Hi, bought Valspar "Skimming Stone" which we have had matched to Farrow and Ball's Skimming stone in the past. The formula has seemed to change!...colour much lighter than the original (2 houses with all rooms "Skimming Stone")...and needed 2 or 3 coats to get overall coverage .Disappointed that it wasn't up to your usual standard.

I have never received a voucher for this free paint offer so no good telling me to go to B&Q before the voucher runs out if I have nothing to show .Very typical with all these free things, they don't seem to exist .

I can only assume Velpar have decided to reduce the quality of their paint, hoping nobody would notice! When Valspar first hit the shelves of B&Q we used it and found it to be very good in some case better than much more expensive brands, so it was our go to paint when doing a complete house renovation. However, it does not adhere very well and has peeled in many places, it does not cover very well with many places leading at least three coats. It does not wipe clean if you brush against this paint it will mark and the only way to get rid of the mark is to paint over it (TWICE!!)
Whoever is responsible for this cost cutting exercise needs to understand this will now cost your company massively, just look at your reviews I was one of your biggest fans I will not be purchasing Valspar anymore.
You need to sort this out. We do notice!!

We chose paint that didn't look as we hoped when applied. Valspar honoured their Love Your Colour Guarantee speedily, without problem and with wonderful customer service. We are thrilled with the new colour and quality of the paint!
Thankyou Valspar!
Would thoroughly recommend!

Amazing Service.Mia was veey helful and helped us select the right colors suggesting some coordinating color options. Will definitely recommend as mosg of the times the color looks different on the wall than in the box. Will recommend using testers always.

I wish I could attach photos - 3 paints mixed by B&Q to lick white 03... Which were VERY different colours. If you are getting colour matches PLEASE check the numbers on the label. The amount of each colour was different for each mix. I just blindly trusted that they'd give me the same colour each time...
Paint quality is good, but the colours are not what they say on the tin :(

Valspar has told me, to all intents and purposes, that the reason their Classic Walls & Ceiling paint didn't stick to Leyland Contract White Paint was because I hadn't stirred their paint and/or left it too long between applying coats of their paint.
I bought the Valspar paint from B&Q (where it is mixed in a machine), opened it and stirred it with a screwdriver and could see that it was well mixed with no changes in colour or consistency.
When, several days later, I was able to peel sheets of Valspar paint off the Leyland paint (which resolutely stuck to the wall). The 'delay' in applying second and subsequent coats of Valspar paint clearly had no impact on its ability to stick to itself.
Valspar were clearly squirming out of the situation and laying responsibility on my inability stir paint, and proposing that their paint doesn't stick to itself or underlying paint if you leave it longer than 4 hours before applying the second coat.
By way of background - we bought some Valspar Classic Walls and Ceiling paint for a feature wall from B&Q. The B&Q staff were very good with colour selection. About 10 samples (& thus £45+ later) we'd chosen the paint. The wall was over 50 years old and previously painted. Some surface repairs were needed before I gave it two coats of Leyland Contract White Matt paint - which can be used on any surface.
I then applied 3 coats of Valspar to the feature wall.
After 2 days I then masked the edges of the feature wall with low-tack Frog tape (the yellow one) so I could get a sharp finish. This was left on the Valspar paint for about 5 hours (allowing two coats of the adjacent wall/ceiling colour) but, on removal, took the Valspar paint off the wall.
I went to B&Q and a Valspar representative advised it better to contact Valspar directly (but overtly denied it was B&Q legal responsibility - which is incorrect). This I did, providing copious pictures and information on preparation etc. Whilst waiting for a response I decided to remove the paint. It proved pretty easy, coming off in sheets of up to 0.5M across. Some needed a bit more effort, but none was difficult.
Valspar then asked me to confirm what I'd used to prepare the walls. I had already told them once and confirmed Leyland Contract White Paint. At this point they clearly concluded that they couldn't blame surface preparation and decided to focus on my poor paint stiring technique for a can just prepared by B&Q, and my failure to apply a second coat in less than 4 hours.
So - there you have it. Don't apply Valspar Classic Walls and Ceiling paint to Leyland Contract White Paint. And don't bother contacting Valspar as they'll deny all responsibility.
Possibly best not to buy Valspar paint at all.... I certainly won't again.

HI INTENSE RED EMULSION DREADFUL WATE OF MONEY TIME & LIFE!! YOU WILL DEEPLY REGRET THAT DECISION IVE WASTED A GOOD WEEK ON SANDING WASHING CLEANING THE WALL AFTER USING IT LET ALONE THE TIME IN PREARING IT IN ORDER TO APPLY THAT DREADFUL EMULSION. VALSPAR SHOULD PAY ME FOR LOSS OF TIME & COST OF MATERIALS BUT I DOUBT THEY EVER WILL & I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH LIFE LEFT TO WASTE ON VALSPAR! SCORE OUT OF 10 ERR NIL ZERO MINUS 10! 26/4/26 For your information I went back to B & Q discussed how to resolve the issue of the emulsion low opacity & the Black / Red mottling effect i had on the wall & the recommenced the appropriate undercoat of Grey which I put on the wall again after much sanding claeaning again. I can't say it made much difference same effect of mottling blotchy ! The other thing I noticed I started to get blistering in patches which needed sanding as they didn't go with heating the room. I did research at this point & found certain cemeicals in paints etc can cause this blistering! EQUALLY there are many discontented reviews re this product to be found on search engine which you are aware of & nothing seems to have changed . I'LL STICK TO CROWN in future ..

This is the first time that I've used Valspar paint and the last. I went for the premium most expensive version. My experience has been horrendous and has cost me a lot of time and money. I have done all my own decorating for the last 45 years and can honestly say this is the worst paint I've ever used. I had taken a long time to prepare the room and was looking forward to the nice part. Despite going over a previously painted surface (I primed it as well) it dried out patchy. I did three coats and tried different rollers in an attempt to get a good finish but to no avail. So, I had to buy another 2.5 litres of paint and also bought a paint additive for another try which was an added cost that I shouldn't have had, not to mention the extra hours I worked to get an acceptable finish. Four coats later I have got a better finish but not up to my usual standard. I will never buy this awful paint again and will stick to Dulux and Crown.
I wish I had seen these reviews before I bought it, as although some people have had a positive experience many more have had a similar experience to me. Play safe and buy a different brand.

The love your colour guarantee scheme doesn't stipulate that both colours need to be 5lt and on different recipts. Using this scheme we needed to contact customer services on 2 separate occasions to find out if we'd get our money back. They were not going to return our purchase costs stating the following, "While we’re unable to proceed with your request under our Love Your Colour Guarantee as the new colour must be purchased on a separate receipt and in the same quantity as the original one as outlined in our terms and conditions"." we do appreciate the circumstances you’ve outlined. As a gesture of goodwill, we would be happy to offer you a refund for your purchase on this occasion. This led to a frustrating few days. Edited. After review of Valspar response.

I've had a terrible allergic reaction to it and still have. Over a week later and upstairs still smells like a chemical plant. If you're an allergy sufferer buy a sample and make sure it doesn't give you problems; I wish I had done
