Vidanta makes you Money?
I almost gave 3 stars. Let's talk the resort, this is 5 stars. Fantastic! Kinda expensive like food n stuff, but everything is excellent so that's ok. We've been to Riviera maya and Nuevo Vallarta. Love them both. I'm happy with just that part of our time share. Our time share was paid off and fees were great, we were very content with it.
Then the upgrade... We bought prior to Covid, then went back a few years after covid. They're required to give one upgrade opportunity and because of covid it screwed everything up for them and with the delay of our return they couldn't do an upgrade on our unit size being available so they gave this amazing Grand Mayan Deluxxe. Supposedly better than Luxxe.
We weren't interested, but then they added this thing called third home, then talked about renting our timeshare - I said I've tried that with no success, oh but we'll be assigned an agent with the upgrade via Hawaii collections who would walk us through everything and many renting restrictions would be lifted with our level....
DO NOT UPGRADE TO RENT OUT. You have to sit through that final sale and they ask you if you've been pitched to make money with the time share, but you're prepped to just ignore and bypass that because it's soooo great, I'd love to hear some couples go in and say, yeah that's what it's all about.
Hawaii group does have a thing to help you try and make money, it was terrible for us. It's buying their rentals to re-rent - we paid more than what the resort started advertising the rooms online for at their website and there was no help.
Third home - there are NO OTHER FEES other than what's on that screen. Not a word about this thing called keys. Not a SINGLE word.
We went back to the resort the following year and we went through another "Educational update". We saw another couple go with the exact same agent we had. We saw them at the pool just giddy about how they were going to make so much money with their time share now. I tried to speak up as you can back out within 72 hours or something like that. They wouldn't hear it.
That agent should be investigated, but it'll never happen because he makes so many sales and vidanta is protected by that last contract person saying in no way can this be used as an investment. That alone is red flag enough. I think ALL THE BELLS and whistles makes you glaze over that, excited to do 3rd home was it for us.
We live in eastern montana travel is expensive for us. Especially with 8 kids. Seeing third home availability and a couple places available in Glacier we were excited to spend a week and only pay $800. NOPE those keys are not free by anymeans. OH there is KEYLESS, but they're few and far between and almost all of them are far from us. The most affordable flyout places are Billings, MT and Bismark, ND. So that starts off with a 4 hour drive for us, early flight? Well you're waking up at like 1 AM. --> I suppose that's our own choosing, not Vidanta's, however, several thousand dollars for a couple keys and some places needing A LOT of keys, well that was deceitful. Pissed me off big time.
Just be careful with this place. If you like it and the price they give to return back more affordably, gosh take it. That being said, there are many owners willing to rent out pretty cheap, you could bypass having to own a time share. I do like where I can exchange it outside of Vidanta, which gives the added value I want, but personally. I wouldn't mind going to Nuevo Vallarta every year for a week, I really love it.
