Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 108 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Many customers highly value the dedicated and encouraging coaches, praising their professionalism and knowledge in virtual workshops. These online sessions are often described as helpful for sharing progress and staying motivated. Some users also find the app fantastic, easy to use, and a valuable tool for tracking information. Conversely, a significant number express dissatisfaction with subscription terms, reporting being locked into lengthy contracts or automatic renewals. Many also encounter frustration with customer service, citing difficulties reaching support and unhelpful automated responses. Furthermore, a notable portion finds the updated app confusing, not user-friendly, and prone to glitches, alongside concerns about fewer in-person meetings.

Core subscription

Signed up for the 8 month core plan.Cancelled before the end of the 8 months and agree that I still pay for the next 2 months but I have also been locked out of the app despite 2 months still paying. The information available on the WW site doesn't explain that if you cancel before your subscription ends you would loose access to the app. Emailed customer services as detailed by another reviewer and received the same unhelpful response from WW.
Would not recommend WW

Frusterating experience and no customer service

I sent this email to the customer service....
Dear Weight Watchers Customer Service

I am writing regarding my subscription to the Core plan, which I signed up for on January 6, 2025. Unfortunately, I have experienced consistent issues with the app from the very beginning. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the problems, the app remains non-functional.

Here are the steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

Uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times

Logged out and back into my account

Restarted my phone and attempted the above steps again

I have also sought advice from the community group, but the suggestions provided did not resolve the issue. Unfortunately, my work hours align with your customer service phone support hours, making it difficult to contact your team directly.

The inability to use the app has made it impossible for me to track my progress, which is a core feature of the program. As a result, I feel that Weight Watchers has not delivered the service promised under the terms of the plan.

Given these ongoing issues, I request to cancel my Weight Watchers contract without penalty, as the service provided does not meet its intended purpose.

I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

The reply

All this before my 1st of 12 payments. As of today, I would not recommend this company. They do provide 24/7 help that soon refers you to call the 1800 Monday to Friday.

Signed up last year on the app

Signed up last year on the app, certain it was only 3 months. Cancelled back in may. Just checked bank statements and they've been taking payments out still. I rang and was told that I would still pay until February. Checked with others that I signed up with at the same time and theirs had stopped when they cancelled. We all went for the same one. Don't sign up, the only lbs lost are ££££

Weightwatchers UK - Poor Service

I tried to sign up to the 6.50 a month 12 month online membership yesterday with no success. Each time on submitting my payment details I get a screen saying that my payment hasn't been accepted & to check the details I have entered. I have tried using a different card but get the same result. There is no telephone number or email listed on their webpage. I googled weightwatchers UK & found an email address & tel no. I tried ringing the number but it just cut me off. I then tried emailing but have had no response. Yesterday I posted a comment on their Facebook page. I have had a reply today suggesting that I check if I have left a space when entering the postcode. So I tried again, same result. Have replied to the message on Facebook( 2 hours ago) but as yet have had no reply.Sadly now I am going to give up. This is not the Weightwatchers I remember & I would not recommend them. I would also like to point out to any prospective subscribers that it is a rolling contract that automatically renews after 12 months unless you cancel. Goodness knows how you cancel! Buyer beware!

Money grabbing with zero customer service

Signed up on line, didn't realize it was a 10 month subscription despite not getting on with it after 2 weeks. Stuck paying every single month and cannot get it cancelled as customer service is non existent. Weight watchers used to be reputable, now they couldn't care less about health their just money grabbing. I would never recommend them.

Real money grabbing tactics

Real money grabbing tactics. None of their virtual workshops are recorded so you have to go live if you want to participate. Signed up on an ‘£8 for 8 months’ offer but they don’t tell you that means if you want to cancel you are committed for the whole 8 months! It didn’t work for me with my dietary restrictions so wanted to cancel. Can’t get through to customer services via email and as I live rurally with hardly any phone signal that makes it difficult. In the end - after frustrations with both their customer service email bounce backs and their virtual chat assistant - just had to cancel payment at my end.

£8 for 8 months yet £12 after 1st month!

Signed up for an 8 month plan. £8 each month however when I put my details in and signed up it said £8 for the first month and then after £12. Absolute joke. I am a commuting student and who already has to pay £50 for petrol each month. Their payment site isn’t great! Definitely ring up if you are not happy!

Be careful what you sign up for

Signed up for 1 year and then believed that i had cancelled going forward. The company still taking the monthly payment even though i have not used the app whatsoever. Noticed on my credit card that the monthly payment is still going out. I had to reload the app to try and cancel which took most of the morning, but eventually did so. I phoned customer services on Monday who basically blamed me saying that i had not cancelled it. They do not monitor usage or advise when a payment is being taken (unlike Slimming World).

All about taking your money

I signed up December last year haven't used it but had to keep it for 11 months finally got it cancelled today. I would never have signed for 10 or 11 months if it was made clear although this month they took £18.95. I will never use them again ever by going to a class or the app all they are about is making money from you. So many better Apps and groups out there give them a try first.

not happy with the new format

I’m not particularly happy with the new format - it doesn’t give any incentives or have any colours that indicate you’re doing well, so the motivation just isn’t there anymore. It worked for me last year and I dropped nearly a stone, but I’ve just put it all back on and now the app is harder to use I really can’t shift it again. I also found the tracking really poor because it puts way too many points on foods that are actually good for you, so it makes you feel bad that your daily points are taking up by one meal that is objectively healthy and good for you.

Give weight watchers a go

Thanks to Helen at World of Golf Clydebank weight watchers class. I was sceptical at first as I tried many diets and they never worked .....I had lost a few pounds here or there and didn't manage much more . I'm aware I'm menopausal and would be hard to loose. Then I joined weight watchers and I'm manging to loose weight I really enjoy my eating and food choices now, especially the new energy I have. I haven't been going long but in a few short weeks I'm managing to eat healthy and loss weight which is better for health and well being. There sint food I can't have bit I manage my diet much more effectively

Cancelation Problems, Will Never Use Again

Only signed up as it said could cancel at anytime. Tried to cancel, but will keep charging me. App told me how well I was doing when I hadnt done anything. Complete farce. Complain to Trading Standards about cancellation. This is not the first time they have had to change advertisement as it was inaccurate.. get a new bank card, different number, they cant take the payment..

Absolutely shocking diet

Absolutely shocking diet! A pot of porridge (under 200 calories) is considered a third of my daily points?! How? They seem to really demonise carbs which is an incredibly unhealthy approach to any long term lifestyle change…after tracking for a few days I decided to enter my food into a calorie counter and realised I was seriously under eating and yet on the WW app I’d used not only my daily points by some weekly points too…all because any kind of carb (rice, pasta, porridge) or fats (avocados etc) are highly pointed. Unable to talk to an actual human via email and stuck in a 6 month contract despite how awful this diet is!
I could 100% lose weight with this diet but it won’t be teaching me anything that I can continue forward for years to come…it will literally just be teaching me ‘carbs’ are too many points to fit into my day!

customer service is poor

customer service is poor, try asking a question using the online form
and mention the word cancellation in the question, despite that not being the question

and you get the same 'automated' response each time
why offer this sort of service.

I cancelled this 2 years ago and for no reason started to get charged a monthly fee last week. I never signed up again or gave consent to use my details. Now have to claim back the work with credit card company. Total scam.

Having used weight watchers in past for groups, my current circumstances meant online would suit me better however wish I had seen reviews before signing up. I made sure it said I could cancel plan if didn’t suit, found since I can cancel plan but will still be charged for another 11m months. App is not great n didn’t like meal plans.
