I am from the United States but have been living in Mexico for almost nine years. I use WhatsApp to text with and call my sister in the U.S., friends in Nicaragua, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay, as well as with a few businesses. I have Whats for the web, and it's on my phone. I also participate in family groups and lead an English Mastery group.

I have literally never had a problem with WhatsApp. I can recall only one outage in the 10 years that I've been a WhatsApp user. The messaging app is fantastic, as is the quality of the audio during calls.

Possibly, some people expect their personal WhatsApp to resemble a Facebook timeline, but that's neither what it is not what it aspires to be. As a messaging app it's near perfect.

The three star rating is only because WhatsApp hasn't been en$h!ttified (yet) to a similar level of Facebook's (not gonna bother calling them by their new name) other money machines (FB, FB messenger, Insta).

As a chat service, yes, it does what it's supposed to and works fine. It is annoying though when moving between phones that you have to figure out how to disable the stupid feature that saves all photos sent by contacts to your phone's storage.

Their mobile app has horrible flaws such as common updates that ruin the user interface by either repositioning on-screen buttons that didn't need moving or adding in useless features (a la Instagram).

I'm honestly surprised that there aren't ads in the mobile app, knowing how predatory WhatsApp's owners are.

Whatsapp have banned me and put a hacker in charge of my account.
The hacker now operates freely on whatsapp contacting my family and friends asking them for money.
After 14 years, I left everything to the hacker and whatsapp to do as they please.
I was depressed but picked myself up.
Hacker has tried to access my facebook and instagram but failed.
Whatsapp banned me for tring to get back control of my account. I was banned from sending an email.
Hacker is now in charge of my account, Olwadare Olarewaju running it from Nigeria, a country I have not visited in 6 years.

Diabolical customer service,my wife received a WhatsApp message from a friend (which turned out to be from a scammer)stating that she was awaiting for a code but gave my wife’s contact details by mistake ,and asked if my wife could send the code onto her.When my wife received the code she took a screenshot and forwarded back,as she thought she was sending it to her friend (in reality she had sent it to the scammer).Afterwards ,when she realised that something was wrong with her WhatsApp account ,she deleted and reloaded the App but this makes no difference and she is unable to log into her account.
She has spent the last few day sending messages to WhatsApp appealing to them for help but all she gets is ,what appears to be ,a computer generated reply which requires her to be logged into the account ,which she is asking to be restored!This is frustrating as WhatsApp is the only affordable way to keep in touch with our children and she is considering changing her phone number of 20 years ,with all the hassle that entails.How can WhatsApp not be concerned that their security system can so easy be accessed, and how come they care so little about their customers,that they
Don’t even reach out by phone to a customer sending them multiple help requests?

After 14-15 years of using the WhatsApp, for last week, I’ve been totally locked out of my account with no support to get me back in. After finally getting in touch with Customer Service, only after I wrote this horrible review, I’ve learned that there is a bug that, they are aware of, and they’re trying to fix, but until then I am left locked out and awaiting resolution with no access to my messages personal and business. Update: over a week now, I’m still waiting!

I reluctantly joined whatsapp at the request of family members when they were abroad as it looked like it was a cheaper way to communicate.
To be fair the exchange of messages, photos & calls seemed to work well at first.
Regrettably though what it's now morphed into is a nightmare 'free for all' of crackpot sales calls including recruitment agencies from over 17 years ago. I am now getting an almost daily bombardment of unwanted excrement from over 30 countries, no matter how many blocks or privacy terminations I put on the wholly ineffectual internal controls. This has become yet another annoying service completely beyond any fitness for purpose.

the web version is trash. application is good works okayish, but the web version is trash. Doesnt open, cant use it in an emergency, takes so much time, keeps loading and crashing . worst

Initial download and install works perfectly - app is functional no problems. The issue occurs when you want to transfer chats etc to a new device - there is a built in transfer chats function which only works on Android 6 or higher but when you try to use it from an Android 7 device it tells you your phone does NOT meet the minimum requirement - go figure.....Restore chats from backup doesn't work either - on the new Android phone when you install WhatsApp and open it for the first time it skips straight over the Restore option that their webpage talks about - in summary the app works fine on the original phone but when switching devices you will lose all your chat history - poorly designed app - would expect better from a crowd like Fakebook

I was informed that this isn't social media. Well yes it is. Supposedly all messages are encrypted for safety but a "certain amount" of information goes to Meta, who also own Facebook. No doubt most of the user info goes straight to that social media monster. There may be 2 billion users, it's free, but I wouldn't go near it. Use text group messaging, much better. Don't give your info to these people.
To add. A question for all you users who use this: How do you think it makes any money? It no doubt sells your information on via Facebook. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Awful, randomly blocked our business account for no reason, impossible to get hold of anyone to get this sorted.
