Bad customer service and a total ripoff
Went in there today at their niles location to see if they can get this small shard of metal removed from the charging port of a switch lite I bought. The man who sold it to me said his daughter might’ve broken a piece of the charger in there causing the charger to not fit. So it was simple just use whatever tools they have to get that little piece out but instead of doing that the lady was kind of rude and ignorant she barely looked in there and quoted me 190 dollars to replace it but said it wasn’t worth it for a switch lite. I then repeated to her that it’s not broken it just needs to have that tiny metal piece plucked out of there and she just kept brushing me off and saying that’s the only way and it’s not worth it. So I left, the man at T-Mobile was better and almost got it out yesterday but said he doesn’t have the special tweezers tech stores use so he recommended I take it here but man was he wrong they’re absolutely useless! Not wasting my time and money so I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. That’s ridiculous that for a little shard of metal they won’t help me and instead would charge me almost what the system is worth in retail.
Worst Customer Service Ever
On 5-6-2024 I drove my grandson to Gainesville Ga store to have the HDMI port repaired or replaced. The repair sheet quote stated $100 for cleaning which customer refused and $140 for HDMI repair. The Estimated turnaround May 21. After several calls over several weeks talking to Chris and Alex they said they would investigate. Never, I repeat never, did either Chris or Alex call me back. Alex even told me Chris was going out of his way to help me by trying to find out why my unit was late. I mistakenly thought that was his job. I asked several times to give me the owners name and phone number. He told me it was against company policy and refused. I then asked for the corporate franchise contact and was again told it was against company to give that information. I research who owned UBreakifix and Asurian is the parent company. Got a hold of complaint department and in no time at all they researched and found the Xbox was lost or stolen and sent a check for the price of a used unit through Amazon or GameStop. When we put in the order they required a $70 deposit. It was paid. After getting the settlement I called the store and Alex said he would contact Chris about a refund of the deposit and he would be in touch. Of course he never called. I called again and Chris said he tried to get refund but system would not allow because the $70 was listed as a diagnostic charge. We were not told there would be a diagnostic charge. We were quoted $140 to fix HDMI port, period. They did not fix anything. They want to charge $70 for something that was never fixed on a console that was lost. This is wrong on so many levels. I would recommend this establishment be avoided at all costs.
Even their own website says free diagnostic, no obligation statement. They are simply dishonest people.
Broken Promises, Money lost and Uncaring Staff
I Dropped off a PS5 on June 2nd at the Pensacola store after they assured me it could be fixed and that it was only requiring a new HDMI port. I got the phone call july 3rd that it would be ready for pick up so I used my lunch hour from work to go pick it up. I asked if they were sure it was working properly and would be tested before I left and the gentleman assured me that it would be in great condition and work. I get home and ask my husband to hook it up only to discover that who ever took the covers off the console and put them back on snapped a wire inside of it now it is completely broken. I’m out roughly ($400 console $200 they charged to fix console) $600, an entire month of waiting for it to not actually be fixed, nor was it checked to be in working condition before I left that store.
Dropped off a working phone, picked up a dead one.
I brought my Pixel 8 pro in for a cracked screen. It was working without issues when I dropped it off. They removed the glass, replaced it with new and the phone no longer worked. They put the old glass back on and returned the phone and, according to their tracking system, no repair was attempted. I have an email from them stating exactly what they did. Now, as a result, I have to pay an additional $100 for a replacement. Yes, mistakes happen, just own up to them!
Phone fix
My phone would not charge. I took it to Nate at the Davenport, IA store. He had it diagnosed and fixed in less than 15 minutes. Also showed me how to try to reboot and correct before having to bring it back if it happens again. No charge for this repair/fix. I am very happy.
I had my screen changed out
I had my screen changed out. It took two hours. Every time I would use it it glitched to the right. I went in. It took three hours to fix it. New screen glitches up and down. I took it in requesting refund. They said they would have to find a way to re-create my original screen for me to have a refund and I would have to leave my phone there again for three hours. Avoid this repair store
Store closed
I drove from Port Townsend WA to the closest UBREAKIFIX in Silverdale WA for an appt to fix my cracked screen. I made the appt through my Samsung phone acct on June 19th, '24 @ 4:00pm. Another customer was waiting to pick up her phone. The store was CLOSED for June teeth Day. No notice, no reschedule. Completely unacceptable as it took me over an hour through vacation traffic to get there. Needless to say, I will not be using this service again.
Customer service very lacking
I am a disabled elderly lady who had to make
3 trips to the shop. First tech was nice and said she would put me down for a 1:30 ready
So at 1:45 I was there only to be told it wasn’t ready by a different tech. I needed a new screen. I hobbled back to my car and the tech ran after me that it was in fact ready. But then another problem came up. The system went down so I couldn’t pay. They kept my phone and took my husbands phone number to call when the system to pay was available. But I didn’t get a call. I had to call them. At 4:30 I went back. Paid for the repair and left. Only to see later that there was a text message on my repaired phone. How was I supposed to get that message. Very lacking in customer service. They treated me like I was a bother. Which isn’t very nice when you’re disabled and a little slow
Go someplace else to get it fixed
My pixel 6 touch screen stopped working, (no physical damage) and it was after Google's warranty period so I paid them $220 to replace the screen. It came with 1 year warranty. After only 7 months, the screen stopped working again. I went back there to get it replaced. They didn't have the parts so I had to wait for a week (I wrote what I needed when I made the appt. No one bothered to check or let me know that they didn't have the parts. I drove there for no reason. They never followed up either. I found out they got the parts only because I call them). Now I'm there for the second time and this time, they're having trouble creating warranty claim. It was taking too long so I went out to eat at a restaurant and still no progress. I call them back the next day, the same story. Can't create the claim. I'm starting to think their warranties are never meant to claim it.
Update:
After following up tirelessly, I was able to get the screen replaced at no cost.
Zach broke my spouse's Playstation…
Zach broke my spouse's Playstation recently after the console was taken in to the Port Charlotte, Florida location to be cleaned. Zach is slovenly and treats customers as if they're a bother.
SCAM
SCAM. On 4/20 brought in an xbox controller with a faulty trigger. Paid $40 for diagnosis. Was told it would be 3-5 days. 20 days later on 5/10 was told it would be $159.99 to fix. A new controller is $116.
Don't take your old hardware to these people
My fraternal twin sister got myself, my brother-in-law and her a Surface Pro 4 when it came out. Fast forward 5 or so years later my battery started to swell so I looked for places that could change out my Surface 4 Pro battery and this place came up.
I took my Surface Pro 4 in and it took them a little over 2 weeks to do. When I got it back my charging port wouldn't charge and my Stylus wasn't working so I took it back. Three and a half weeks later I get my Surface Pro 4 back. My charging port works but my Stylus is still dead. I use this instead of my mouse most of the time. These people told me they can't fix it but will offer me $240 to get a used one.......My Surface Pro cost way more than that. My sister had custom programs installed on there and even purchased a backlit keyboard along with my Stylus equaling to over $1500. I can still use my Surface Pro 4 but it still gets extremely hot within a few minutes of usage but I can't get my Stylus to work. I think they tried to get the cheapest battery for my unit when the most compatible one only cost around $60-$70 and then offered to fund me the cheapest used Surface Pro 4 that's still available.
They were nice enough to offer me something but I will never go back to these people again.
phone problem?
I had a Samsung phone that was locked because the phone wouldnt accept my password for what ever reason. i just needed a factory reset and i talked to a man at ubreakifix and explained that the factory reset was the best that they could do and estimated because i didnt know the password or the original passcode that it would cost $100. it weas close to thier closing time so i decided not to go and see what i could do on my own. i was able to perform a hard reset and had a workable phone in front of me in about 10 minutes. the actual reset only really took about 3 minuites after i watched the right video.
Courteous but Lacking Solutions
Although the few tech persons I have spoken with over the phone when trying to file a claim online have been courteous and gracious, something always goes wrong, and I end up having to go into the store with my equipment. I try to avoid this as I am visually impaired and must haul my equipment in a ride share car. I wish someone could successfully help me fill out claims online.
I made an appointment with their online…
I made an appointment with their online form. In it I checked the box for my type of phone and that it needed a new battery. I received several texts and email from them to remind me of my appointment. I drove for an hour to make it to my appointment on time, only to have the technician inform me that they didn't have the battery my phone needed. They offered to order it and reschedule a week later. But I'm not inclined to give my money to companies that display that kind of contempt toward their customers.
Do not use this company to fix your devices!
This is the Tapestry Park location in Jacksonville, FL
If I could give this place less than one star I would. I had several issues when leaving my phone such as a snarky attitude from the cashier when I refused to give them my passcode, but the main issue is that my phone no longer works. Ever since I had my screen repaired here a few weeks ago, my phone has never been the same. The screen wouldn't turn on properly and if I was talking on the phone and the screen turned off, I couldn't get it back on until the person hung up the phone. I was unable to hang up on the call. Tonight I had to turn the phone off to reboot and the screen just never turned back on. The phone is on because if someone calls, it rings, but the screen is black and won't activate. I have no way to answer the call or to get to anything on the phone. Do not take your phone or other devices here to be fixed.
Free diagnostics?-Beware!
Took google pixel6a in for free diagnostics to determine issue. The tech (professional?) Looked at the charging port and stated that there was a significant amount of dust/lint likely causing the charging issue, and if we wanted that cleaned, which should correct the issue. We agreed with their recommendation and paid for the cleaning. Afterwards (10 min) they stated that the issue was a motherboard, and wouldnt be worth investing that cost into the phone. So I requested a refund for their recommendation to perform a cleaning of the charging port. THEY REFUSED. So now we have a clean non working device. Will be reporting them to BBB, google customer service, and their home office. Would love to understand their definition of free diagnostics. This was experienced at the Pittsford, NY location.
I had these folks replace the battery…
I had these folks replace the battery on my iPhone 6s Plus. After just over a year I started having problems with my battery again. It got to the point where I had to get a used phone to replace my iPhone 6s plus. After about a month or so without charging it the battery in my iPhone 6s started bloating up. I had kept that phone because I have files that I wanted and hoped to replace the battery at some point but now that phone is ruined. I don’t know where these guys buy their batteries but they are worse than the ones they are replacing. I will never trust these guys to work on any of my devices again.
waste of money and time
The claim process is so complicated that it becomes overwhelming and time-consuming. After completing the paperwork and submitting pictures, you may feel like you shouldn't have started the process in the first place. To make matters worse, they often reject claims without a valid reason. When you call to inquire about the status of your claim, they ask for a lot of personal information, including a copy of your ID, which seems unnecessary given that you already have an account with multiple authentication measures in place.
It almost feels like a scam and not worth the money or time invested.
Fast and inexpensive.
I've dealt with them a couple of times, and in both cases the repairs where done quickly and for less than I expected. I hope I don't need anything fixed like that again, but if I do I'll be going to their business.
