Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 150 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the company's subscription practices, particularly regarding the cancellation of "lifetime" memberships without prior notice or explanation. Customers also reported issues with the service itself, finding it unreliable and often not working as expected, especially with streaming services. The customer service was frequently described as unresponsive and unhelpful, leaving many feeling ignored and frustrated. The primary concern for many customers revolved around the company's decision to revoke lifetime subscriptions after an acquisition, with people feeling that the company failed to honor previous agreements. This led to a strong sense of betrayal and a lack of trust in the company's commitment to its customers.

Utterly flabbergasted

This was already the slowest and poorest VPN, but the new company decided to enter into very dodgy territory. They chose to cancel subscription plans they didn't like, from their side without offering any form of compensation (other than some "new good deals" which they will probably cancel just as well if they decide they do not like it)- they are looking for ways in grey legal area to maximise profit while utterly neglecting consumers because and in their own words "that’s literally what the legal structure allows." This is by far the saddest excuse I have ever heard in my life, no form of empathy or responsibility to be expected from this company.

We understand that this situation has been frustrating, especially for former lifetime plan holders, and we appreciate you sharing your opinion.

However, we would like to clarify a few important points.

The current VPN Secure operation acquired the assets of the previous company through an asset-only transaction over a year ago. The prior entity that sold those lifetime subscriptions no longer operates, and those agreements were never transferred to the new ownership.

While we understand some people disagree with the legal structure of such acquisitions, describing it as “dodgy” or “grey legal area” is simply inaccurate. Asset acquisitions are a standard and legitimate business process used worldwide.

That said, despite having no obligation to do so, we still provided extended access periods and discounted transition offers to affected users in an attempt to soften the impact of the previous company’s collapse.

As for performance and service quality, we know there is still room for improvement and we continue investing in infrastructure, applications, and support responsiveness. Constructive criticism helps us improve, even when strongly expressed.

We genuinely regret that your experience with both the old and new versions of the service left you disappointed, and we wish you the best moving forward.

I am another lifetime subscriber with VPNSecure.me, who finds his VPN service discontinued with the excuse it was bought so won't honor it. I wonder if there will be a class action at some point.....

We understand how frustrating this situation is, especially for customers who originally purchased a lifetime plan.

To clarify, the current company operating VPN Secure acquired the assets of the prior business through an asset-only transaction. That means no liabilities or previous commercial agreements, including lifetime plans, were transferred to the new entity. The company that originally issued those lifetime subscriptions no longer exists.

Even though we had no legal obligation to honor those historical plans, we did offer extended access and transition options to affected users in order to provide time and alternatives. Many customers were able to continue service under those arrangements.

We appreciate that this is disappointing, and we respect your right to feel that way. However, the responsibility for the original lifetime commitments rests with the former company that sold them.

Slow Servers, Weak Support — Avoid VPNSecure

I used ** VPNSecure** for a while, and honestly my experience was disappointing on multiple levels.

The first issue I encountered was the poor quality of the servers. Connections were unstable, with frequent drops, and speeds were significantly slower compared to other VPN services I’ve tried. At times browsing became frustratingly slow, and latency was high even when connecting to geographically nearby servers.

The number of available servers also felt limited, and the actually usable ones were even fewer — many appeared overcrowded or simply underperforming. I also had trouble accessing services that a VPN should normally help bypass restrictions for.

Customer support was one of the worst aspects of the experience. It took more than a week to receive a response to my inquiry, and when I finally got one, it was generic, unhelpful, and didn’t address the issue at all. There was no meaningful follow-up or attempt to resolve the problem, which gave the impression that user concerns aren’t taken seriously.

The application itself needs improvement. I experienced recurring glitches, and sometimes it failed to connect without any clear explanation. The interface isn’t terrible, but it lacks advanced configuration options and fine control that technical users would expect.

Other drawbacks include:

* Noticeable system resource usage
* Lack of transparency regarding server status or outages
* Delays when initiating connections
* Infrequent or unclear updates
* Overall value that doesn’t justify the cost compared to alternatives

In summary, the experience was unsatisfactory, especially for anyone seeking stable performance and responsive support. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this service.

Hi there 👋

First of all, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. If we handed out medals for structured feedback, you would at least get silver 🥈

Now let’s address the serious stuff behind the jokes.

If you experienced unstable connections, slow speeds, and overcrowded servers, that is absolutely not the standard we aim for. Performance can vary depending on location, ISP routing, and selected protocol, but constant drops or high latency on nearby servers is something we would want to investigate properly.

Regarding support taking over a week to reply, that one hurts. We try to respond much faster than that. A delayed and generic answer is not the experience we want anyone to have. If that happened, it means we dropped the ball and we would genuinely like to look into that ticket.

As for:

• Server transparency
• App glitches
• Resource usage
• Connection delays
• Advanced configuration

Fair points. Some of these are actively being improved, especially around infrastructure monitoring and client stability. We are not pretending to be perfect. We are constantly upgrading the network and app stack, and feedback like yours is actually what helps prioritize fixes.

One thing we would really appreciate: if you are open to it, contact us directly at support with “Trustpilot follow-up” in the subject line. We would like to:

Check which servers you were using

Test routing from your region

See what went wrong with your ticket

Offer a proper resolution

No canned response. No robot. A real human.

We may not be flawless, but we do care. And we would much rather fix the issue than have you leave feeling frustrated.

Thank you again for the honest review. If nothing else, you gave us a very clear roadmap of what to improve 🙏

Bought a lifetime membership in 2016 or…

Bought a lifetime membership in 2016 or so and had my membership pulled in April 2025 because the company was bought by another company that apparently didn't do due diligence and claims they were unaware of the lifetime memberships. Avoid these people like the plague. They cannot be trusted to honor promises.

We understand why this situation feels frustrating. The lifetime plans you mention were sold by the previous company many years ago. Our acquisition of VPN Secure was asset-only, which means no prior commercial agreements or liabilities were transferred, and all users, including non-lifetime customers, had to establish new subscriptions under the new entity.

Despite this, we provided extended access and transition options to affected users in good faith. Our focus since the acquisition has been to operate a sustainable and secure service with clear terms going forward.

VPN Secure Sold Out on Customer Trust

TL;DR The original VPN Secure got bought out, but the new owners sold out. Skip this VPN service if you want something secure and trustworthy.

I had bought a lifetime membership. It was, honestly, a great deal in an age where so much is either shitty shovelware or freemium subscription. I pad a good amount of money for something I only very occasionally used and it provided me with stable and trustworthy service. Until the new owners came along and basically ripped up our deal unilaterally.
I read their reasoning (communicated retro-actively and very passive aggressively): a 3-person business with high operating costs. Well, I am sure it is tough to run a small business with legacy contracts that you are entrusted with honoring, but guess what: that's what you have to do if you are in a trust-based business.
With all the VPN services out there, why would I renew a contract with a party that has already breached my trust? In fact, why would anyone enter into a contract with a VPN service that cannot honor its deals.

We respect your perspective and appreciate you sharing it in detail. The situation around legacy lifetime plans was complex and not taken lightly. Our acquisition of VPN Secure was asset-only, and continuing those historical agreements indefinitely was not viable under modern infrastructure and security requirements.

To act in good faith, we provided extended access and transition options to affected users, despite having no obligation to do so. Our priority since the acquisition has been to operate a sustainable, secure service with clear and transparent terms going forward.

We understand if you choose a different provider and wish you the best.

It's a fine service that does what it says it does. Like many others, I had a lifetime agreement. Lifetime agreements are a ridiculous thing to offer from a saas company. So am I bummed that they change the rules? of course. Did I think that it would last even a 1/10th this long? Not at all.

Stay Away from VPNSecure and the new owners InfiniteQuant Ltd

I'm not questioning the legality of what you did. I'm questioning the issue of doing the next right thing. Anyone reading these reviews should take note of the squirming around and explaining why a commitment was not kept and why due diligence wasn't done before buying the thing to know what commitments have been made. Regardless of the experience those of us who had been given the commitment have had, anyone reading these reviews and trying to decide which VPN to use should take note of what happened in the past. It's an indicator of what will happen in the future. I would suggest moving on as I have done.

In reply to VPNSecure's reply:
Please do not blame those of us who were promised a lifetime experience for your lack of due diligence. If you could not make it work, you should not have bought the service.

First, I purchased a lifetime license for VPNSecure. When InfiniteQuant Ltd bought VPNSecure, the company did not honor what it had bought; it surely knew the agreements it had made, and if it did not wish to honor the commitment, it should not have purchased the company. The company did extend the license for three years, but after that, payment would be required. After all that, problems with the service began. After closing the app, it was impossible to reopen it. After years of working flawlessly, it suddenly started failing. I corresponded with support, and that was a miserable experience. Among other things, the support person had never heard of Revo Uninstaller and claimed using it had "destroyed the app." I have never had a worse interaction with support. I have cancelled the renewal set for three years from now and downloaded another VPN that works.

They may get their act together one day!

Well, they have moved on from their last fiasco to a smaller new one.

I guess to try and regain the trust of some of the old lifetime members (and an addition income stream) they have offered some reactivation pricing available until the end of this month.

They can't even get this right as the 1 year pricing provided in the email is not the 1 year pricing shown on the website when you go to sign up. I noticed this a few weeks back and mailed their support team, but have not received a reply.

Dishonest company masquerading using…

Dishonest company masquerading as an honest company with positive reviews using all of the assets and reviews of the original company they purchased on their website (meaning the VPN•Secure website, not TrustPilot) as if they are current, accurate, and honest reviews reflective of the new owners. All of which are conveniently 5-Star reviews which predated the change in ownership.

I don't need to rehash any of the previous reviews made by other users, there's hundreds of others saying what doesn't need to be repeated.

We get it, you don’t need another rehash of what’s already been said.

But just to be clear: the reviews you see on Trustpilot were never “bought” or imported by us. They’re the historical reviews tied to this brand since day one, and Trustpilot doesn’t allow them to be erased just because of an ownership change.

We know the history weighs heavily against us, and we’re not pretending otherwise. All we can do is show up under the same brand name, take the hits, and try to rebuild.

The service was bad before the takeover

The service was bad before the takeover, zero customer service, and an ever dwindling number of servers. Now my account (like many others) has been officially closed and the first I get to know is today via what I would call a chirpy & sarcastic everything's still rosy email, that tells me they're closing my lifetime paid upfront account, yet also doing me a big favour whilst asking me to pay again for a service I'd already paid for. I deem my old contract to still be valid and they are in breach of that contract, so no way would I want to accept new payment terms that'd then form a new contract, relieving them of all previous obligations. Before they reply to me on here in their scratched record technique to feebly attempt damage limitation, I am stating some facts: Lifetime means lifetime, and the repetition of "we've honoured lifetime deal customers for 2 years" quite frankly doesn't wash. In that case start again from scratch guys, I guess you'll change the name soon enough if you don't go bust. They acquired the assets in 2023 and continued to use the same company name, provide the same service, same software and rely on the same paying customers then clearly they bought the business as a going concern warts and all. This is simply the new owner's way of trimming unwanted inherited costs, probably when it goes bad it'll then become a tax write off. Customer trust is essential in their industry and they've blown it, and they probably realise that. I do get their argument in one sense but LTDs were part of the customer base which they must have known about as all users have to log in with user names and passwords... so there's a database of everyone on their system along with payments etc. Saying there's no records of the lifetime deals is rubbish, we all log in and the days tick down on the interface so they knew alright... No amount of "we're owning this" is going to restore that damaged trust, it sounds just like they're using the politician's repetition technique of "we've inherited an economic black hole", it's not our fault, tough decisions have to be made, so hand over more money to keep what you've already paid for. Luckily I moved away to another provider a while back because I had a gut feeling things were getting bad and I was right, still it's the principle. For me, this company is on a par with 99% of politicians as far as promises and trust is concerned. It seems they'll then offer a reply, using bad reviews to repeat their same old lines, it's not fooling anyone, not winning them any new business, and it's certainly not going to ameliorate the situation. Basically I translate it as "oh yes, saying we get it, but basically tough luck anyway because we honestly couldn't care less... bye" A great way to rebuild, or should that be build back better?

We hear you. You’re right that trust is essential in this space, and we know we’ve lost yours.

The truth is simple: we bought assets only in 2023, not contracts or LTD obligations. We chose to keep those accounts active for two more years at our own expense before shutting them down. That doesn’t make it feel fair to you, and we get that.

This company probably will and deserves to go bust

It's completely unacceptable that my 'lifetime' subscription was cancelled without a single word of notice. This isn't just poor customer service—it's a deceptive and disrespectful business practice. The company has completely destroyed the trust of its long-term customers. Given the growing number of one-star reviews and the valid criticisms across many platforms, it’s clear that their reputation is suffering. They created this situation, and it seems likely that this kind of business conduct will lead to them not lasting much longer.

Broken promises and no accountability

I purchased a lifetime subscription to VPN Secure through a reputable deal site, expecting that "lifetime" meant what it said. After using the service for a while, I recently received an email stating that all lifetime accounts were being shut down due to a change in ownership. No meaningful compensation was offered, just a "special discounted" plan that essentially asks me to pay again for a service I already bought.

This is not how you treat customers. If the original deal was unsustainable, that’s a business issue—customers should not bear the cost of poor planning or mismanagement. Ownership changes do not void customer agreements. The fact that they chose to cancel all lifetime accounts instead of honoring prior commitments shows a complete lack of integrity and accountability.

This is especially frustrating because many people, like me, bought this deal in good faith. Now we’re being told that the deal just no longer exists, and our only option is to pay more.

Avoid this company if you care about long-term trust or keeping what you paid for. They’ve shown they can change the rules at any time and leave you with nothing.

I purchased a lifetime subscription…

I purchased a lifetime subscription from VPN Secure in good faith, only to discover they abruptly terminated all Lifetime accounts as of April 28, 2025. When I contacted them, they gave a prepared response saying the company was sold in 2023, and that the new owners only acquired the technology, domain, and customer database — but not the legal obligations, including Lifetime Deals.

They will probably respond to this review with the same explanation, claiming they generously gave users two extra years of access “out of goodwill” and that similar things happened when companies like MyHeritage acquired Geni.com.

But let’s be clear — these claims don’t hold up:
✅ If they acquired the customer database, used it to send marketing emails, and continued operating the service under the same brand, they inherited the value created by customers, including paid Lifetime accounts.
✅ Selectively inheriting only the profitable parts while discarding obligations is not only unethical but may violate consumer protection laws, depending on the jurisdiction.
✅ The comparison to other companies doing the same does not make it legal or fair — it just shows this practice unfortunately happens in the industry.

In short, they used our money to build the business, then invalidated the agreements when convenient. I strongly recommend avoiding VPN Secure if you care about fair treatment and honoring commitments.

They are extremely anti-consumer and will try everything to get you to pay more.

They cancelled our lifetime licenses. That's not how lifetime licenses work.

They claim to only have bought "assets", but cleary have kept the subscription costumers.

They also make contradicting claims to wiggle out of any responsibility. First they say the change is now because they just found out about the lifetime licenses. Then they claimed to have "graciously" allowed us for two more years. You can't have it both ways.

And to top it off, there is some marketing rep replying to all these reviews, saying dumb stuff to try to fix it.

The ONLY fix you can do, is to honor the lifetime licenses that were already sold or refund them.

We’re not here to sugarcoat it: this was a tough call we had to own. We didn’t sell the LTDs, didn’t get the money, but still kept them active for two extra years while rebuilding everything from the ground up.

That’s not “gracious” — just what we thought was fair given the mess we inherited. You disagree, and that’s fair too.

No excuses. Just a team still showing up, day after day, owning the fallout.
