Formal Complaint – Unacceptable Delay, Lack of Communication, and Urgent Request for Resolution

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the handling of my vehicle by Volvo West London Endeavour.
Despite contacting multiple members of staff and senior management — including Miss Ella Gromley, Mr Shersa Ahmedzai, Mr Russell Hilsum, Mr John Caney, Mr Andrew Shackleton, Mr Alex Murkett, as well as the Volvo UK Customer Service Line — no satisfactory resolution has been provided. If you need, I can share all emails

My vehicle displayed an “Electronic Park Brake Issue” warning in January 2026. I contacted Volvo West London Endeavour and was given a service appointment for 3 February 2026. I delivered my vehicle on 2 February 2026, in good faith, expecting timely diagnosis and repair.

However, the situation has become completely unacceptable:

Excessive Delay

It has now been 7 weeks since my scheduled appointment date, and the diagnostic and repair process has not even started. My vehicle has not been taken into the workshop and remains parked outside. Waiting 7 weeks without any progress is entirely unreasonable.

Lack of Communication

Despite sending numerous emails and making repeated calls, I have received no clear update regarding when my vehicle will be inspected or repaired. This lack of communication is extremely frustrating and unprofessional.

Failure to Provide a Courtesy Vehicle

I have clearly explained that my son has diagnosed autism and ADHD, and that a vehicle is essential for our daily life — including school transport, therapy sessions, medical appointments, and social activities. Despite making this situation clear, no courtesy car has been provided. I can share doctor result reports, school reports

This situation is now having a serious impact on my family’s daily life. I find it unacceptable that, despite my patience and repeated attempts to resolve this matter, no practical support or timeline has been given.

I am therefore requesting the following as a matter of urgency:

Immediate confirmation of when my vehicle will be taken into the workshop

A clear and realistic timeline for diagnosis and repair

Provision of a courtesy vehicle without further delay

Kind regards,

Absolutely outstanding service from…

Absolutely outstanding service from Lily Dean at Riverside Volvo Hull. From the first moment we spoke she was professional, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the Volvo cars. Nothing was too much trouble and she made the whole process smooth, straightforward and enjoyable.

Lily kept me fully informed throughout and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect even ensuring that the Humber bridge was recognising my new car . It’s rare to find someone so genuine and helpful in car sales, and she is a real credit to Riverside Volvo long may she stay at Riverside Hull as I will definitely return for a new car in 2-3years time the customer experience was superb.

If Google allowed it this would be a 6-star review. I would highly recommend asking for Lily Dean if you are visiting Riverside Volvo Hull. Fantastic experience from start to finish.

I purchased a 21 plate XC40 in August…

I purchased a 21 plate XC40 in August 2024, it had less than 9000 miles on the clock. In April 25 both key fobs stopped working, so the batteries were replaced. In September 25 both key fobs stopped again, the service department said I needed new batteries which they fitted even though I had said new batteries had been fitted earlier in the year. In January 26 both fobs stopped working again. No surprise to me that changing batteries did not fix the problem. The car was then booked in for further investigation. I received a call later that day stating that the VCM battery needed replacing which would cost £363. In addition the boot struts needed replacing at £320 each. At this point the car had done around 20000 miles. I queried both issues based on the age and mileage of the car. Basically told I was just unlucky!
Car went in to have VCM battery changed, this did not solve the problem so they had to fit a VCM module costing £1500 plus Vat!! Told this did not solve the problem and that car would need to go in again. The car went back in and somehow this time they fitted the same parts again and it worked!!I again queried this as to whether it is common and acceptable that these parts fail in a low mileage 4 year old car, the answer was yes you can expect the battery and module to only last 4 years!! According to Dr Google this is not the case.
Very disappointed in what I thought was a quality car.

Can I give negative stars for Volvo

Can I give negative stars for Volvo? What a shit show Volvo is when it comes to service. My car will not function without a part that has failed after warranty. The part has to be manufactured by Volvo in Sweden. The part was paid for and ordered on or around October 1st 2025. It is now March 9 2026, and neither the Volvo repair center or Volvo Sweden can give me an ETA on the finished repair of my car. Never, Never, Never buy a Volvo product

My Volvo XC60 2017

My Volvo XC60 2017. I really enjoy the comfort for my long distance trips. It's a fun car holding the road very nicely. I was in New Orleans and parked in front of Charles Pl.. I was behind my car leaning on the grill with my thighs unloading. A Suburban came up behind me and didn't stop. My Volvo had enough give (like a spring) that I did not get hurt at all. So thankful and what a blessing. I've had it for 7 year and love it. The dash board alway seems to have a red light on.

Beware of the Volvo electric Ex30

Beware of the Volvo electric Ex30. A letter to us from Volvo recently pointed out that our car, just over a year old now, risked fire breaking out in it's battery. They ask us to change the charging settings to ensure the battery is never charged over 70%, which reduces the range to around 154 miles, a level very inconvenient for us and certainly not what we were told when we bought the car. They say they are working on the problem, which I am sure they are, but things are getting worse: another letter today asks us never to charge up in a covered area, which is further inconvenience as our charger is inside our garage. We phoned Volvo asking for compensation to help us buy a car which meets what we paid for. Their answer was short and negative!

Don't by an XC 40 if it is the last car on earth

I bought my car under the Volvo Selekt approved used car programme. I have a 2019 Volvo XC 40 and it has been the worst car that I have ever owned. Don't be fooled by the reputation of the previously Swedish owned Volvo organisation as Volvo now is very much owned by the Chinese and it shows.

At 35,000 miles my crank shaft went. It had done so much damage to the crank casing that they actually had to replace the entire engine as there was so much particulate metal in the oil that it had damaged other parts of the engine. At the time they had to also change the flywheel because it was so damaged. No one told me they were changing the flywheel and under their warranty system they don't inspect or change the clutch as it is considered a wear and tear item. However, if I am not the one damaging the clutch it should have been considered. Or at least given me the opportunity to put a new clutch in when changing the flywheel. as it is an 8 hour gearbox out job if the clutch does go wrong.

And low and behold less than 20,000 miles more I have now had to have a new clutch and a new flywheel at my own expense.

My car hasn't even done the manufacturers warranty mileage, as I am at 57,000 and I have had a new engine, two new flywheels and a new clutch. And Volvo seem to feel that because I bought my car on finance it is the finance company's problem. They didn't manufacture the car, Volvo, you did. In fact I think you have literally said everybody but you should be spoken to.

I will be speaking to the motoring Ombudsman because this is shocking. Please, please, please read this before you buy a Volvo.

More than that, Volvo know they had a problem with this model of XC 40 as my dealership reliably inform me that they have had many cars back with the same problem. With so many car manufacturers out there, there is better than Volvo available to you.

Volvo EX30

Volvo EX30 - the car is not ready yet. Driving may be dangerous, especially if you come across a drop of water. If you brake, don't ever dare to break in a curve, you may never know where your car will throw itself and stop - simply frightening as I never felt before and so frequently. The app is full of bugs, well, the car itself is, too. Volvo says there is no support for the app in Israel, so it is my problem to have bought a car not fully supported. I cannot imagine what they support or guarantee!Be careful, think twice before buying...

Be careful

Be careful! The service subscription is pure robbery. You have no rights. If the car is sold or even not in use (de-registered), you will pay the full amount until the end...

TMS VOLVO A Volvo approved dealership…

TMS VOLVO A Volvo approved dealership in Leicester are very very unethical. I have had incompetent work done for a very long time but stuck with them as better the devil you know. Recently was the last straw when my. Ok o was in for a full major service and when it was returned an AA mechanic had suggested that there was no way an oil change had been carried out as the dealership claimed.
4 months later there has been zero response until very recently when they claim that myself and the AA mechanic are wrong. They claim to have used 6 litres of oil this would show
Near full, the oil upon inspection was black and no sign of any new oil.

I feel they are deceptively charging for work that has not been done. This is not the first time by far that this has been noticed.

Volvo Treatment: unauthorised use of car for non repair use

Volvo Treatment:
My car went in for a window fault at Volvo Borehamwood. , I discovered it had been driven for 120 miles without my permission. It was used for various personal errands, including trips to Thane, Oxfordshire , Hertford, and two different Travelodges, as well as for staff errands such as lunch runs to Asda and transporting another customer. However, when I requested a simple three-minute lift to the station in my own car, I was instead directed to a taxi service. This unauthorized usage is unacceptable and directly contradicts professional standards. I had entrusted my car to your team fully valeted, yet it was returned in a poor state, with no accountability taken for its misuse.

Volvo’s policies emphasize customer consent for any use of their vehicle beyond agreed services.
2. Mileage Addition: Adding 120 miles to your car for non-repair purposes is excessive and unjustifiable.
3. Condition of Return: Returning your car in a poor state despite it being handed over fully valeted reflects poorly on the service quality.
4. Compensation Offer: A £30 goodwill gesture, along with a car wash and hoover, seems insufficient to address the inconvenience, unauthorized use, and potential wear caused by the additional mileage. Vigorous driving .
Happy to share footage for anyone interested . I believe this is a legal matter now …

AVOID Volvo - attractive but utterly terrible!

Had a Volvo XC40 through the care by volvo scheme. Absolutely terrible experience. The car had no end of issues that had to be fixed. Then when ending the agreement, the amount of hidden and secret charges they piled on (none of which were communicated at all in the various conversations I had with the Volvo customer service prior to the end of the completion). No good will from the company and were more than happy to have surprised me with a huge invoice of £3k+. AVOID!

Nightmare at Volvo Preston

Nightmare at Volvo Preston. Very rude manager called Steve. I am sure car dealerships hold a darts contest and the winner becomes manager! Obtained a Volvo EX30 wasn't told that alarm can't be switched off, if kids in car, or dog, the alarm will go off. Says you can reduce sensitivity but still as loud. Can't switch lights off either, software not up to scratch! Dealership not up to scratch I will be changing to a car that has the software sorted. I will go to a dealership that has a little respect for their customers. The sales lady, that calls herself Bacca, after golden virginia, rushed me through the handover, as she had another customer, booked at the same time as me! Volvo should call the EX30 back and get the software right. Took car back, but no report given, had RAC out got a report that says "software fault" They have my money so it's a case of your on your own.
