forget about it'.

They failed to secure me an Internship in half a year, even as I was trying to help them do it. I had people lined up where I worked to take me. They would not work almost at all beyond sending basic email to Districts or advocate for me and I was turned down even in the one I work in highly successfully. They also lied about contacting other districts for months, in which those districts told me, that was the case (that WGU had never, in any way, contacted them).

After 5 months of waiting, I finally accepted a site that did not correlate with my Degree Plan. Sadly, one of the classrooms was out of control and extremely unethical and unprofessional (this happens). I didn't retaliate when mocked and racially attacked, through multiple periods by the same group of kids, out loud in the classroom... the teacher thought it was funny and even made a silly little comment towards me, when her group of girls trashed me again aloud... girls who graded all of her work all day (literally 8th graders scoring packets).

The situation was so bad, and multiple staff members brushed it off and did nothing. I was so shaken I finally left towards the end of the day, and reported everything to the School District Office in detail and a group of people including my Mentor at WGU... same day. No one reached out or replied back. I blamed no one but just gave details and frustrations of the incidents all day... it was 2 days until I was contacted and farmed for information.

Over Summer 2024, I was left in the dark pertaining to any decisions made, and then ultimately blamed as my Degree Plan was suspended. I was deemed: "Unethical" and "I had left the site" and this was reason for suspending my degree plan. Everyone was getting off scot-free, using me as a scapegoat, to manipulate into taking blame. I had to request official information on this decisions as no one informed me or sent me anything intentionally. Title IX was offered and supposed to contact me, and never did. (I finally got ahold of them months later after multiple attempts).

Formal complaints and support services, in which I contacted everything and everyone I could... brushed me off or put up the usual FACADE OF SUPPORT you will encounter here on average. Lip-Service, and talking, if you get anyone responding to you at all... people do not want the responsibility here. Title IX in their investigation stated that "depts. stay in their lanes...". Soft way of saying... they don't want to get involved or help you; they want to be clean or responsibility.

A major tactic I've dealt with here, trying to get legitimate questions answered, is frequent STONEWALLING. Or, if you get a question answered, they only answer what they want and in limited ways and ignore the rest... not even escalating your questions or finding you further details or support.

You will be left in the cold and the dark, often, to alleviate themselves of any potential legal issues. As I said, they don't want to be responsible for anything... you will be to blame, always.

I was even yelled at, over and over, loudly, over the phone by an SOE Professionalism and Dispositions/Ethics personnel, as she was consistently rude in tone and felt in one call I had 'interrupted her'. This was a totally innocuous mistake and I again, was cordial regardless, after being horribly screamed at over and over, and didn't retaliate.

I've been through 3 Mentors. My 2nd one almost totally ignored me so I would stop mailing her questions. This is a common employed tactic (Stonewalling).

They only care about themselves and protecting the brand here. Even when a staff member is lazy or out of line with you, they will never apologize or take any level of blame. Most likely for legal reasons.

It's cold, it's heartless, they do not care about you. They will say they do, then do nothing.

My time and money and my dignity was abused here horribly.

I cannot even log in anymore due to extreme stress from the year... I had to leave my job for this and I'm impoverished.

Avoid this Business at all costs.
