Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 409 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about extremely long hold times when trying to reach support, often speaking with representatives who struggled to understand or adequately resolve their banking problems. Reviewers also highlighted frustrating issues with delayed payments, unexpected account locks, and sudden fees that left them feeling completely unsupported by the staff. Some reviewers were satisfied with helpful individual branch staff, praising their polite demeanor alongside generally positive mortgage experiences. A few consumers also noted that specific local branch managers and certain employees provided exceptionally caring and professional support during their office visits.

Received credit card with no pin

Received credit card with no pin, supposed to be old pin. Three(3) calls to FOREIGN customer service. Two disconnects before third agent answered. Language BARRIER not comfortable disclosing personal information to call center. Final result instructed to go to my local branch. We have been with the bank over 50 years , unless the off shore practice is changed we are going to change institutions.

HORRIBLE PREPAID CARD. MANY PROBLEMS.

Customer service people hardly speak English. It’s very hard to find out information on your card or your funds. Their website is even worse with inaccurate directions on where to go to perform actions. Twice I’ve had money sitting on this worthless card for over a week - that I needed in my bank - because I had to add my external bank card to externally transfer my paycheck to my normal bank. But they didn’t tell me it takes 5 to 7 days before I can transfer that money because I have to wait for my external bank to OK the link from my prepaid card. After using it for six months suddenly I couldn’t transfer any money again. I found out through customer service, which was awful, that I was not enrolled in external transfers. I asked the lady how can that be if I’ve been doing it for six months, she couldn’t even give me an answer so then I asked who who had taken me off external transfers and she said she didn’t have that information. Every time I asked a question she pretty much said ‘all I see here on my screen is that you have to enroll an external transfers’ . I said I’ve BEEN enrolled. My card is already on the account it’s just not transferring and I need to know why!!!! I ended up getting so frustrated. I just hung up on her! U.S. Bank, I don’t understand why they have outsourcing. Worst prepaid bank card I’ve ever worked with. Even though wisely takes a few days for money to transfer at least I never had problems with wisely.

They put me on hold twice to speak with a manager, and at the end, managers too busy to solve customers problem. but sure they hang up on me.after make me wait for over 45 minutes Wow

I wished I could rate them below 1…

I wished I could rate them below 1 star. They are terrible and not honest. I opened an account with them, then I was deployed overseas. I called them and notified them, they told me that there wasn't an issue. While overseas, I used my card for a while. Then they blocked my card, my online bank. Withheld my salary and lied to me that the salary has been sent to DFAS. They never for once reached out to me via email or phone. I always called. Then I reached out to DFAS who proved to me that the malicious US Bank still has my money. They are just terrible. Let me save my breath. They are a sham.

Offer a bonus for a certain amount…

Offer a bonus for a certain amount deposited and then don't allow you to deposit that amount when opening your account. Then charge you a fee for not maintaining a set amount because you weren't allowed to deposit said amount. What a scam.

US Bank has the worst customer service by phone and on line.

US Bank has the worst customer service levels! Never have I ever experienced such poor sevice from a bank online and by phone. The disconnect between online vs. branch banking is like night and day. Although people tout the App, online direct and the website functionality sucks. Another disconnection on the website is the Investment services side; two distinct separations of the company services, missing key features for the self directed investor; limited and very time consuming research tools. US Bank, from bad to worse.

Credit card sham

Two different 0% offers of credit with one expiring in March (6 mo. term) and one in July( 1 yr. Term) Paid off the March balance or so I thought but U.S. Bank applied to the July balance because it was an older offer. Interest charged on the March balance and bank refused to credit ...Paid balance and closed account immediately. I wish I would have read reviews before doing business with them

I opened a US Bank Credit Card in…

I opened a US Bank Credit Card in October or November of 2025. I have paid every payment on-time and have proof of it, but US BANK charges me a LATE Fee, ever single month without exception. At first they waived the fee a couple of times, but now, they say that I have had the FEE Waived too many times to waive it any longer. That sounds like a good policy, except none of my payments were ever LATE. They are basically stealing the LATE fee Amount from me every month! They refuse to look at the proof from my bank showing that they were paid on-time. I have called at least 3 times, sent 4 emails and did the chat thing once, they refuse to look at the proof. I have record of the emails and chat.

Also, the payment hits the account weeks and weeks after it was paid, I'm sure they are adding more interest to my account for these delays on their part.

My Suggestion: NEVER, EVER GET A US BANK Credit Card for any reason. You could be subject to them stealing from you!

You might think, this guy is crazy, but I always pay my bills on-time, this is the only CC, out of 5, that I use that has problems. These issues, are at their end. They fabricated this to steal from me, I wonder how many other people they are doing this to?

Good Luck!

Service is good, but when you request a credit line increase, they need to be better to their customers that do what they’re supposed to do

I’m happy with the accounts that I have with U.S. Bank but the only problem that I do have is I can’t get them to ever give me a credit raise on my credit cards even though I make more than my minimum payment they keep denying me even though I have a good credit score and that isn’t fair to me, but thank God that I have additional credit cards through other banks that see my worthiness

worst customer service experience anywhere

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had with a financial institution.

I spent nearly 2 hours on hold multiple times (50+ minute wait times) only to be transferred from one representative to another—over 8 times in a single day. Every transfer meant starting from scratch and re-explaining my entire situation because no one reads notes, assumes ownership, or follows through.

Even when I explicitly said “do not transfer me again,” I was still transferred—or worse, the call would mysteriously “disconnect” after a long hold. After this happening multiple times, it’s hard to believe it’s accidental.

The misinformation is constant and outrageous:

* One rep gives you guidance
* The next rep says it’s completely wrong
* Then refuses responsibility because “that wasn’t me”

There is zero accountability anywhere in the system.

What made this even worse is that U.S. Bank pushed me to a third-party partner, where I was forced to:

* Re-verify my identity all over again
* Provide my full Social Security number again
* Deal with a representative who was extremely rude and unhelpful

And yet—U.S. Bank takes no responsibility for this experience.

Let’s be clear:
If you are outsourcing customers to third parties and requiring them to hand over sensitive personal information, you are absolutely responsible for the quality, professionalism, and security of that partner.

Whoever manages partnerships at U.S. Bank is failing customers by allowing interactions like this to happen. You don’t get to offload your customers to a third party and then pretend the experience isn’t yours.

Across the board, the pattern is obvious:

* Endless transfers to avoid doing actual work
* Long hold times designed to wear you down
* Repetition of the same explanation because no one documents properly
* Conflicting and often incorrect information
* No escalation, no ownership, no resolution

This isn’t just poor service—it feels like a system intentionally designed to deflect responsibility and exhaust the customer until they give up.

For a bank entrusted with people’s money and sensitive information, this level of disorganization and disregard is completely unacceptable.

I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before relying on U.S. Bank for anything that requires competent support or secure, accountable handling of your information.

This bank Sucks - Holds your money hostage.

This bank Sucks. I unforuntely did not look deeper into their checking account. They advertised 'joint account' with 'join users' but when you add a user its ONLY VIEW access.. what does that even do? then once you direct deposit and they give you a 1500$ WEEKLY TRANSFER LIMIT.. so even if you wanted to close the account, you have to spend weeks transferring any funds over 1500. If you decide to use zelle to transfer their measly 2000 limit, THEY LOCK YOUR account because now its 'suspicious' so they now no longer have access to your funds.. this bank is a JOKE beware.

Truth though, if you had a life emergency that you needed funds transfers QUICKLY you would really really be screwed. I called and they assured me theres NO WAY around 1500 weekly limit. wow..

other banks easily 50K limits.
