So far the speed of response had been terribly bad… And extremely low commitment to your student's future and education. Courses are so boring and low budget.
If you're even thinking of enrolling here, stop. Turn around. Do not. This institution is not just a waste of time and money, it is a machine of negligence, hollow promises, and blatant disregard for students’ futures. I have never in my life encountered such a toxic combination of incompetence, apathy, and bureaucracy. Very annoying.
The response times are glacial—if they respond at all. The staff shows little to no commitment to students’ academic growth or professional success. It’s not education—it’s money-squeezing with a syllabus. Adding to the bad reputation, it adds to your CV.
They market themselves as a place of opportunity and advancement, but in truth, it's more like being trapped in a Kafkaesque nightmare where no one is accountable, students fail, nothing functions properly, and you're paying thousands to be ignored.
University of the People... No! University of the Rip-Off
Such a waste of time.

Being from South Sudan the youngest country in the world, earning a degree while supporting my family has been incredibly challenging. I discovered the University of the People through social media and joined without hesitation, drawn by its online format and flexible assignment schedule.
After enrolling, my family responsibilities increased, making it difficult to focus on my studies consistently. Fortunately, my program advisor encouraged me to apply for a scholarship. I did, and was awarded $1,350, which covered 15 courses. Since then, I haven’t paused my education.
Yesterday, that funding came to an end. I applied for another scholarship and was grateful to be awarded $1,700.
The University of the People is truly making education affordable and accessible on a global scale. I strongly encourage others to consider joining this remarkable institution.
I enrolled at the University of the People looking for an affordable and flexible path to finish my degree. What I found was far more valuable than just coursework.
Through weekly assignments, peer-reviewed papers, and group discussions, I’ve engaged with students from around the world. These weren’t surface-level interactions. I’ve read first-hand accounts from classmates surviving natural disasters, building businesses in developing regions, and finding creative ways to study with limited resources. These stories were not in textbooks. They were real, and they changed me.
UoPeople offers a unique global classroom where cultural understanding is not just part of the curriculum. It becomes part of your life. These relationships and insights have expanded my perspective, improved how I lead in my own business, and deepened my sense of empathy in ways I never expected from an online university.
The academic content is strong, especially in senior-level courses like Organizational Behavior and Business Policy. But the real value comes from the global community. It has reshaped how I think, how I work, and how I understand the world.
If you are looking for an education that offers more than a credential, University of the People is worth your time.
I have always had a desire to study computer science, but during my high school years in Nigeria in the late '90s, I had to drop out of the science class when registering for the WAEC exams because we didn't have a physics teacher, and instead registered for social sciences. This felt like a setback, as I thought my dream was dashed, especially since I would need to retake the WAEC/SSCE, and I didn’t have the funds to do so.
In 2015, I enrolled at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to further my education, as it offered a partially online learning format. However, I struggled to keep up due to their inconsistencies. Fast forward almost ten years, and I am now studying my desired course at the University of the People (UoPeople) free of charge, thanks to a full scholarship in Computer Science.
So far, my experience has been wonderful. The school administration is well-structured, the instructors are very supportive, and my classmates are amazing individuals from all over the world. I am actively studying and connecting with my peers.
As an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of the People (UoP), I truly appreciate the flexibility and accessibility the university offers. It allows me to balance my studies with personal responsibilities while still receiving quality education. The support from instructors and peers has been meaningful and motivating. University of the People is an excellent choice for anyone looking to further their education without compromising their other commitments. UoP stands true to its tuition-free stance - I am a true Caribbean national and beneficiary of this process.
It's a great focus to study at UOPEOPLE what I love about it you have program advisor that helps in real time when you are having difficulties it's one of the best.
The University of the People is a tuition-free institution based in the US, accredited by DEAC and WASC. It has proven to be the only university across the globe that indeed works to help students gain access to quality education they couldn't access due to a lack of financial resources. The pros of learning at the University of the People include access to education wherever you are, as long as you have access to the internet. The University of the People offers both full and partial scholarships to students. The only problem that I encountered during my learning time was a poor internet connection and the lack of virtual classes where you are supposed to see the lecturer. The professors are well-qualified people in different fields taught at the University of the People, but the only problem is that you can't see them face-to-face. For students, there is great networking with students from various parts of the world. However, I recommend it to any underprivileged person who feels they are incapable of getting tertiary education due to a lack of school fees.
Extremely good value for money. The quality of education is good, and the fact that the program is now regionally-accredited is very helpful. I would like it if there were more opportunities for community & extracurricular activities but otherwise I have no serious complaints.
University of The People has completely transformed my academic journey. Without the outstanding support they offered, I don't think I would be pursuing a degree right now. From day one, the team has consistently provided guidance, allowing me to overcome challenges and stay on track.
The academic quality here is truly impressive. The courses are well-structured and rigorous, offering an education that rivals traditional institutions. What makes the experience even better is the responsiveness of the instructors. Every time I've had a question or needed clarification, they've been there with thorough and timely answers.
Another standout feature is the inclusive learning environment at University of The People. It's a place where every student, regardless of background, feels welcome and valued. Thanks to this supportive community, I've not only grown academically but also personally.
I extend my deepest thanks to University of The People for being the crucial support in my educational journey. If you're looking for an institution that genuinely cares about your success, I wholeheartedly recommend University of The People.

University of the People (UoP) was like a light in the darkness for me. In my home country, I wasn’t able to start my education journey due to circumstances beyond my control. When I found UoP and was awarded a scholarship, it felt like a second chance at life.
What makes UoP great is the flexibility to learn at my own pace and the supportive community of students and instructors. Even though I faced challenges with English, I always felt encouraged and motivated to improve.
UoP gave me the opportunity to believe in myself and work towards my goals. I am grateful for this program and feel proud to be part of the UoP family.

I’ve been studying at the University of the People, and I can confidently say it’s been a life-changing journey. As a tuition-free, fully online university, UoPeople has opened doors that would have been financially impossible elsewhere.
The courses are rigorous and well-structured, the instructors and mentors are knowledgeable and supportive, and the global peer-to-peer learning environment adds real value to every class. One of the things I appreciate most is the flexibility. I can study at my pace while managing other responsibilities. It's not always easy; UoPeople demands commitment and time, but the education is real and rewarding.
If you're self-motivated and serious about getting a quality education without drowning in debt, UoPeople is absolutely worth considering.
