Why are so many drivers so quick to close the doors when you dismbark the bus. I use a stick and need a little time to get off. i have complained many times but drivers just shrugg their shoulders. I have landed on the floor but drivers have never asked if I was ok.This the 61 bus to Masthugget .There a lot of elderly people living in this area and we need a little more time.
Delays, dirty trains and no refunds
Absolutely the worst. Yesterday I took a train from Gothenburg Central to Alingsås, and it was over an hour late. The conductor told us to request a refund for delays over 20 minutes, which this clearly was. Yet, when I asked for a refund, Västtrafik only gave me a 50 SEK voucher and refused to refund the rest. This delay was entirely their fault due to poorly planned work on the tracks. Completely unacceptable service.
Unfair fine even though I had a valid ticket
I had an extremely frustrating and unfair experience with Västtrafik.
I had a valid 90-day ticket, but during my journey my phone battery died and I couldn’t show the ticket to the inspector.
Even though I clearly explained the situation, I received a 1,500 SEK fine.
The inspector told me I could appeal within 10 days, but the paper he gave me did not include an OCR number, which is required to submit an appeal online.
The OCR number arrived 12 days later, when it was already too late to appeal (they form doesn’t accept appeals with no OCR number or after 10 days).
I sent several emails with all the evidence — including my payment receipt — but customer service was completely inflexible and showed no understanding.
They claimed that my ticket “was not registered under my name,” even though I had explained that I did not yet have a Swedish personal number when I bought it.
At that time, I had just arrived in Sweden.
Västtrafik should seriously improve its mobile app.
It should allow people to register using an email address or passport, not only a Swedish personal number.
When you are new in the country, you simply cannot create an account, even though the app still lets you buy long-term tickets — this is very unfair and confusing for newcomers.
Also, the ticket machines inside the trams are extremely unclear.
The interface and options make no sense, and it’s almost impossible to understand how to buy a single ticket or how to validate it when ticket inspectors show up.
It’s really disappointing to see a public transport company treat honest passengers like this.
The digital system doesn’t take technical or human situations into account and there’s no “way around” if you have any problem. They are going to charge and sue you anyway. And it seems that is so common that everyone says “it is the way it is, every now and then you need to pay those surcharges” as if it is completely ok.
I truly hope Västtrafik reviews its policies, improves its app and ticket machines, and starts treating passengers with more empathy and common sense.
Everything is good except of the bus on demand
How many departures you have with buses and perhaps some other public transport vehicles depends naturally on where you live and where the demand is higher. Living far away from Gothenburg or Borås means less departures and therefore more difficulties to travel. Living close to Gothenburg and Borås means more departures, making it easier to travel, and this usually comes without a bus being overcrowded. Kinna is a city where there are very good bus connections with Borås and Gothenburg, during the rush-hours buses can depart every 15 minutes. Traveling in Borås or Gothenburg, or between Kinna and Borås or Gothenburg, is smooth and easy. In fact, traveling outside of Kinna in mentioned directions is even easier than traveling exclusively in Kinna. Kinna has only two city bus lines, which are 55 and 56. Not only are these city bus lines limited in departures, but also in geographical wideness of ways to travel. There are many places in Kinna that are inaccessible with bus lines 55 and 56. That's why Västtrafik started a test of the dynamic public transport, or bus on demand, which has no line, no specified destination and no schedule. The concept is simply about using an app for the bus on demand to order a bus to travel in Kinna whenever you want, wherever you want, even to places out of reach for ordinary public transport. This is where I want to be even more honest, I like the concept itself, but since this project has started, I really hate the totally awful way drivers driving the bus on demand in Kinna behave themselves.
The bus on demand is a totally dangerous trap for people who don't have cars or can't ride bikes in Kinna. I was testing the bus on demand in Kinna for many months and I noticed that bus drivers have serious problems with speeding every single day. Whenever they would like to speed, they speed excessively, putting lives at risk. Some roads in Kinna have speed limits of 40 kilometres an hour, but bus drivers think it's safe to speed at 60 kilometres an hour on these roads, let alone 80 kilometres an hour whenever they feel like speeding this much. Whether you want or just need to use the bus on demand, as a passenger, you can totally forget the safety, because these bus drivers never mind the safety under any circumstances. Their speeding problems is just the beginning. I have noticed them playing with their mobile phones while driving, in some cases almost crashing with oncoming cars, they don't stop when traffic lights show red signals and they use wrong car lights, DRLs while it's foggy, rain, snow, hail or it's dark, rear lights are off when they are legally and by the means of safety required to be on. DRLs are only allowed by the law to use instead of short beam lights in daylight and only without weather conditions decreasing the visibility. To say it shortly, DRLs are almost always illegal and in spite of that, they use DRLs instead of low beam lights which include the rear lights to switch on. Drivers who drive bus on demand never mind about the safety, not for themselves, not for their passengers and not for other road users.
Speaking of safety, everything else is better than the bus on demand by all means. Line buses are already much safer than the bus on demand in Kinna. Even if drivers of line buses happen to be delayed, they don't speed more than 10-15 kilometres an hour above the speed limit, if they even speed excessively. I almost never see them playing with their mobile phones while driving. Line bus drivers are so careful that they almost never even get close to crash with other cars in the traffic at all, and when it comes to the lighting of the buses, regional line buses always have at least low beam lights with the rear lights turned on, they never drive with rear lights turned off at all. In fact I was about to take bus 100 from Gothenburg to Borås once, which was scheduled to depart in one time, but it was delayed and after 20 minutes even cancelled, so I had to wait for another bus to take me to Borås. The driver of that cancelled bus told all the passengers waiting that he can't drive the bus because one of the rear lights is broken. At first I was frustrated over the delay, but when I found out the reason was one rear light that was broken, I also realized they really mind the safety. All lights have to work perfectly even in perfect weather conditions, if even one light malfunctions, drivers will replace the bus with the broken light as soon as possible. I like this high level of minding the safety, because drivers make sure their buses are always visible from a long distance in compliance to the law and with safety in mind. Though I prefer trains over buses, I'm happy with a large number of departures with buses anyway. With all of this being said, stay away from the bus on demand in Kinna whenever possible to travel safely!
The bus driver forgot the stop for the…
The bus driver forgot the stop for the air museum (despite the signal to stop being on). He suggested to drop us further along but it was a large road with no room for pedestrians (and we had 2 strollers). He finally dropped us several kms further along the road in a large Volvo facility with no way to get back but wait for over an hour for the bus back. Eventually a car had to come to pick us up in two goes as we were 4 adults, 2 small kids and 1 baby.
Worst public transport company
My problem is with Västtrafik and their total incompetence. They can't buy a funcunal vehicle that don't break down regularly. They can't run enough vehicles with good spacing to not have them over filled 24/7. And they can't re rout their buss trafic when one of their vehicles breaks down so everything on that line stops working. Instead of having reasonable ticket prices and a resnable customer experience so people acually want to pay for their ride, they just hire ticket inspectors. The day i won't need to ride with västtrafik will be the happiest day of my life!
Refused to let my card register on app
I went to go somewhere and put my card details in and the app just said "oopps something went wrong", froze up and I had to restart my phone to unfreeze it. Tried again and same again, had to get off at next stop. Called my bank to see if it was refused and they have no record of any attempt at any payment being made.... So that's me not going anywhere! Total crap.
They changed their services for the worst
Very sad to say that they changed their level of service to the worst. I go out of Göteborg and need to reach a bus stop on Orust and it is IMMPOSSIBLE to do it in under 180 minutes which they provide with the ABC ticket!! Unfortunatly they are the only provider of public transport on that route.
Västraffik false claims and looting me with surcharges
Västraffik sent a letter with surcharges of 1500SEK.
This surcharge came as a surprise and shock yesterday when I received the letter.
It has been told in the letter that the surcharge has been conveniently at the earlier time than the actual journey.
What happened?:
There was a guy who randomly approached and asked for my ticket when I was boarding the tram. He claimed to be ticket checker.
I was trying to fetch my ticket on my phone which was dead. I was trying to turn it on with the hope that I could show the ticket which took a couple of mins to load the app.
In the mean time, the ticket checker was in a hurry and trying to intimidate me threatening me to take me to the security.
I was calm and told him that I have the ticket. He said he has the possibility to check it himself if I have a valid ticket with my personal number.
He asked me to type my personal number.
I was a bit hesitant since he didn't seem like a legit ticket checker from Västraffik - no ID cards with name, etc. I wanted to make sure if he is truly from Västtrafik for me to share an important personal data of mine. He refused to give any name and only showed "Biljettkontroll" on his ID card.
This was very phishy and I have no clue how to check the genuinity of the person.
I then typed my personal number and he said he'll check it and he got off the tram.
I then continued to travel to my destination. It all happened between 16:52- 16:55 approximately. Now, I have received this letter.
My rationale-
1. First of all a random person without any name on badge, having only "Biljettkontroll" is insufficient for anyone to provide their personal information. It seems to be a data & privacy breach according to GDPR.
2. I don't know if there are any specific targets or awards for ticket checkers so that they could randomly make use these kind of vulnerable situations to give penalties.
After investigation, they asked me to provide more info on the boarding point within 7 days to respond on 22nd Nov. I provided them with the information on 28th Nov which is within 7 days.
They came back again claiming I didn't respond in time and so their surcharge stands.
I wrote to them again saying I responded in time and they are false claiming the delay just like their actual claim.
They came back again with the same answer that the surcharge stands, now with another false claim that the tram has passed the boarding point I mentioned before I bought the ticket which is again not true. Neither the tram I boarded nor the previous tram arrived at the stop at 16:48.
My tram arrived at 16:52 and the previous one arrived at 16:51(delayed by 3 mins).
There is a lot of made up information with their claims.
I will sue them for all these false claims, misusing my personal info for this surcharge claim, for not following GDPR guidelines to get my personal number.
I will deal with this legally.

Jag åkte på Älvsnabben men glömde och köpa biljett, sen så kom personalen och var väldigt elak mot mig... Han sa att han hatade mig och ville aldrig se mig igen. 2 tjärnor.

I went on Älvsnabben but forgot to buy a ticket, then the staff came and were very mean to me... He said he hated me and never wanted to see me again. 2 stars.
Live platform indicators at Brunnsparken are WRONG
First time visitor to Gothenburg and had an extremely bad experience using local transport.
First of all -
Searching for a tram on Google maps does not mention which platform the tram will go from. Given that many stations have 6-7 different platforms spread across at a distance, knowing the platform number is a must for any traveller.
Secondly -
the platform indicators at Brunnsparken are wrong. They said the tram 11 goes from B1, so I went to B1 and waited and the tram never arrived but on maps it said it left. Since the platforms are far away you can’t even spot easily if the tram went to another platform. The live indicator at B1 platform also said that 11 will come there. Then spotted a small paper posted saying until June 11 will go from C1. So I went to C1 and the tram finally arrived there, with the live indicator right next to C1 still stating its coming at B1. Coming from Stockholm this has been a harrowing exprience cos SL does this significantly better.
I usually take the buss 25 from mölndal…
I usually take the buss 25 from mölndal toward the city or vise versa, not only they are alwaysssss late, but also uneducated & respectless personal sometimes I happen to sit in the bus more than five minutes past the schedule time and the driver is no where to be seen! or in city they come so late sometimes it happens two busses overlap , the first one doesn’t stop for everyone since there is another one behind and the one behind leaves people behind without even stopping ! Let alone how many times i have been screamed on because its cold outside and i stopped inside the designated bus station which according to the driver ”is hard to see” if there is someone inside , and they are all made of glasses btw!! I honestly regret every ticket that i buy and since there is no other option you are only left with frustration!
The app is almost never correct
The app is almost never correct. Extremely unreliable services and extremely expensive!!
Bought a ticket yesterday just before…
Bought a ticket yesterday just before midnight. The ticket didn’t go through the first try and there was an error. I tried again and bought a new ticket that one did work. The day after I checked my bank statement and saw that I got charged 2 times for the ticket that worked and for the ticket that didn’t work.
Called costumer service thinking it wouldn’t be a problem to get refunded for one ticket. Unfortunately this was a big issue for them. Asking me why I didn’t call them last night or early this morning. I called them as soon as I saw that they charged me twice.
After arguing that there was an error and the lady telling me that it would be only one time the I will ever be refund because I should have waited to get the ticket to work. ( the train was leaving in 2 minutes so I didn’t have the time)
She refunded me money back telling me multiple times that if only going to be happen one time to get refunded ever.
I told thanks for being so polite and so helpful( NOT) and I hang up.
She called me back after and demanded me for me e-mailadres to get a report otherwise I wouldn’t get my money refunded. I told her I already got it back and that i didn’t see the need to tell her my email. She told me it’s up to me if I get my money back or not.
We’re talking about 70 KR why is it so hard to for this company to own up for their mistakes and just refund.
Dangerous driving, awful service
The service of that company is awful. I’m not gonna talk about that they do not properly work on weekends, and that you need to call for a bus to come to Sörredsmotet in Gothenburg to get to Volvo museum, but the thing is that I called 60 minutes beforehand and the bus 32 still did not arrive. There were other tourists waiting for a bus with me, but they did not know they had to call beforehand. So when another woman called Västtrafik, they told her next bus would arrive in another hour, which is horrible! I called beforehand, so it seems nobody wanted to just give me a ride because I wanted just one seat! Never mind that, after hearing that another bus would come in 60 minutes, me and other people who were waiting for a bus, decided to walk to the destination. It takes a 40 minutes walk from that bus stop to the final destination, which was Volvo museum. So not long after we started walking, the bus came, we needed to run so it would not leave without us!! The bus driver saw that we were running and did not want to stop and wait for us, I guess when the woman was almost under the wheels of the vehicle, he decided to stop! When we came into the bus, a woman with two kids did not have time to seat yet, when the driver started to drive, so the woman fell to the floor with her child! This is so awful! I guess the driver was mad, and people who get easily mad should not be permitted to drive a public transport!!! This whole situation made me feel bad about Sweden, I did not expect this to happen in a civilised country!
Worst public transport in EU
Worst public transport in EU ! Just terrible...
Services are absolutely dreadful
Services are absolutely dreadful, shame they charge so much for uselessness!!! They charge so much because people have no other option. Dreadful awful company
Using buses and trams in Gothenburg is…
Using buses and trams in Gothenburg is like being on a roadtrip with dumb and dumber.
Save your money better off walking than…
Save your money better off walking than giving it to those money hungry c.un.t.s. I would rather bleach my anus with one hand than take their services
I would give zero
I would give zero. Disgraceful service. Always too many people on the tram and no one to check this. When the ticket police do come on the tram the tram empties and they don’t check any of these people. I at times wait with my baby as we can’t even get on the tram despite paying everytime. They should be on the tram checking tickets as no one is paying. Why should I pay and have to stand cramped up to several people when I know that 90% of the rest of the tram are sat without paying. Sort yourself out and provide a better service
