We completely get your point on the experience feeling a bit clunky or awkward. Bob is a new way of washing, and it can take a bit of adjustment compared to more traditional methods like using a mitt or sponge. Everyone has their own routine, so your feedback here is really valuable for us as we continue to refine the design and overall feel.

In terms of effectiveness, a lot of it can come down to technique. A quick, firm circular motion with the applicator usually helps build a solid lather before spreading, which can make the whole experience feel a lot smoother and more natural over time.

We completely understand that value is a big factor when choosing everyday products. We’re not the cheapest on the market, but we pride ourselves on using high quality, naturally derived ingredients and manufacturing our bars in Scotland, which does come at a premium.

That said, we’re always working on ways to improve value. We’ve recently introduced bundle options to help bring the cost down per bar, and we’re continuing to look at how we can make Bob more accessible as we grow. We also outlined some of the ways we're aiming to add more value in our Weekly Wash yesterday.

Ultimately, we are gutted to receive a 1 star review, as we really care about the customer experience behind the shower curtain, and we’re sorry that Bob hasn’t worked for you in the way you might have hoped.

You’re absolutely right, water type can make a difference, and in harder water areas it can take a slightly different technique to get things going. We’re really sorry to hear that you didn’t get the lather you were hoping for from the applicator.

We’ve recently upgraded our formula to deliver a richer lather and stronger scent. Because our bars are made with naturally derived ingredients (and skip sulfates), they can feel a little different from standard supermarket soaps, but we know how important a good lather is.

We’re sorry the bars didn’t last as long as you expected, and that you're experiencing some wastage at the end of your bar, we completely understand how that impacts the overall value.

Our community typically tells us that Bob bars last around 10 to 15 washes, but this can vary depending on how long you wash for and how much pressure is applied during use.

We recently introduced Bob bundles to tackle that issue. Our Bob bundle offers more refills at a discounted cost, ensuring that you have enough bars to last every month, while still saving some money in the process. With that said, we’re not the cheapest on the market, but we pride ourselves on using the cleanest and best ingredients, and manufacturing in Scotland, both of which come at a premium.

We are always trying to reduce the price where we can, but as a new start-up, it takes time to build order volume and achieve economies of scale.

On your point about the wastage. There will be a couple of mm at the end of the bar. Most people find they can continue using it by applying more pressure with the applicator, and others prefer to take the last piece out and wash with it manually.

It certainly shouldn't be half a soap's worth in the scrubber though. We'd really like to take a look at that, if you could please pop us an email to info@welcometobob.com so we can soapport you.

We’ve also recently made improvements to the formula to strengthen both lather and scent, but we completely understand that it still needs to hit the mark for you in use.

On the lather side, even in softened water it can sometimes take a bit of adjustment as Bob works differently to a traditional soap or flannel. A firm circular motion on the applicator usually helps to really activate the bar and build that lather up before applying.

We’re also sorry to hear it felt uncomfortable to use. Bob was designed to help reach those harder to wash areas more easily, but we appreciate that everyone’s experience and preference is different when it comes to how they wash.
