An invaluable service that truly served our need.
We had the need to relocate an elderly, infirm Aunt from hospital in Margate to a residential nursing home near St. Austell , Cornwall so that she could be closer to other family members. The trip if considered by road would have been by private ambulance over 2 days with an overnight hospital stay including attendance, if necessary by a consultant doctor. A lengthy and relatively costly ordeal for a 95 year old.
With Auntie's agreement (she had never ever traveled by air) we were pleased to choose the Air Ambulance service to benefit from the cost, speed and convenience over any alternative otherwise found.
The transit time taken was about two and a half hours from Manston
(aka Kent international) to Newquay. Our aircraft, an adapted 6 seat twin engined Piper PA 35 was piloted by Ray, an extremely experienced professional very well supported medically by nurse Janet, who also had the foresight to bring coffee and sandwiches for the flight !
The whole trip was incident free and was much enjoyed by Auntie and her nephew travelling companion. The NHS regular ambulance service co operated at each end of the journey providing transport to and from the airports. The title of this review says it all, many thanks
