The varsity tutors phone representatives continue to be very helpful and I truly appreciate their assistance. However, it has been an ongoing struggle finding and keeping good tutors. Fortunately, after a year a frequent turnaround, my son has 1 tutor who remains consistent and another tutor who is approaching that status. Also, the program being uses by varsity tutors deleted tutors from my account that their representatives invested time into helping me schedule and reschedule which is unfortunate.

Requested a tutor. Never got one. They didnt refund my money despite them saying it was their fault. Never using this service again.

The tutor was excellent. However, since he wasn’t local, and the class was an honors physics course without a text book, he did not have access to the specific class materials.

Although we finally landed on a tutor that worked well with our middle schoolers, the first tutor was clearly experiencing dementia. While we felt for his situation, I do not know how he passed any of their hiring processes. He told my daughter the same 3 stories at least 5 times in each of the 2 sessions with her. Second, the tutor who started strong started canceling last minute with us in 6/8 sessions, and we had no time in our schedules to make up missed sessions before our billing cycle was up. We would call, customer service would claim they were crediting us for the next cycle, said they would not appear until the next cycle started, but then they would not show. Then they had a lot of glitches after redesining their website including no way to get to the help center (it would tell you to log in even though you were and then would tell you it was the wrong username and password). Then, even though we spoke 3 times over the phone discussing issues and letting them know we were not i terested in "make up" sessions over the summer when my kids had no school w9rk for which they would need assistance, they kept insisting on that instead of a refund for all the sessions missed because of last minute cancelations. On top of it, I discussed a pause over the summer with two different representatives hoping for a 60 day pause but they said they could only allow 30, which I accepted, but then I was still charged for the month. I asked for a refund which they then declined. Great concept, some tutors are great but inconsistent and customer service is terrible.

Anthony is an outstanding AP World History Tutor! He explained difficult concepts in a way that was easy to understand, kept every session engaging, and help build confidence. Our daughter grades increased tremendously after spending 2 months with Anthony tutoring. Highly recommend Anthony to any students struggling in AP World.

This is the absolute worst company I have ever done business with. You should not ever request a tutor from this company. They are entirely unprofessional and do not listen. I had a long conversation with a rep in my state detailing what I wanted. She said yes. The tutor then proceeded to cancel and reschedule all sessions for the times I said my daughter was unavailable. Dozens of texts. They got me a new tutor who then didn’t start in the day I asked. The night before her session, she cancelled. At 8:45 pm—texting and emailing. This is after five more conversations with four different HQ people. I am currently waiting for a “review” to get a full refund. This is a trash company, run horribly and unprofessionally. They should be shut down. I’m in the process of documenting every single thing that occurred, what was said, and what was promised and the “CEO” bro will be hearing from me.

They are very sneaky with their billing. They provide misinformation in their membership. I would find another platform.

It worked out. I was worked hard but the tutor was available and I passed.

My family signed a contract stating I would receive 4 hours a month of tutoring. When I began receiving my sessions, Additional tutoring sessions and charges were added to the contract without my knowledge after the tutoring sessions began. Had this been explained clearly from the beginning, we would have cancelled much sooner. Very disappointed in the billing process.

Wonderful experience

I cannot recommend Anne enough! She helped me pass my math praxis with flying colors, and I truly don't think I could have done it without her. She is incredibly knowledgeable and always knows how to explain difficult concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand.

What I appreciate most is how relaxed and comfortable she makes every tutoring session. She's patient, encouraging, and never makes you feel intimidated or embarrassed for asking questions. She's also been incredibly flexible and available whenever I've needed extra help, which made a huge difference while I was studying.

If you're looking for a tutor who is experienced, supportive, and genuinely invested in your success, Anne is the best choice. I'm so grateful for all of her help and would recommend her to anyone preparing for the Praxis!

The tutoring itself was excellent. Greyson's tutor was patient, encouraging, and helped him make noticeable progress in just a few months. We were genuinely happy with the quality of instruction and appreciated the positive impact she had on his confidence and learning.
My issue is with Varsity Tutors' billing policy. The membership was about $250 per month, and I didn't realize that unused tutoring time expires each month. It's a strict "use it or lose it" policy. I believed I had canceled my membership and thought the unused time I had already paid for would still be available when we were ready to return. Instead, I learned that I had lost about $500 worth of tutoring.
Customer service did work with me by crediting back about half of the lost time and giving me 30 days to use it, which I appreciate. However, I still don't believe it's fair for prepaid tutoring time to expire.
If you're considering Varsity Tutors, I highly recommend the tutors themselves, but make sure you fully understand the membership and expiration policies before signing up. That policy is the only reason I won't be using the service again.

I found Varsity Tutors to be very aggressive with selling packages. The money back guarantee is not very clear. I missed my target score by four points. I was advised I was not within the time window to get a refund. All of my tutoring was done on 240 Tutoring platform which I had to purchase outside of Varsity tutoring. I’m very disappointed, and will never recommend Varsity Tutors to anyone

Excellent teachers and tutors. I feel that I am learning a lot from both my tutor as well as the teachers.

Magda has been great for my daughter with Geometry. She went from failing to finishing with an 87 for the year. Thanks Maggie!

I have found great tutors on this site and the platform is easy to use.

Instructor is fantastic and Varsity I has been flexible with me.

The tutor we had was amazing. My daughter improved in school overall because her reading improved. But the Varsity Tutor website is awful. I could not cancel our subscription for the summer without jumping through some major hoops. If they fix the website we may be back next year.
