Great advanced information including full directions. Very special property and a great alternative to run of the mill alternatives. Well equipped and very cosy with the fire on in the evenings. Nice touches with some of the treats left (chocolate, Welsh Cakes, bread, milk and cheese etc.). Definitely recommend for anyone wanting a memorable stay.

I would really recommend a stay at the Gatehouse. It's so beautiful and quirky. The information folder is really helpful and friendly. It was the perfect gift for my partner's birthday 😀.

We stayed here from 24th -27th December and had the most magical Christmas escape for 3 days.

Juliet and William have restored the gatehouse beautifully and thought of every possible thing.
When we arrived it had been decorated for Christmas and the log fire made it just perfect.

We briefly braved the roof to get a look at the amazing view and really felt as if we were in our own little castle.
We’ll treasure the memories forever and will be back for sure. Anyone thinking about this please do not hesitate - you will not be disappointed.

What a lovely, unique place to be able to stop in. From the great directions given by Juliet the property which is lovely with steep stairs, well laid out living area and even rooftop views. The goodies basket is a lovely extra.

Wow! What a fabulous place to stay! We had 3 nights in the Gatehouse, it’s an incredible experience. Juliet is a great host, everything seems to have been thought of, and the welcome pack is a nice touch and much appreciated.

One if the best location i have ever been to, so unique and beautiful. All the things that make you feel welcome, the food hamper, all the amenities you need. And we even had a lovely surprise gift for our honeymoon.

Amazing house with a soul.
Staying in Gatehouse was an amazing experience, not only the surrounding brings you already into a meditative state, but the whole house atmosphere and setup bring you exactly where you want to be. Do you want to write a book? Have some "me" time? Or having the best quiet time in 2? Everything is there.

The building is beautiful, the bed is really comfortable and we had everything we needed to have the best night.

Communication before hand was top notch and the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating.

We will 100% be coming back and are considering it for our little honeymoon break

Host provided us with detailed information from the beginning. Host was friendly over the internet which made booking with them a pleasure.

It is a beautiful historical building with great views on the castle and surroundings. I would call this location quite unique. Many sights in South Wales and Cotswolds are within easy reach.
It is an old building and getting up the stairs might be a challenge for some but the hosts are clear about that from the beginning.

We booked thru a booking platform so we did not have to pay until a few weeks in advance. Would be nice to have that booking option directly with this location.

All in all, we found the Welsh Gatehouse to be a unique gem in a lovely surrounding
We loved to stay here and we would book again whenever we are near.

Lovely, atmospheric, historic building, helpful hosts and a good pub nearby if you don't want to cook. Would highly recommend.

We’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at the Welsh Gatehouse. It is one of the most unique and charming places we’ve ever stayed in. It has original features like old stone walls, a gorgeous spiral staircase, and an accessible turret . Really like your own little castle. Yet, it also feels warm and welcoming.

The space is just right for a relaxing break. The living area is snug and comfortable. There is a fabulous log burner which sadly we didn’t need on this trip. Darn sunny days lol. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need. The bedroom in the eaves is magical - just like sleeping in your own little hideaway.

Juliet, the host, was fantastic. Communication before and during our stay was perfect. We also really appreciated the welcome basket she left for us. It was a really thoughtful touch, filled with lovely local treats.

The Welsh Gatehouse is in a peaceful spot but still close enough to Chepstow and the Wye Valley for exploring. There is also a local pub an easy walk from the property for a cheeky glass of wine or for a lovely meal. A highlight for us were the views from the top of the tower, which are just stunning.

All in all we have to say that we found the Welsh Gatehouse to be a perfect mix of history, charm and comfort. We loved it and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing break.

We stayed while exploring southern Wales and the Wye Valley. Great location, beautiful property. The room itself is charming, especially after touring local castles and ruins. FYI, the stairs are quite steep and the bed is a loft. Owners' attention to detail is impressive. An amazing experience from start to finish. Highly recommend both the Gatehouse and southern Wales!

We had a wonderful weekend at this absolute gem of a gatehouse. Really homely but quirky too! Fabulous location in a beautiful area of the UK! Chepstow, Tintern, the Forest of Dean and more are within super easy reach! The gatehouse was clean, cosy and comfortable and included everything we may have needed. Wifi was great! A smart tv would have been better but we enjoyed selecting DVDs to watch in the evening! We loved watching the sun go down from the turret and the logburner was perfect with plenty of fuel for our stay! This is a real adult 'den', can't recommend it enough. My partner loves castles and this was the perfect birthday surprise for him! Communication from the owners was excellent, very hospitable stay. Thank you!

We had a lovely few days at the Gatehouse and found the area delightful to visit. The Gatehouse is the perfect location to discover south Wales and surrounds. It is tastefully decorated and ideal for a couple looking to get away from it all.
