Purchased a Belkin Wemo Smart Plug…

Purchased a Belkin Wemo Smart Plug which has now been rendered completely unusable following Belkin’s decision to end support on 31 January 2026.
The device no longer works via Alexa, the app login fails, and even the manual on/off button no longer operates.
Attempts to contact Belkin have been extremely frustrating:
• Phone support involves excessive wait times with no resolution
• Live chat does not support Wemo products
• UK support email addresses bounce as invalid
As a result, there is effectively no way to obtain proper support or resolution.
This experience is disappointing, as consumers are left with a product that has been remotely disabled and no clear support pathway.

Wemo Out Of Business? Not Surprised.

Adopted many Wemo smart plugs into a HomeKit ecosystem years ago. Now users have received an email stating Wemo products will no longer be supported after Jan. 2026. Money down the drain.

The smart plugs worked the OK when they were first released. Over the years they had more and more problems—it was obvious the software was not being updated as there were hardly any firmware updates to the devices.

Those who bought Wemo smart home products are now left in the lurch. Reset all devices, recycle them, and delete the Wemo app.

Wemo was originally owned by Cisco. Then Belkin bought the brand. Now Belkin was bought by Foxconn. They also own Linksys. I would stay away from ALL of these brands. There are much better options out there for smart home products.

Wemo/Belkin cancelling support!

I am extremely upset and perplexed by the recent decision from Wemo/Belkin to discontinue support for older Wemo models. I recently received an email informing me that these devices will no longer be supported, with no replacement options. This means that all of the products I purchased for my home will stop functioning, forcing me to spend hundreds of dollars to replace them. I cannot understand how a company could treat its customers in this manner. For your reference, I am including their official letter below:

Hi there,

We’re sending a reminder that support for select Wemo products will end on January 31, 2026. After this date, the Wemo app and cloud-based features such as remote access and voice assistant integrations will no longer be available.

We know many of you have relied on Wemo devices for years, and we’re truly sorry this may affect your setup. To help minimize disruption, several Wemo products will still function locally through Apple HomeKit.

Products that will continue to work through Apple HomeKit:
Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way (WLS0403, WLS0503)
Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Light Switch with Dimmer (WDS060)
Wemo Smart Light Switch (WLS040)
Wemo HomeKit Bridge (F7C064)
Wemo Dimmer Light Switch (F7C059)
Wemo Mini Plugin Switch (F7C063)
Wemo Outdoor Plug (WSP090)

CX can't help through chat

I placed an order today and there was an error in the shipping address thanks to a PayPal glitch. I chatted in to their customer service team get the error fixed, and they would not assist me through chat. They couldn't update the address or cancel the offer. I accessed the offer through the web site and they also don't allow you to make updates or cancel. You have to call, wait forever on the phone, and actually speak to someone to get help. Requiring phone calls is unacceptable in 2024, and chat agents should be able to help...why do you have them if they can't? And to make things worse, god awful hold music.

Charged for a year

Charged for a year, after free trail. Did not state, that after free trail would charge a full year. When you did not get back fast enough for them. They scream for TRustpilot to take down your post. Then Of course TRustfail er pilot takes it down.
It is a scam to Say hey 3 days for free. Then OH no worries we will charge you 14 a month. BAM nope a full year. No place saying after free trail be charged for a full year. WHO THE CHRIS CRINGLES WOULD DO THAT EXCEPT A SCAMMER!
Also My time is not your time. I do not get back to things quickly. So what. This is not litigation. 3 days from when you say so. BAH. You have 3 days to respond why you have used deceptive and misleading ( SCAM) practices to con people out of money. WAIT how do I enforce a 3 day. OH I know cancel the transaction 100%.

Unreliable product

In reliable product . Sadly I have 7 devices, all stops every 2 month , I am talking by phone over 6 hours every other month , and it’s dis connected or dis appear on the app.
Notable experience with this products.
Customer service is slow and even they answer they can’t find the issues.
So I will tell you , DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCTION FROM THIS COMOANY or BRAND. Exhausted , it’s not working , don’t waste your money , time and energy. Never works .
Sorry guys in customer service.

Terrible software and dismal support

Terrible software and dismal support. Their smart switches constantly disconnect. You will have to remove them from the entire outlet many times to reconnect them. Only issues I have on my network are with Wemo devices all of my other smart devices never disconnect. App is terrible, how can I connect something to my network, it shows up on my apple home app but not detected by the Wemo app, how does that make sense? Do yourself a favor and buy smart home products elsewhere.

Betrayal of loyal WeMo customers

WeMo is owned by Belkin, which is now owned by Foxconn (a huge Taiwanese/Chinese company). They stole from old WeMo customers by no longer allowing control over a local network. You now have to set up an online account, provide access to your phone's GPS location, and go through the Internet to control the smart plugs in your house. GOODBYE WeMo, Belkin, and LinkSys!!! Never again for this old fan.

Good bye Wemo

Good bye Wemo
I have had this installed for more than 4 years, but after the latest update and the requirement for having an account, it has been difficult to get into the app. Just now, I have not been able to open the app for approx. 48 hours. It ask me to sign in and I do that but then its just hanging.
