Mayflower/UniGroup Horrible Horrible Horrible

Wasn't sure about this group until I decided to leave a review. It is clear, they are consistently rated the lowest. Mayflower movers damaged 2 pianos of mine and claim damages were existing. The movers took 9 hours to load 1/2 of a 10x30 which was already professionally packed by the same company. The crew men walked and loaded about a box every 30 minutes. 2 guys stayed outside for most of the 9 hours chatting about how to get out of doing anything. All that was needed was to load the boxes and a few items of furniture. I personally saw the way they treated the pieces but both pianos were left for the very last item to load and after they brought them outside, I didn't see what happened. I do know that the damage they claim was existing was not. So many problems I can't even list. I am including photos of the pianos and the office chair. They piled so many heavy boxes on the office chair that it bent the frame and busted the castors. My aunt is an interior designer and bought the chair for $1500 at the design center in Houston, Texas. Note the boxes turned upside down and on the side. The contents spilled out when they unloaded. Then the UniGroup idiots that contacted me to send an adjuster was more of the same clown show. Adjuster was a punk kid who spent maybe 10 minutes taking notes and photos to make the claim. Absolutely the worst customer service and the way they communicate is third grade level at best. Stay clear of Mayflower and UniGroup if at all possible.

One sided contract

Contracted with Mayflower/UniGroup for cross country move. Truck packed in New Orleans 2/12, contracted delivery 2/18-2/21. Our family flew to Ca to await truck in 2/13. Our belongings sit in a New Orleans warehouse for 12 days, we have to move to a second Airbnb, new delivery 3/1. Husband and disabled son run out of medications, we wait 17 days for delivery. Mayflower charges our CC the full amount, despite unforgivable delays.
NEVER USE MAYFLOWER OR UNITED - NEVER

Top of the line straight into the sewer

This is Mayflower movers. They went from top of the line straight into the sewer. U would have been better off with a local down the block firm.
I used them in 2015 to move from NY to Florida. They were great at that time but when I moved to Jersey I got them no questions asked. They are now the worst.
Paid Minimum of $5000 and it wasn't worth $100.
The furniture stayed in the house so there was nothing but a ton of boxes and had them pack some wall art paintings. $5000 ????
I had one guy not a crew like most movers. And an independent contractor at that.
You can fill in the blanks as almost every aspect of this business is garbage.

A criminal company

Unfortunately this company is a criminal organization doing all they can to avoid paying you anything for your insurance coverage. They play games by stating that you claim has been transferred to another underwriter, which is solely a delay tactic. They also do not proactively provide you information but rather make you constantly reach out to them to find out what the status of your claim is. After some time they then tell you that the original settlement offer (which in our case was $675 against a claim of $14,900) is now expired, and then offered us only $575 stating that we did not substantiate our claim. But we did with numerous pictures and evidence. Even agreeing to settle for $2300 much less than originally claimed. A horrible company with heartless people.

ID theft from their movers

We used UniGroup for an international move, and one of their staff stole some documents from us and attempted to steal our identities and steal from our bank accounts. We discovered this right away, and the man was arrested a week or so later; hwoever, UniGroup did not really cooperate with us or the police in finding the man. After we figured out who he was, they only agreed that the name we figured out was really his name.

They claimed no responsibility for the employee, since they subcontracted out the people onsite to Hildrupp, and subcontracted out the background checks to United Van Lines. Neither of those companies would also help find the guy.
