I was trying to setup ubuntu server…

I was trying to setup ubuntu server based GPU hosting for 5060 ti, which was not even having proper driver till recently. I am a complete noob and did all stages using Chatgpt(it was hell). However, the support from vastai was nice, considerate and responsive. Thanks to the team.

I can say this is the worst GPU rental…

I can say this is the worst GPU rental site I’ve ever used. Most of the servers are very outdated, with terrible disks and poor internet connections. The good ones are extremely overpriced. Customer support doesn’t respond for almost an hour and doesn’t solve any issues. Even if you set up backups, they don’t work. They keep charging you even if the server goes down. I definitely do not recommend it.

Easy Affordable GPUs

Vast.ai is the best GPU cloud provider for technically minded people!

Being able to rent GPUs through a cli and programmatically control cloud GPUs via an SDK is a major win!

Being one of the most affordable cloud GPU providers with plenty of H100 and H200 offerings doesn't hurt either!

Awful company, first and last time I use their services.

I had a terrible experience with this company. Their official Stable Diffusion templates are flawed, producing outputs that lack prompt adherence, realism, and are often disfigured or distorted. I contacted them, but they ignored me and refused to refund me for the many hours I spent troubleshooting issues that were not my fault.

We’re truly sorry your first experience with Vast.ai fell short. The Stable Diffusion template you used should have worked, and it’s clear we let you down—first with the technical issue and then by not responding promptly.

We’ve now issued a full refund of all your charges. Because the workload was deleted more than two weeks ago, we no longer have the logs needed to re-create and diagnose what went wrong. That said, we’re reviewing our templates and support workflows to prevent a repeat of this situation for anyone else.

Great business model, friendly support, but

Fantastic way to monetise your GPU if it's sitting there gathering dust.

Great community, and the support team has always been very helpful when I encountered technical issues.

New update:

Not friendly to hosts.
It has hidden listing rules that determine whether your instance appears in the renter's search results.

This rule has a huge impact on the visibility of your machine and thus rental. However, vast ai is not explicit about these rules.

As a result, my machine does not show up in search result most of the time, despite very competitive spec / cost. And there is nothing i can do.
