Darren and Lewis did a great job in removing the lift. Left the home clean and tidy, answered any questions we had. Very hard working. Thank you, would definitely recommend!

After regular domestic use since its installation in 2017 the Stannah Stairlift Model 420 suffered stuttering performance for 2/3 days followed by a complete halt which prompted a call to Area HQ and a visit by "ANDY" who came the same day. He quickly determined that the electric motor was totally goosed and required replacing. Within 48 hours a re-scheduled "ANDY" arrived with a brand new motor and worked steadily into the evening despite the heatwave conditions in order to complete the required strip down, re-assembly and function test of the stairlift.
Mrs. Anderson who is the customer has severe lower limb diabetic neuropathy and coupled with a recent severe stroke hence very limited mobility and finds the lift invaluable in everyday life and wishes to thank "ANDY" ( sorry we didn't get his surname) for his dedication and hard work in this situation and to Wessex for rising to the emergency.
As Mrs. Anderson's Carer I too wish to register my appreciation for the prompt response of Wessex and its staff to what for me was a nerve wracking care situation.
Grateful regards on behalf of us both,
BWA Registered Full-Time Carer

Engineer (Alan) came late evening and was unable to fix the stairlift and had to order a new part… he came back the next morning after picking a part up and not waiting for one to come in. Went over and above to get this fixed for my elderly mum. Very friendly and did a thorough job.

Worst customer experience of my life. During aperture works to install a lift, subcontractors cut through live cables and left our disabled son room with no electricity. On contacting Wessex to get this resolved, we were told only simple works had been completed and its very unlikely their work caused the problem (8 hours work!), it must be our fault. Furthermore, if they were going to send anyone out we would likely be charged £250 as we are at fault. The subcontractors colluded with a story (untrue that we told them there no electrics in the room), and they did not want to fix their issue or believe what we were saying. Then began our nightmare trying to get them to take responsibility. This is absolutely a predatory business practice.
We chose to appoint our own electrician begrudgingly due to the rude and condescending communication from Installations. She gaslit us into thinking the issue could be us and had no choice but to get an independent electrician to not get hit by a massive charge. We had a new issue in our home caused by the works, and when asking for support were treated with hostility and asked for an incredibly high degree of proof for Wessex to do anything about it, and with a threat hanging over us. Even after our electrician proved it was damage they caused, they didn't believe us! Still refused to send anyone out or take responsibility unless we provide them with xyz! The communication would have driven most people insane. Getting accountability was like drawing blood from stone.
How did this get resolved? We had to escalate to the council TWICE, to get a date for the electrician to come back out and fix their damages. No urgency, this was going to weeks in the future. We had to escalate again. We communicated this was a safeguarding issue for our son and he was not able to move to his room for weeks, which didn't change Wessex behaviour at all. Finally they realised it was their fault once the electrician attended again.
We got our electrician charge refunded, but any compensation for the 3 weeks we had to fight tooth and nail, the very condescending and rude communication, or the new wiring (unsanctioned) we now have to live with at home? Nope. We got a stock AI response to our complaint that simply repeated all my points. Not an exaggeration, the absolute worst customer experience which deeply impacted the household.
How can a company treat its customers like this in 2026?! I think its because they work with the vulnerable they feel they can treat people in this manner without consequences or challenge, or perhaps it was because we are an ethnic minority they thought it was OK to communicate with us so rudely. Looking at other reviews of their services, where the vulnerable have been hard done and left in the lurch, Im really sad but absolutely not surprised. As others have said below, disabled people aren't stupid.
If anyone is being denied adequate services by Wessex, you do have some recourse avenues.
1. If you have contracted them through the council, escalate to the council and ask them not to release funds to Wessex. They will advocate to you and have the buying power to be heard. This broke the impasse for us.
2. Look at building regulations, and best practice. In our case, proper process wasn't followed (testing electrics). You can escalate by complaining to Business Control.
3. You can complain through consumer protection routes, such as Trading Standards UK – for negligence, unsafe work, or misleading claims.
4. If you have contracted Wessex yourself, seek claims through small claims court.
Good luck.
Lovely man , came first thing on day after reporting fault and all sorted quickly
