For the second time this year 2023 and last 2022 year, a tech will put in that he has service my yard shows on camera no service and I was 4/20 home and no invoice left.. it’s time for a lawsuit this is stealing from customers and all was offered was 50% off my next service. Unacceptable. My lawn is starting to look worse every year.
Initially I had a couple of people come out that knew their stuff. Then they sent some, much younger, person out who made it pretty clear she was there for a paycheck. Had no understanding of warm grass v cool grass etc. Didn't like using the big hose rig so she spent 5 minutes w a 5 gal backpack doing spot treatments instead of spraying the yard and so on. Come to find out she was the cool grass person w cool grass chems using them on my warm grass lawn because someone at the main office screwed up. The result? The crabgrass LOVED whatever they put on the lawn. Promises were made to fix this in the coming year if I remained a customer. So far? They put down a preemergent while walking right by foot-tall crabgrass. Been trying to reach a manager for 2 weeks. Been getting a runaround since last year's manager who made the promises has been relocated and no one knows what he was talking about. They already tried to send people out to add chems wo addressing the crabgrass. At this point they have 48 hours to call and fix things or I'm moving on. Biggest waste of my time and money. $800 for VERY healthy crabgrass. No thanks.
All was fine with Trugreen Complete Lawn and Shrub Service until the August 2nd 2022 lawn treatment and the repeat free August 15th mosquito treatment.
Sudden appearance of patches of dead grass in August. Some said "brown patch" while others thought that it was due to "chemical application." Also, had a proliferation of spurge on one side for which they retreated the whole lawn on August 30th. This proved to be fatal.
After a lot of back and forth in Aug-Sept with Trugreen Corporate and the local office about indequate expertise and coverage I was getting frustrated. The local office procrastrinated on any remediation and were not completely transparent with me. It took time for them to say that they made a mistake and that this happened to many customers. The local manager made a "peace offering" to reseed in a "few weeks" on September 26th or 27th but did not provide specific timeframes.
On October 5th, given the predicted October 30th frost, I hired a full service landscaper to completely reseed my lawn. But this was a mistake that could have been avoided if Trugreen had told me the truth which I would find out later on my own.
On October 6th, I canceled my contract with Trugreen for the damage, not providing the expertise and timely services that one would expect, in addition to sending non-uniformed unskilled labor in company trucks to apply lawn chemicals with no on site supervisor.
On October 12th the following became clear to me:
1. Trugreen applied CELCIUS WG on August 2nd which began killing our fescue lawn. The chemical is meant for warm season grasses.
2. After overseeding on August 19th, Trugreen applied Specticle Flo preemergent and Manor herbicide on the freshly overseeded lawn on August 30th. SPECTICLE FLO is meant for warm season grasses and killed more of the remaining fescue and will continue to prevent fescue seeds from germinating and growing normally. Today Bayer product support confirmed that the effects last 10 months. . Now I know why Trugreen was slow to remediate. I don't see how reseeding will help anytime soon.
3. Had Trugreen been completely transparent with me I would not have invested more money on reseeding the lawn through a third party
It is frustrating that I am only receiving lip service from their corporate office after being a customer since 2010.
If other customers have suffered similarly, please escalate through all avenues. I am looking into them. The damage done won't be fixed anytime soon.

I've been a TruGreen customer for 5 years. I've given them chance after chance. I finally hit a breaking point after watching the tech on the last application completely skip parts of my lawn. I called for a free retreat and they said it was completed and it was never done. I would never recommend this service.

I live in Franklinton, NC. TruGreen came to my house to perform a service. I am not a customer. I have a fully Bermuda Grass yard. They supposedly aerated and certainly sowed fescue seed into my yard and left a reciept on my front door. They were at the wrong house. The address is on the front of every house in our neighborhood. Worst of all, they will not call me back. I am thinking seriously about a law suit. I have put well over $10,000 into getting my yard like I want it and trugreen showed up uninvited, sowed competing grass seed and won't even own up to their mistake or offer to make it right. They really do seem to be a terrible company.
After I posted this review, two different people from Trugreen called looking to make this right in the best way they can. They offered to apply a pre-emergent to my yard, aerate and fertilize it. I had already done this so I don't need or want them to come out. I suggested they pay me for my extra work the same amount they would charge a customer, but I left that up to them. I did appreciate the calls so I am upgrading my review to 2-stars
A third person from Tru-green called offering the same service. I appreciate the follow-up even though it took a week.

Buyer beware, better yet stay away entirely!!! We have had 6 out of 7 treatments and our yard looks significantly worse than it did when we started. We have bare patches, brown spots, and lots of weeds and mushrooms. We have asked to speak to managers and for a refund since there motto is a "healthy lawn guarantee", still haven't heard from a manager and the customer service rep said the don't offer "money back guarantee". I wish I could upload pictures for you to see how bad our lawn looks!!

I don’t recommend TruGreen. High pressure to sign up, but service not adequately delivered. Customer service is a joke. I called numerous times. Promises to address my situation never fulfilled. Local manager will not return phone calls.
