Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 409 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about extremely long hold times when trying to reach support, often speaking with representatives who struggled to understand or adequately resolve their banking problems. Reviewers also highlighted frustrating issues with delayed payments, unexpected account locks, and sudden fees that left them feeling completely unsupported by the staff. Some reviewers were satisfied with helpful individual branch staff, praising their polite demeanor alongside generally positive mortgage experiences. A few consumers also noted that specific local branch managers and certain employees provided exceptionally caring and professional support during their office visits.

U.S Bank Customer Service is absolutely horrible!

U.S. Bank sucks!

After another credit card company that my family and I use for grocery shopping was recently acquired by US Bank and converted, I called their customer service line in order to try and get the new card to show up on my online dashboard (as I already had another credit card with US Bank). Sounds pretty simple, right?

Well, mere words cannot truly describe how frustrating of an experience that was!

After being on the phone for well over an hour, being placed on hold numerous times, being notified they were unable to assist me and I had to call another number (only to be routed back again to the VERY SAME PERSON), and just getting the total run around- I I ended up just canceling ALL my accounts with them. We are talking about termination of an almost 15 year relationship with a very high credit line with them. I decided to end any and all business with US Bank because it just wasn’t worth this kind of a hassle.

So, my advice to anyone reading this is to go elsewhere and avoid US Bank at all costs, unless you want to deal with incredibly frustrating experiences like mine.

Stay away. Stay far, far away!

Have made double payments as a result…

Have made double payments as a result of the kindergarten app that won’t give you basic information. Have had to call customer no service every month to try and set up recurring payments. I thought BOA was bad! Dealer placed our lease with them. Will “Never” use that car dealer or US No Bank “Ever”!!
Do Not bank with these idiots..

this company allowed a fraudulent company to rip me off. I will no longer use this company. it has the worst cs I've ever seen. luckily for me, the fraud charge was only 38 dollars, so they now have lost a good customer because of their absolutely terrible cs.

I have 30,000 in savings and a 700…

I have 30,000 in savings and a 700 credit score and can’t get a 5000$ personal loan for a vehicle. Been with bank for years. Totally done. Don’t put your money in here. Scheduled two appointments to talk to a person and they didn’t even bother to call. Terrible service all around. Not worth keeping money in there.

This bank sent me a credit card without my consent

This bank sent me a credit card without me asking for it. I did not want any account or card with them. I guess that Amazon did away with American Express and forced on us to have an account with USBank. I did not and do not want it. I do not like that they just send you a card, without your approval or consent and that Amazon sent them all my personal information. I think this is very unprofessional and will cancel and close this forced account on me when I can. I will have to stop using Amazon too. These two are in cahoots, and I think what they did was very unprofessional. I do not recommend this company for operating this way. I think they are very unprofessional.

Poor Experience

It is nearly impossible to get through to a real person. I had to try several different ways and spent hours just to reach a live agent, and unfortunately, the representatives I spoke with were not knowledgeable.

For example, when I opened the account, the representatives could not tell me how long the promotional interest rate would last. When the rate dropped, the bank did not send any email or other notification. I only discovered the lower rate by checking my statement.

To make matters worse, when I transferred my money out and closed the account, the bank did not pay me the final $45.07 in interest that I had earned. I had to spend significant time trying to get an explanation, and I received inconsistent answers. It just took my interest. This would not happen on other banks.

Overall, the lack of communication, difficulty reaching customer service, and handling of my final interest payment have seriously damaged my trust in this bank. I would not recommend this bank and will not do business with them again.

I just paid off my us bank credit card…

I just paid off my us bank credit card and they cut my credit limit in half. I've never made a late payment, never missed a payment, nor have I ever gone over my credit limit. My credit utilization is very low, and my scores are all higher than when they first gave me the card. They can keep their crappy card, but that cut actually dropped my scores. And this isn't the first time that they've done this. The other card they did it to was a business card, so it didn't effect my credit. But just beware that us bank can and will cut your credit limit with absolutely zero notice and zero explanation... you'll actually be punished for paying off your credit card balance...

This bank has turned my world upside…

This bank has turned my world upside down. I deposited a 2,000 check, and the teller promised me I would have funds available the next day. I told if not I would go across the street to Wells Fargo and cash it. The next day my funds were not there, when I called US Bank they told me it was on a hold for security reasons, which makes no since to me because my friend who wrote the check saw that the funds have been taken from his account, and nothing pending. Now I'm getting all these over draft fees, I am so upset and lost.

I would give half star rating if it was an option.... I cant believe that customerservice representative when speaking with them puts blame on you when you are asking for a little guidance. They keep saying they sent me things in the mail and when I call and let them know I nevered received anything they keep saying it's may be the postoffice and check with them. When I also say that what I recieved and was told to do things online I hear nothing.... I am gonna stop this review for now it is giving me a stressful headache..... I do not recommend this company for anything and if tou do choose them be careful...v

DO NOT WORK WITH US BANK

DO NOT WORK WITH US BANK! Context, I declared bankruptcy. I have been struggling to keep up with payments due to job loss and disability. This has been years of steady decline.

I got payed on 7/31/2026. I proceeded to submit four payments [rent, car, car insurance, phone]. Two days later I received written confirmation that these have all been processed.

Today, I noticed that these payments had disappeared, and the money was in my account. US Bank neglected to tell me that the payments had been returned and thay there was a hold on my account.

In fact, there was no customer having record on my account that indicated failed payments or a hold. The oppose IS true though. I have 4 seperate confirmation emails that said all these payments were PROCESSED. Now my rent, and car payment are past due. Due to the lack of and incorrect information, I could lose my vehicle that I have NEVER missed a payment up to this point, and could experience eviction.

The only reason the hold was even addressed was because I called and had a breakdown on the phone because this lack of clear communication has made me late on everything. I have a neurological disorder that makes interpreting numbers/understanding numbers really hard. I rely on my account information being up to date as I actively am checking this to track purchases. This hindered my ability to respond appropriately.

I strongly recommend that you DO NOT USE US Bank. When you find yourself in ao.e of the hardest financial crises of your life, US Bank will actively make that situation even harder. Find a more reliable bank service.

Literally the worst customer service…

Literally the worst customer service experience! They claim they can't do anything about a service not provided by a merchant. However, I had split the transaction and Chase had absolutely no problem resolving this. Even "supervisors" or "customer resolution" is horrible. There is no resolution or even solution based thinking. It's passing information and a waste of time. I will NOT be banking with US Bank.

Into the corporate darkness

I have used U.S. Bank before it was called US Bank in the 90s. I can’t even begin to describe the frustration at every level for someone who is not a big player in the financial world let alone not feeling like a valued customer. Today I called aboutletter from US Bankcard member service that my card’s APR’s would be higher based on little evidence of delinquency from an even worse, institution the credit bureau.
In addition an incorrect name for payer on outgoing checks via Bill pay. and lately changes to the website don’t make access or control easier.
The only plus I found is going into a branch bank to talk to an officer who’s worked with me for years. I am tech savvy so while I’d rather take care of business through phone or online, I go into the bank just for relief. Kudos go to them. I can tell officers are also frustrated the changes. I think it’s time to do some nobank shopping after 30 years with USB. Today’s experience with the supervisor, who was very factual about telling me that other banks do the same thing with warning members and raising APR‘s. Sheis not one I would blame. They’re having to receive all the complaints. If you don’t feel valued as a customer, no matter your level of income, then it’s a no go and under this current administration, we are losing consumer protections against corporate MO.

Account hacked/ Bad Service

A US Bank account was hacked and money stolen with the aid of a US Bank phone representative. Hacker called, spoke with US Bank representative and impersonated identification. All done fraudulently. Money stolen with multiple transactions. US bank teller also shorted an account transaction, fraudulently.
Multiple problems w account closure... due to US Banks neglect, inefficiencies, and mismanaged timeliness to get accounts closed.
Beware of their service.....

Zelle is easy and more informal, wire strict and shut down your access

Sending money payment to employees through Zelle was surprisingly smooth and easy then trying to wire a payment completely shut down the app , not access , stated that my information does not match.
I call and they said they cannot help me that it was for security , which is ridiculous, because I input details information of the bank and the person where the money is going to. I had to wait two days now for me be able to change password and log in.
I despite this bank.
Does not help at all a business rather to give you hard time. Definitely this is enough for me to start looking for another bank such as Capital One.

US Bank has Terrible Customer Service.

I have been a long time customer and for years had good customer service experience. For the past year this experience has turned bad. It is impossible to communicate with US Bank via there website. It is difficult to get clear, helpful answers via Customer Service phone calls. The phone agents have heavy foreign accents and do not know the answers to my questions. A recent transfer from external bank didn't show up in my account on time and the phone agents say there are no pending transfers! Reward points have not shown up for months. Clarity and transparency has vanished from their customer service.

Bought my mortgage - Cant make split payments

US Bank bought my mortgage from my previous lender. While I've had decent expereicnes with customer service reps, I am extremely dissapointed that I am not allowed to make split payments on this. While I can afford to pay my mortgage in full each month, split payments make life significantly less stressful. Not having the option to make these when I really needed it caused me to apply for mortgage assistance multiple times when it could have been avoided with a split payment option.
