All I was trying to do was make a mining gateway for n m miners, the little u s b.Miners to actually earn paper share or pay per lucky share while piggybacking off of a big pool, and there are terms will not allow any kind of cryptocurrency, which is b.S it's my website, I should be able to do what I want. And I already spent money on this, and would love a refund

Misleading scammers.
They will give you credit to test out their platform while asking for payment details, then start silently accumulating charges for services you have not used, cancel your credits without informing you, and charge you without notice
I preferred to cancel my account immediately rather than risk another invoice out of nowhere for services I never used

I haven't used Vultr in ages and they keep sending me invoices for services I never actively use. No easy way to stop it, no clear account deletion option — just endless billing emails. Terrible experience for someone who simply wants to close their account and move on. Would not recommend.

Deceptive Pricing & Ignored Support - Avoid Vultr!
I am extremely disappointed with Vultr. I deposited $5 to use their GPU services, only to find out AFTER paying that they require a hidden $50 deposit which was not mentioned upfront. This is a classic "Bait and Switch" tactic.
I have already opened a support ticket (#PNG-53WDA) and reached out multiple times, but I’ve been ignored for over 5 hours during their official business hours. Don’t reply telling me to "contact support" because I already did and you are ignoring me.
As a content creator with 100k+ subscribers, I will make sure my community knows about these unfair practices. I want my $5 refunded immediately and my account closed.

I had a very disappointing experience with this service.
After spending a significant amount of time setting everything up, my account was suddenly blocked. The reason given was that I refused to provide a photo of my credit card for verification.
Requesting a photo of a credit card is not an acceptable or secure verification method. This raises serious concerns about data protection and compliance with basic security standards.
I offered alternative ways to verify my identity, but instead of providing a reasonable solution, the service restricted access to my account.
If this is the only verification method they offer, I cannot recommend this service to anyone who values security and professional standards.
I requested a refund and will be switching to another provider.

i am giving 2 starts only because teh support is super responsive but the main thing i didn't like is they offer you a 250 usd credit wich is good until you relise you are limited to 50 usd per instance max per month, they claim it antifraud policy i am sorry but many devalopers such as myself need much powerful instance to test our apps or systems it's not my problem you dealing with frauds it's normal i have to test out the instance quality at the requiments i need before i fully comit to you and it waste of my time to wait 30 days so you finally belive i am not fraud and your raise the limit this is not the way how to treat new costumers a huge dispointment

Terrible service. Unreliable and non existent support. Attitude to customers is also horrible. Paid for a VPS ubuntu server and my account got closed without any notification or explanation whatsoever. Shameful shady hosting, can't recommend to anyone. I wish I checked reviews before ever going to their website, less than 2 stars, lol

I had a terrible experience with Vultr. Their service feels extremely unfair and borderline like a scam.
They initially gave me $300 in promotional credit, but after just one day they suddenly removed the entire credit without any clear explanation. Shortly after that, they charged my credit card $200.
What makes things worse is that right after charging my card, they restricted my account and limited my usage to only $1 per month, which basically means my account is effectively banned.
Now my account still shows a $200 balance, but I can’t actually do anything with it. I’m unable to deploy any servers or use the service at all.
This situation makes no sense — they took my money but blocked my ability to use the platform. I’m extremely disappointed and would not recommend this service.

Servers went down in Sydney & Melbourne for days which left me no choice but to move to another (cheaper & faster) VPS service.
Once I had moved to the new VPS, I stopped the server & made a formal request to cancel all services and close my wife's account in mid Dec '25 via a support ticket. Apparently that was not enough!?! In March 26 she asked me what these "VULTR" charges on her credit card were about. They had taken 3 more months of payments. I was livid. Speachless.
There were no follow up emails from the ticketing system that would have informed me that they had not closed the account, but that it was up to me to do it.
Very sneaky.
Don't like those sort of tactics.
Support was never very good.

I was accepted into the free tier and launched a small cloud instance that was supposed to be completely free. Before deploying it, I carefully checked every option to make sure the total cost was $0.00.
The next day I got a bill for over $5.
When I tried to check what happened, I couldn’t even access the billing details because my account had already been locked for non-payment. So the only way to see what I was supposedly being charged for was to pay first.
After paying, the invoice finally showed the reason: a "NAT Gateway" that had somehow been added to my account. That cost was not included anywhere in the total shown during the deployment of the supposedly free instance. Adding a paid service without clearly informing the user is a fraudulent practice, plain and simple.
After paying, I immediately deleted everything related to the instance and contacted support to permanently delete my account.
Then, unsurprisingly, support decided to "review" my account and suddenly I was told I owed another $7. Let me be clear: my pending balance was $0 right after I paid the first invoice.
At that point I just paid it without even asking what it was for. I simply wanted to close the account and be done with this.
This company operates in Europe but clearly has no idea about the regulations they’re supposed to follow. On top of the shady billing practices, you cannot even delete your own account and data yourself. There’s also no way to review the billing information you provided when creating the account.
Any company that needs to rely on tricks like this to squeeze a few dollars out of users while offering a mediocre service is not worth your time or trust.
Stay away from Vultr and keep your data far from these thieves.

Their practices seem particularly questionable to me, let me explain:
- They charged $1 in less than 48 hours of use (for a 10$/month package it seems weird) while I used to run my work on another VPS way less expensive than that, which seems inconsistent with the actual usage.
- An inconsistent verification process that takes place only AFTER payment, server creation, and activation.
- The initial request for sensitive documents (a photo of my passport and my credit card), which I provided immediately, followed by additional requests that I consider burdensome and intrusive (picture of me holding my credit card + full description of my uses, if not, they cut my access in 48 hours... WTF).
=> I fully understand the need for compliance and verification procedures. However, it would seem more coherent and transparent for such verifications to take place before any billing occurs. It seems all they care about is money then they pretend to make checks of the account and seem to easily block users (obviously with no refund).
I felt no more confident continuing this contractual relationship with Vultr so I stopped and wasted $10.

This is my first time ever registering with Vultr. I did not use any promo codes or try to abuse any bonuses. I created a clean, legitimate account for my business and deposited $100.
Shortly after registration, Vultr support requested my identity documents for verification. I provided everything they asked for. They replied that they had reviewed the documents, and everything was fine.
However, less than 24 hours later—right after I finished installing Dokploy on my VPS—they suddenly banned my account without any explanation. They are now refusing to reopen the account and, more importantly, they are keeping my $100 deposit for services they never provided.
How can a reputable company verify a user's documents, accept their money, and then terminate the service the very next day without a refund? This is a scam. They are literally stealing funds from new users.
I am now forced to initiate a chargeback through my bank and report this incident to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). To all business owners: avoid Vultr at all costs. They will waste your time and steal your money.

Horrible. they are a data broker in disguise - let you waste time making the VPS then a week later demand Gov ID . this should be collected at the time of sign up- clear bait and switch tactics.

SMTP block with no real review process
I set up a Vultr VPS to host my personal website, a Git repository, and a mail server (OpenSMTPD) for my own domains. All I needed was basic outbound SMTP to forward personal emails to my Gmail account — a few emails per week at most. No marketing, no newsletters, no bulk mail. Just one person, one server.
I submitted a detailed unblock request explaining all of this. The response was a canned rejection saying my use case was "not compatible with their platform," followed by a recommendation to use third-party email services.
A personal mail server forwarding a handful of emails per week is not compatible with their platform? That tells me the review process is just theater — they blanket-ban SMTP and deny everyone regardless of the request.
If you have any interest in self-hosting email, save yourself the time and go with a provider that actually allows basic internet protocols. I've since migrated elsewhere and won't be back.
Part 2: The bad experience continues. There was a bug in Vultr's FreeBSD image that cause one of my scripts to use 100% usage for a short about of time. Vultr has had my VPS CPU-restricted for about a week now, despite that I quickly fixed the issue and my VPS has been sitting close to 0% usage for a week.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Support is terrible and they are very hostile towards their customers.
I can't wait until I migrate away from this nightmare.

we have been using vultr in company for a couple of years, but today saw article "Tencent enlisting American cloud hosting providers to enforce censorship"
it is could computing company, and american one, should take censoring and law seriously
As they say there one of the best server provider, they do not have live chat support. I have submitted the ticket but they have not replied yet, as its been 4 hours. It took me more than 3 days to simple server setup process and still not completed.

I signed up for Vultr because of the $250 promotional credit. After completing account verification, the credit disappeared the next day without any clear explanation. It showed up initially, then suddenly it was gone as if it never existed.
There was no warning, no email, and no transparent reason provided. This feels very misleading, especially for new users who sign up specifically because of the advertised credit.
I understand companies have rules, but removing promotional credit without clear communication is not professional. It creates confusion and distrust.
I would advise new users to be very careful and not rely on promotional credits unless everything is clearly confirmed in writing.

⭐⭐ Misleading latency claims for Tokyo
Vultr support tested latency from their TY6 datacenter showing
0.14ms to AWS Tokyo - impressive!
Problem: After 4 bare metal deployments, ALL landed in TY11
with 2.7-4ms latency (20x worse). Support confirmed:
- No way to select TY6 location
- No plans to increase TY6 capacity
- No notification when TY6 available
They test from infrastructure customers can't access.
Wasted hours and money testing servers that all landed
in the same slow location.
For low-latency Tokyo hosting, look elsewhere.

REMOVE ALL YOUR SAVED CARDS YOU HAVE ON FILE BECAUSE THEY WILL CHARGE YOU RANDOM AMOUNTS WITHOUT YOUR KNOWING, AND REFUSE TO GIVE A REFUND.
HOW THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS IS BEYOND ME.
