Prepare To Be Profoundly Disappointed.
My car, a Dacia Duster, suffered catastrophic engine failure on August 21st 2025. I contacted Turnkey Engineering a.k.a. Ribas Motors Ltd. Pat, a lady sales engineer, took details and gave me a quote for an engine re-build. She arranged for the car to be transported from my hometown to workshops and assured me that the work would be completed in about 10 days. Roll forward to 20th March 2026 and the car was finally returned to me. It had been back six times previously! When initially collected, after I was sent to wrong garage, Romsey rather than Staines, It suffered brake failure on the way home, along with a profusion of warning lights. It was collected a few days later and trailered back to the workshop. Over the next five months it travelled, by trailer, to and from the workshops countless times in an effort to get things resolved. I had little choice but to persist as I had paid out nearly £5000 for the works. Mid December I was told by the company workshop manager to go and hire a car and that they would cover the cost. This I did. I paid out £1300 for hire but as yet I have received no payment for this – an attempt at recovering this via the Small Claims Court, is pending, but I’m not optimistic. My research has shown that, according to Companies House, CCJs awarded against them are unsatisfied. My advice to anyone considering using this organisation is DON’T!!! The car has now been sold and the anxiety it caused me is gradually lifting.
Communication is almost non-existent and the fact that there is a language problem (I don’t speak Brazilian Portuguese) doesn’t help.
I always try to look for a redeeming factor when leaving reviews. In this case it’s been difficult, but I would mention the Workshop Manager for trying to hold it all together and to fight against considerable mismanagement exercised by the Company owners. Finally ‘Caveat emptor’ & ‘Nolite te bastardes carborundum’.
